Kobe Bryant Still Bashing Smush Parker
After Kobe Bryant’s emotional performance on Monday night, he was asked how important it was to have Derek Fisher and if he missed Fish when he was playing elsewhere. This gave Kobe an opportunity to bring up his favorite whipping boy, Smush Parker. “You mean when I was throwing to Smush? I shot with three motherf****** on me. That’s the difference. Now I only shoot w/ one, maybe two.” I’ve always said Derek Fisher was good enough to distract at least one motherf*****. And keeping with our old Kobe vs. LeBron debate, I bet we never hear LeBron use the word motherf***** when he’s talking about a former teammate. He’s too nice a guy. (LA Times)

Classy guy.
Smush shot 37% from 3 as a Laker. It’s not like the dude was Eric Snow.

Poor Smush.
Pride of my alma mater. Ugh, Fordham.

this is one of those CLEAR times when stats don’t tell you how much of a disaster a player was. That guy was a fucking moron.
Don’t blame Kobe at all.
PLus, Smush took a shot at him as well, and Kobe won’t forget that.

He’s had a lot of big moments in the playoffs, starting from the first three peat.
Also, Kobe swears way too much, its annoying.

Smush was the prince of of “drive down the line uncontrollably and throw up an out of control layup”…the king? Milt Palacio as a Raptor. That guy was fucking terrible.

Can’t argue that he has had playoff moments. But he’s a career 9 ppg and 3 apg guy who shoots 40%. Nothing special.

Intricate to winning rings. He’s special. And I’m not being sarcastic. I’m not the biggest D-Fish guy either, but you can’t deny what he means to Kobe and the rest of the Lakers.

He’s one of those players whose leadership on and off the court don’t show up in stats. In sports, that kind of thing makes a difference. Its why veteran players stick around on teams despite not contributing much.
Fisher is more of a steady presence of leadership; he’s more vocal than Kobe is, who likes to just yell at the players for messing up.

The biggest thing is Kobe trusts and respects D-Fish. He plays the game the right way and has earned his stripes.

I think this is just pure out of spite. He hates the guy.
March 22nd, 2011 at 11:25 AM
Both Shaq and Kobe have admitted that Fischer was one of the only guys on the team able to bridge the gaps between them during their championship run. I’m not a big “intangibles” guy, but Fish is one of the few guys that I do believe in, damn the stats.
And as previuosly said, Smush is literally one of the dumbest players to ever come into the NBA. He’s like the Gus Frerotte of the NBA.

Totally different discussion if he’d played with Delonte West.
