That Leyritz HR off Wohlers in G4 might have been the most significant HR of the past 20 years. At the time ATL was defending champs and THE dominant force in MLB while the Yankees were in their first WS in 15 years. Now consider that since that HR the Braves havent won a single WS game while the Yankees have won 5 championships.

The Braves were the better team in every way – 1996 was that team’s peak, really. Up 2-0 going back to Atlanta and we blew it. Goddammit it still makes me so angry.

At least we won the damn thing in 1995 or this would be much, much, much more painful.
