Jimmy Wilson: A Guy to Root For at the NFL Draft
NFL Draft: Jimmy Wilson might have the best path-to-the-draft story in 2011. He was a University of Montana defensive back when on June 2, 2007, he accidentally killed an abusive boyfriend of his aunt. “Wilson said an intoxicated Smoot came out of the garage with a rifle. A struggle ensued, the rifle discharged and Smoot ran from the scene, believing he was being shot at. When he heard his aunt scream, he said he turned and realized Smoot was dead.” After two trials and 25 months in jail, a jury acquitted him. The NCAA gave Wilson a 6th year of eligibility, and he played CB/S last year, earning All Big Sky honors. [Mort]

April 19th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
she screamed because Smoot was a zombie, amiright?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
In the year 9595
If Al Davis is still alive
He’ll only look at the guys who run fast
While fans watching the Draft look on all aghast…whoooooaaaaaa
April 19th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
I wonder what Bulldog thinks of all this. Too bad vez had him put down last night.

Urinating on someone never solves a dispute.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:19 AM
Before his departure, Wilson said his aunt, Opal Davis, called the house to complain that Smoot had been abusive, including urinating on her during a domestic dispute.
If someone was urinating on you during an argument, wouldn’t your first reaction be to move away from the stream?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Urinating on someone never solves a dispute. Cleet
I’ve seen it work a few times. That is the peaceful way to settle disputes in the Ozarks.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
that shit was digital.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
So Prosecuters were dead set on nailing this guy for murder but only 1 person on two juries thought differently…
April 19th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Cross the streams.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
As long as you don’t cross the streams right?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:22 AM
There’s a lot of shit on that story… I’m not saying he’s guilty, but it doesnt seem very clear-cut to me.
It does sound really sketchy…
April 19th, 2011 at 11:22 AM
So…are we rooting for him because he killed this guy?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
The Lions could use his killer instinct in the secondary.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
So…are we rooting for him because he killed this guy? bsanders
It isn’t rooting. It is the best-path-to-the-draft story.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
Murder and running a dogfighting ring, good. Cheating on your wife, bad.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
it’s not like he sniped the guy from 200 yards away or hacked the guy’s head off with a hatchet because the guy raped his nonexistent daughter.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
Okay so I’m not the only one who is thinking he sounds pretty guilty, but there just wasnt the evidence to prove anything.
Still not as bad as Leonard Little though.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
The Lions could use his killer instinct in the secondary.
I was putting together a Brian Blades joke here, but then I remembered he was a receiver and it was Bennie Blades that played for the Lions.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
[Edit: It was later determined that Jimmy Wilson doesn't have an aunt.]
April 19th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
she screamed because Smoot was a zombie, amiright?
+1
April 19th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
After the articles last week about 1000-2500 yard kills, 200 hardly seems like sniping anymore.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:28 AM
you weren’t around for
the Ole Miss/Oxford/KKK post.April 19th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
where?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
200 yards aint shit. we start from the standing at 200 yards
April 19th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
Still not as bad as Leonard Little though.
I can’t wait until Donte Stallworth runs over this POS.

KC Resident… it seems like TBL put a pretty clear editorial perspective on it, and not one I particularly agree with. I wonder how carefully he read the articles. My biggest criticism of TBL (and other writers here sometimes, but TBL posts the most) are providing links that don’t seem particularly well-vetted, and that important points, such as “hey he probably killed the guy” are left out.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Exactly what I was thinking.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
Speaking of snipers and the discussion of badasses from last week, spencer, if you’re around, ever heard of this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Hartmann
April 19th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
hah!
April 19th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
TBL likes him because he has the same back story as Kate on Lost.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Hey, TBL… did you read the article in full? I’m interested to see if you read it and had a completely different editorial perspective from a lot of us.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
ms621…oh yea…that dude was ruthless. 352 killed? against witold urbanowicz and the RAF? holy crap. and that shit about him coming back after landing behind enemy lines and getting shot thur his pants was nuts.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
TBL read this article as thoroughly as he read the article about the homeless NY kid being recruited by schools
in stateslike Arkansas, KY, and Florida.April 19th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
hardcore motherfucker right there
April 19th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
Iverson’d.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
345 of them were Russians and they had probably just gotten back from the club with Yuri and pills and vodka. doesn’t count.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
There have been a few link fails recently. I got pretty pissed about a couple dealing with college players getting paid that were ridiculous but blindly linked to without any comment as to their content. The posts disappeared a few days later though.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:38 AM

I was joking. I don’t click the links.
April 19th, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Can you even imagine trying to graphically represent 352 aerial kills on your plane?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:39 AM

Miz’s kills were all over Korea, when the Russians had jet fighters. Big difference.

dear fucking god…

where does killing a school cameraman fall?
April 19th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
Korea…Chosin Reservoir
April 19th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
In other news, the Rough Riders are set to draft the deceased.
Don’t laugh, it happened before, twice

love that patton quote…this one’s my favorite tho.
“If we take the generally accepted definition of bravery as a quality which knows no fear, I have never seen a brave man,” reflected Patton.

Other than Ballin’ being the current active post, no I’m not having any problems.
/snark.

nicely done.

+ 23 weeks of NBA playoffs for you.

I actually had to do the math and see if that was an exaggeration, because it seemed accurate to me.
April 19th, 2011 at 12:17 PM
And yet all the right-wingers here would have seen him hung immediately after his conviction.
April 19th, 2011 at 12:22 PM
well, i mean he WAS a nazi…
/oh you mean the guy in the post?
//why the hell did you read a post here?

“And they was right”.
