because the FedEx cup is an arbitrary point system devised by the PGA tour (the european tour uses the race to dubai…same arbitrary bullshit). all the majors count on each tour’s respective point systems and money lists, but that’s just because all of the respective tour’s best players are playing there.

Yes, there are four major tournaments as part of the PGA Tour.

there’s only one major that’s part of the PGA tour…that’s the PGA champ. the rest are independent…the masters is augusta national, US Open the USGA, british open the R&A.

If it wasn’t part of the PGA Tour it couldn’t be counted as a “major” and thus it would basically not be a big deal.

it’s an invitational and it’s considered a major because of its history. but the PGA has no say over it at all. period.
