Shaka Smart and VCU Are Going to the Elite 8 (And So is Kentucky)

UNC and Kansas rolled in their Sweet 16 openers tonight, but Kentucky and VCU won thrilling finishes with game-winning baskets in the final ten seconds to advance to the Elite 8. After the jump, watch UK’s Brandon Knight hit a game-winning jumper to knock out the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, Ohio State.

anyone else notice the clock issue on the VCU game? They inbound the pass with 7.0 seconds left. After the basket the clock stops again with 7.1 seconds. Strange.

Memphis is one Derrick Williams block/foul away from upsetting Arizona, a team that’s clearly played the best basketball of the Sweet 16 round. So yeah, woe are the Tigers and all that. And, save a Dr. J tenure, what, exactly, has UMass basketball been in the history of college basketball?
