Here is a Lawyer Who is Angry at Uninformed Bloggers
Get Off My Lawn: Up for a good anti-blog rant? “Bloggers claim to write as champions of ‘honest’ government but their tactics are anything but honest. If you follow the blogs in any city, you are likely to find persistent, insidious, purposely uninformed and mendacious activists waging a relentless campaign designed to create distrust of government … So, with the click of the ‘send’ button, these cyber-bullies can increase their ‘hits’ by throwing proverbial rocks through windows and burning cyber-crosses on the lawn for no reason other than they are angry and they can — and good and decent public officials are being blamed based on distortions and falsehoods.” [Miami Herald]

Angry at Uninformed Bloggers
I can see why this might have ruffled your feathers.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:39 PM
Um, because professional writers don’t do the same thing?
April 18th, 2011 at 3:40 PM
This phenomenon of targeting, scapegoating, and lying to achieve an end has been described by renowned psychiatrist and best-selling author Scott Peck in his book about evildoers called People of the Lie. He says lying is both the cause and the manifestation of evil done under the guise of propriety (“we bloggers just want to get rid of corruption”) and as an expression of political power (“we bloggers are merely exercising our First Amendment rights.”) Of course, this is no longer an expression of civil rights; it is an uncivil wrong. To the bloggers the means justify their ends. To an ethical person, the means is all that counts.
In such an environment, what person of good caliber and moral fiber would voluntarily subject themselves and their families to such harm and incivility?
Remember readers, you are all stupid. Completely incapable of analyzing writing and deciding whether a blogger is full of shit or not. That is why you must rely on us trustworthy real journalists to tell you how to think. We’re the good guys.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:40 PM
You mean someone is distorting information in an effort to discredit a politician whose views don’t align with their own so they can have an alternative candidate take their place with more like-minded views?
April 18th, 2011 at 3:42 PM
This is the worst thing the Miami Herald has published since LeBatard’s last NBA column.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:42 PM
Oops, did he see the post here about the homeless basketball player not being recruited by SEC schools?
April 18th, 2011 at 3:42 PM
There is some kind of “Buzz” to this….
April 18th, 2011 at 3:43 PM
This isn’t true. Why I just read a blogger’s review of Atlas Shrugged this morning and it was delightful.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:43 PM
Remember readers, you are all stupid.
as a collective, this isn’t far off. And when you’re dealing with tiny blogs that deal with local government, there’s not a lot of dichotomy in a blogger’s audience. So it’s pretty easy to rouse the rabble. Probably easier by being incendiary.

This is like writing by mad libs. You can change it to a anti-sports blog message by changing “public officials” to “team officials”.

This is the worst thing the Miami Herald has published since LeBatard’s last NBA column.
Are we sure this wasn’t written by LeBatard? Replace the “good and decent public officials” with “NAME OF MIAMI SPORTS STAR” and it reads like a LeBatard piece.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:45 PM
Yes, because a majority of most public officials are good and decent.

Anonymity as both blogger and commenter contributes to the culture of negativity that exists on the Internet.

April 18th, 2011 at 3:55 PM
Good and decent public officials wouldn’t exist anyway. Newspapers weren’t (and still aren’t) writing nice things about Congress. When’s the last time you heard about something “good” about a member of Congress?
It’s all very negative, and if the story takes you there, that’s fine. But the public eats those scandals up. You break something big, your career is made, damn the consequences for the way the information was presented/obtained.

I think a lot of stuff is funny. I’m all the time laughing in real life, and saying jokes and what not. I watched last week’s Community twice because it was so funny.
But TWKYK, not funny.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:02 PM
I agree TWKYK is not funny, the Clint Webb didn’t do it for me either. I’d go mildly amusing, but the slow jerk is funny to me and I will continue to spread its message when lawyers who abuse taxpayer money rail against anonymous internet bloggers.

lisk is emailing who got picked and who’s up. Also, some assholes have been having their fun with the reply-to-all feature. Don’t they know how fucking busy I am?

I don’t know. There wasn’t a list issued. Probably a fan who volunteered though. Not spencer, or a monkey with yesterday’s newspaper.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:13 PM
Who is drafting for the Lions? JHS?
April 18th, 2011 at 4:13 PM
Since Lisk wants a couple selections that make no sense just to add some fun to the proceedings he’s gotten Jerry Angelo to make their pick
April 18th, 2011 at 4:15 PM
I gotta read through it all still. Of all the malicious attacks that have happened in the past few weeks, I’m sure that one is the most warranted.

CJ better be trading her picks for dozens and dozens of more picks.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:17 PM

April 18th, 2011 at 4:19 PM

April 18th, 2011 at 4:19 PM
CJ better be trading her picks for dozens and dozens of more picks.
I heard Belichick hates a crybaby, so he’s trading both #1s to Carolina for the right to draft Cam Newton, and brady has to hit the bricks, since he can’t win a playoff game anymore.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:20 PM
who is drafting for the redskins? jay v?
April 18th, 2011 at 4:20 PM
SC, you want to make the Bears pick? I was going to have one of the Vikings guys do it, since all of our Vikings commenters volunteered (hawkeye, weeze, reggie dunlap). I don’t have a Bears fan yet.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:20 PM

b) i didnt get the browns pick because lisk hates capitalism

Ballz, I was just giving you crap. No rush. Though I’m tempted to just go with your response to me in lieu of an actual player comment, think it will just add to the Mock draft post.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:22 PM
If you watched him sit down with Gruden, This idiot wouldn’t sniff the first round if I was a GM. He’s a moron, you should’ve heard his analogy of comparing himself to a gun…or wait was it a simple gun or was it the ammunition? Either way, it was epic brahs.

April 18th, 2011 at 4:24 PM
Lisk – I really know next to nothing about the draft or any of the prospects out there. Most of the time my draft experience is checking the internet to see who the Bears selected and then forgetting about them until camp starts. Thanks for the offer, but I would just screw it up.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:24 PM
i’ll take the bears!!!
April 18th, 2011 at 4:25 PM
What draft is this?
the reader mock draft that I referenced in a post that was buried on a weekend and then occasionally referenced buried within some comments because I’m not very good at organizing things.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:25 PM
i’ll take the bears!!!
let them autodraft. They’ll take Colin Kaepernick.

Would you like to take your pick back. The guy picking next for Tennessee already told me he is on a flight until 430 est. I’m sure Dirt wont mind.

April 18th, 2011 at 4:29 PM
Maybe. Five me a little bit of time to research.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:29 PM
damn.
I’m picking dallas. what do you think? I guess, better question, what do you think if Nick Fairley is still sitting there, and neither corner is.
And you can’t say trade down, because that’s the obvious answer. Nothing went according to logic above Dallas, so there’s edge rushers left, and maybe Fairley (depending on whether the tennessee pick is real or nonsensical).
April 18th, 2011 at 4:29 PM

the only reason I’d want the Prince there was to call Detroit about a trade up ahead of Houston. In real life, Dallas needs to move down, because the #9 pick is no place to be drafting right tackles.
April 18th, 2011 at 4:32 PM
