Perry Jones is Staying in School and Not Entering the NBA Draft
Perry Jones: In a massive shocker, the highly-skilled 6-foot-11 Baylor freshman – who was suspended for the Big 12 tournament by the NCAA – is not going to enter the NBA draft and will stay in school. Jones, thought to be a lottery lock who probably would have gone in the Top 5, will have to sit out the first five games of next season. Jones didn’t put up big numbers in his freshman year (13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds), as he often deferred to seniors, but should be a monster next year. He’ll even have a wingman in Top 10 recruit Quincy Miller, who said no to Duke. We’ll have to put Baylor in our second crack at the super duper early preseason rankings. This year’s NBA draft just got considerably weaker, and runs the risk of being awful if Harrison Barnes doesn’t enter.

Stunning that one would voluntarily return to a state of indentured servitude like this

I’m having trouble understanding why Baylor is getting all these highly regarded recruits.

I think this draft is already horrible. This just makes things a little bit worse.

I think whoever gets the chance to take the next Mike Bibby #1(Kyrie Irving) has to take the next Michael Olowokandi, whoever that might be.

Could be a big mistake by Jones. Such a weak draft that he was a lock in the top 3-5 picks. The incoming freshman class has a lot of talent and could push Jones down the draft board in 2012.

Good. He’s not ready to play big time NBA ball. I watched 9 or 10 Baylor games this year and he was way too inconsistent. PJIII would not be in many rotations in the NBA right now and needs to bulk up or he’ll get destroyed at the next level.

So 14 and 8 is a top 5 draft pick now? Really? Poor NBA

I really wonder if most of these kids would survive 4 years of college. I think these kids are so nba humgry, they get there and dont’t last. Somebody is paying for these players to go to college, get a degree then go Pro, if they can even make it academicallly.
