Disgraced GM/ESPN Analyst Steve Phillips: “Thank God for Steroids”
Steroids & MLB: Remember Steve Phillips? The guy who failed as a Mets’ GM and then was sacked at ESPN last year for boning a fellow employee? According to USA Today, Phillips was on the radio talking about the Barry Bonds’ trail, and said this: “Thank God for steroids. It brought the game back from extinction.” Two questions: 1) Why was the game about to be extinct? And since steroids are supposedly out of the game now, is it headed back toward extinction? I’m sure Bud Selig has nothing to worry about. Attendance is up and the revenue keeps rolling in! Wheee!

Ratings and attendance were down after the strike and continued to bottom out until the ’98 homerun chase between McGuire and Sosa.
It’s a little hyperbole about the game being extinct though…

I still remember his Jar Jar Binks girlfriend. TBL Community absolutely shredded her last year.

It re-airs on Friday nights, I think. But definitely it re-airs later in the night, and later in the week. PLus, all of your shows are on re-runs for two more weeks anyway.

Yes?

Follow up question: why write things that are intentionally meant to provoke a reaction and then blame people for reacting? You’re like the old testament God sometimes TBL.

The most shocking part was CRM’s reaction to the comments. He didn’t approve.
April 4th, 2011 at 12:49 PM
Why don’t I remember this?
April 4th, 2011 at 12:50 PM
He was upset that people were enjoying the mockery while someone’s life (Phillips) was falling apart.

CRM has a sensitive side? I never realized…
