San Francisco Giants Fan Beaten to a Pulp in Dodger Stadium Parking Lot
Giants-Dodgers: Three San Francisco Giants fans wore team gear to Dodger Stadium last night, and they were jumped in the parking lot. One of them was beaten “critically.” From the LA Times: “The unprovoked attack occurred about 8:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 2 when two men in Dodgers clothing approached three victims in Giants apparel, police said. The men then attacked the trio, kicking and punching them and shouting expletives about the Giants as they delivered the blows.” Looking for a silver lining? Only two fans were arrested for public intoxication last night at the Stadium; the number was 130 last year. [via @MikeNYC24]

If this were in Philly, you would never hear the end of it. Fuck the media’s Philly fans bias.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:30 PM
Was gonna say the same thing Mantis… Remember the guy that got shot after a Dodger game last year? The media sure doesnt. But snowballs at Santa 30 years later ZOMG!!!!

don’t fuck around in Chavez Ravine essay.

Philly fans are so mad they are going to go drive to Washington and put a couple of Redskins fans in a coma.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:34 PM
Or batteries thrown at JD Drew (I was at that game, there was some hot venom at that game)? Or the jail under the Vet? Or the other littany of things to hold against Philly fans?
And yet, Citizens Bank is going to be sold out for almost 2 1/2 years straight, Eagles season ticket waiting list is 30 years and Flyers fans are the most passionate US hockey fans.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:35 PM
Dude, went to many Dodger games as a kid, would NEVER take my kids there now…..baseball’s version of Raider fans
April 1st, 2011 at 12:36 PM
Golf clap for TVF’s Wrestlemania preview. Still torn if I should cough up the dough Sunday.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:36 PM
So in a story that’s not about Philly fans the complaint is that if it were Philly fans there’d be a story about it?
April 1st, 2011 at 12:36 PM

I heard Philly fans molest puppies.

I’m guessing that means kettle corn? And if so, then fuck yes on the mmmmmmmmm!
April 1st, 2011 at 12:37 PM
Dude, went to many Dodger games as a kid, would NEVER take my kids there now…..baseball’s version of Raider fans
Really? That seems rather at odds with the notion that Dodgers fans arrive in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7th.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:38 PM
The reaction would be different. Instead of “damn, this is awful” it’d be “typical Philly fans” and would be used against them until the end of time. It gets old.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:38 PM
is chipolte the place that everyone loses their shit about all the time? they put one in here finally, I need to see what all the fuss is about.

Flyers fans are the most passionate US hockey fans.
So passionate they sometimes fall into the penalty box. I wish Domi ahd taken a few rounds out of that guy.

It appears Phillymantis needs a WAAAHMBULANCE STAT, and a sexy one at that.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:39 PM
Just mentioning the media hypocrisy. Because you know this story won’t be on Sportscenter or PTI, but if this happens in Philly, we get painted as ogres.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:39 PM
One Flyers fan tried to pee on me back in PSU. They’re gross.

It’s pretty good. Great guacamole. The location near me though skimps on sour cream.

I would never raise my children to be Dodgers fans. What a horrible existence.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:40 PM
It’s great as long as you don’t have it all the time. If you get spoiled by it, it’s not so big a deal. My fiance LOVED it when she first moved here and was mad there were none here. Now there are 5 in the area, and we haven’t been in 6 months.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:40 PM
Being passionate doesn’t exclude you from being an asshole.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:41 PM
I’ve heard some horror stories about the interaction between fans at these games, it’s what ESPN wants people to think of the Yankee-Red Sox rivalry
Both literally and figuratively…I do like it however

No disputes there. There’s plenty of asshole fans in every city. However, the broad stroke that’s painted for Philly fans is kinda ridiculous.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:42 PM

It’s not the entire fanbase, but there is definitely a percentage that get drunk and want to fight. Don’t need to hear some tool drop 2,348 F-bombs in front of my five-year old
April 1st, 2011 at 12:44 PM
So in a story that’s not about Philly fans the complaint is that if it were Philly fans there’d be a story about it?
Yeah, but we would have made it a full post with two more paragraphs and a picture if it was Philly.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:45 PM
Everyone knows you don’t wear the opposing teams’ colors to Dodger games. Unless you want to get stabbed in the parking lot. My first month in LA I wore a Pujols jersey when the Cards were in town. I was warmly greeted with, “You got a lotta sack wearin that shit, punto.”
April 1st, 2011 at 12:45 PM
That’s true. I’m disgusted at the lower 25% of the ‘new’ Sox/Pats fans. Championship breed a special kind of obnoxious bandwagon asshole.

Can’t really argue with that statement. It’s a shame. The scenery out there is kick-ass.

Though I do think all this fuss has ensured that someone will be beaten up, stabbed, shot, or spit on at CBP today..
April 1st, 2011 at 12:48 PM
Eh, they’re never as tough as they say they are once they see a slightly larger mean muggin black guy. You guys need to be friends with more of those.
April 1st, 2011 at 12:48 PM
Still, Dodger fans aren’t as bad as Raider fans.

people are still scared of the mean mugging black guy? i counter that with the white guy who isnt afraid of a black guy mean mugging..the mean mugger thinking “shit i mean mugged and he doesnt give a shit..what do i do now?” cracks me up

baseball’s version of Raider fans
Really? That seems rather at odds with the notion that Dodgers fans arrive in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7th.
Let me throw in here. Probably should refresh before I start typing but, oh well, here we go. The guys that start these fights show up at about 4pm for 7pm start times and pound suds in the parking lot (the one under the Think Blue sign). They aren’t like Raiders fans they are Raiders fans. And they don’t leave early. I honestly get a thrill out of this stuff but I can certainly understand the fear. These dudes crack me up with their jeers and boos during the game. Of course, I don’t go to Dodgers Stadium and cheer for the road team. Unless it’s the Orioles but that was the emptiest I’ve ever seen the stadium
April 1st, 2011 at 12:54 PM
Are we going to get a post for every Dodgers/Giants game? Because this happens at all of them
April 1st, 2011 at 12:56 PM

You’re right Pittsburgh takes the cake of D-bag fanbases, let’s end the discussion there.

Says the guy from the city who doesn’t understand football. I never fail to be amazed at how many Steeler fans don’t really fully grasp important concepts of football. Such as “rookie QB in playoffs against Bill Belichick with his starting RB is not the same as week 8 regular season”
April 1st, 2011 at 12:58 PM
There aren’t that many of them. And they aren’t the types of guys that need to be deterred. Of course, tough white guy doesn’t know that he can still get his monkey ass made famous.

I had forgotten about that meme. Nice to have you back sanders.
And I don’t think there are many d-bag Pirates fans, but I think a history of recent success is a pre-requisite for douchebaggery.

My seven-year-old grudge.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:27 PM
Belichick is such a genius, he makes Pats fans smart by osmosis. Didn’t the Pats nearly move twice in the last twenty years? Great football region up there. Boston fans acting like they’re the aficionados on football because they’re team is smart is the equivalent to yinzers pretending like they “know and love” baseball if the Bucs ever got good again.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:27 PM
That dude at the Wal-Mart didn’t fare so well.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:37 PM
Might be about the dumbest reply on this thread, not to mention you don’t really address what I said or what my grudge was, nor do you know, other than that it was a great random diatribe direct at, umm, not really sure…
April 1st, 2011 at 1:39 PM
Since when does the skill of a pro team or coach determine how much someone knows about football? If all you know is what you watch Sunday from 1-4, chances are you are wearing black and gold anyway.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:41 PM
And if that is a Duquense avatar, then no explaination is necessary. Duquesne is good if you want a statue of scary Jesus… that’s about it.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:45 PM
So, because Steelers fans thought their team could win the AFC Championship despite having a rookie QB and facing Corey Dillon, they’re dumb and don’t grasp football? The did go 15-1 and had the #1 defense and pounded the Pats on the ground in the regular season meeting so it wasn’t like they were some awful team with no chance.
If fans were saying that “We’re even” after the the AFC title game, then I’m not going to defend them.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:47 PM
Some yinzer in Hemingway’s owes me $20. Most fans I knew thought the Steelers were still better and the playoffs was a fluke. Basically every asshole that works at Mineo’s.
How is scary Jesus, anyway?
April 1st, 2011 at 1:50 PM
Either team COULD have won… to say the Patriots had no chance and start making SB plans was incredibly ignorant by them. I also then got into it this year with some idiots on thatschurch who basically said they didn’t care about head injuries and didn’t think it was an issue (and if I did I could go watch flag football). So my sample of Steelers fans isn’t exactly the top of the, um, something with a top that is better than its bottom.
April 1st, 2011 at 1:53 PM
How is scary Jesus, anyway?
I don’t know, haven’t seen him in a while. I’m sure he’s in some pain. Can’t you see him from your ivory tower of learning in Oakland?
April 1st, 2011 at 1:56 PM
If this were in Philly, you would never hear the end of it. Fuck the media’s Philly fans bias
sheeeet. if that happened in philly it woulda made the entertainment section, not the news
April 1st, 2011 at 1:58 PM
Who said they had no chance in 2004? Fans? The Pats were favored by Vegas. The Steelers said nothing of the sort in 2004.
If you’re thinking of 2001, then yeah they were pretty cocky and in denial they lost. As for the packing of bags, both teams packed bags since you head to the city the week of the SB and there was no bye week for SB XXXVI due to 9/11.
April 1st, 2011 at 2:52 PM
Yep, fans… a lot of them surprisingly. And fans making SB plans, believe it or not. I didn’t think the Pats were favored in 2004, but it should have been pretty even either way in my guess.
Though since you say
…I’ll drop the whole thing. Every ounce of Steeler hatred I have started with the whole denying the Patriots their glory after 30 years of ineptitude. Nice to hear someone actually admit that. Plus, the Jets are taking over my hatred and I don’t have enough hate to go around.
PS Ivory tower? Never heard that one… also haven’t been in Oakland in 5 years.
April 1st, 2011 at 3:23 PM
Since you took a jab at Duquesne, I was taking a jab at Pitt and the Catherdral since many Pitt fans/alums I know of can be rather arrogant and dismissive about anybody that didn’t attend school at Pitt or root for Pitt. So I will bury the hatchet as well.
/Unless you want to rip on me at another time.
