I’m sure this is systemic in a lot of places ( I didn’t watch the Frontline program, because that show is long), but I can’t connect the lines from instances like this to the conclusion “pay the players.” How do you stop boosters from handing players cash when nobody is looking? Because the players who are getting the cash aren’t going to turn themselves in, and the boosters aren’t going to rat themselves out. So Auburn is going to tell on Alabama, and vice versa, and you’ll occasionally get a Bruce Pearl type who mounts a high horse before realizing that cheating is just easier.
But cash in a sack is a veritable institution in college football, right?
