Terrelle Pryor Reportedly Thinking About Entering the NFL Supplemental Draft [UPDATE]
According to the National Football Post, Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor – who has been suspended for the first five games of next season – is considering entering the NFL Supplemental draft. “According to a source, the odds of Pryor staying for his senior season are about 60-40, but Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd coming out and declaring for the supplemental draft would have a direct effect on his decision.”
In one of many boneheaded decisions made by Ohio State and Jim Tressel in the last few months, the Buckeyes announced Pryor’s suspension before the Sugar Bowl – which was a joke – and then promised that all of the suspended players would return for next season. But now that Pryor has had some time to think about it, perhaps he’s reconsidering. What is there to gain from coming back? What if the team is 5-0 and the starting QB – whoever it is – is playing great? Will Tressel not want to tinker with team chemistry? What if the Buckeyes get upset early, and never get a shot at the title?
What are the odds Pryor can keep his nose clean for the next seven months?
And even if he does, will six or seven games really be enough to improve his draft stock? That’s assuming anyone thinks he can play QB in the NFL.
Floyd, for what it’s worth, doesn’t appear to be leaving Notre Dame early thanks to a favorable ruling last week.

Next years group of TE’s looks strong, he should come out this year.

Pryor owes OSU nothing, if he thinks he can go to the NFL and get paid go for it.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
This would be a terrible decision. Declaring for the draft of a sport whose next season is in doubt to even be played.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
Bengals. Book it.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:33 PM
That makes it more likely Pryor that will do it.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
No fucking way anyways tress said regardless of record Pryor is the qb when he returns
April 11th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
Doc Sat with a gem: “re: Pryor, NFP is the same site that brought you “Sam Bradford’s going pro” in December ’08. Only other original college reporting I recall.”

Floyd isn’t going anywhere.

If you’re taken in this supplemental draft, what kind of paycheck are you even getting?
April 11th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
A true blue Meeechigan man
April 11th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
This opinion is 100% false. Take it to the bank.
But, it makes for great April fodder, so carry on.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:48 PM
whatever…let him go. i just wanna move on from this bullshit.

Interested teams submit which round they would take him in and forfeit that pick in the next year’s draft (so if they value him as a 3rd they give up a 3rd, highest rank takes him). Guessing he would get paid in accordance with that draft slot. Of course this doesn’t factor in the likell rookie wage scale

Yup, 3rd alcohol-related offense in 2 years and he probably won’t even go sit on the bench for a series.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
To truly move on from “this bullshit”, Tressel will need to go also.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
He was a fake-ass buckeye anyway.
April 11th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
Thankfully.

RT @AdamJardyBSB: Talked to someone very close to Terrelle Pryor who told me he has never once mentioned the Supplemental Draft. Via 11 warriors

Get excited for the Joe Bausermann era!
April 11th, 2011 at 1:56 PM
I’m too late for a tight end joke, right? Am I too late for a fake ass buckeye joke? Can I do an everybody murders their draft status joke? What about a trading his supplemental draft position for tattoos? Has anybody done that one yet?
April 11th, 2011 at 2:00 PM
Patiently waiting for the article condemning nd over that decision. Ty must be working really hard on it
April 11th, 2011 at 2:06 PM
the article condemning nd over every crappy thing the students/employees do but skate by on because Duke University of Indiana (DUI) would never consider the idea that their spiked-hair-douchetastic-date-raping-sociology-major-waiting-for-their-trust-funds-to-mature-alcoholic-frat-boy students aren’t perfect
April 11th, 2011 at 2:10 PM
If fake ass buckeye like True Yankee?
April 11th, 2011 at 2:14 PM
Wouldn’t “buckeye” be a great slang term to mean “anus”?
April 11th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
For example:
“Every time OSU plays a team with SEC speed, they bend over and get their Buckeye stretched”

April 11th, 2011 at 3:32 PM
I honestly wonder if teams would forfeit a 6th round pick for pryor. What position will he play in the NFL – we know it isn’t QB.
April 11th, 2011 at 4:08 PM

Ugh. Way too late to start this convo but you people are crazy if you think he won’t get a shot to prove himself in the league. To borrow a term from baseball, he’s toolsy as hell, just raw in his passing mechanics. People that are taking it in stride that Cam Newton is too enticing to pass up in spite of all the work he needs to put in need to understand that TP is in a similar position. He’s got better natural arm strength than Cam, he’s huge, apparently has a faster 40 time (but football ain’t track, amirite?) but he’s getting knocked. He’s going to get a chance or 3 in the league. If he actually declares for a supplemental draft that maybe doesn’t even exist, somebody will take a chance with a 3rd or 4th round choice at least.
