In a strange move, the New York Mets have cut ties with two of their worst players; pitcher, Oliver Perez and 2nd baseman, Luis Castillo. These moves have left Mets fans feeling… happy. To compound this unfamiliar feeling, the Mets’ NL East rival, Philadelphia Phillies have decided to give the washed up second baseman a tryout for the rest of spring training. (Images via Getty)

Funny story: My friend is a gigantic Mets fan – and purely by coincidence is a raging alcoholic – and he’s a season ticket holder. On the emails that the team sends out to people to get them to purchase tickets, they used Oliver Perez as a selling point. Nice to know the Mets have their finger on the pulse of their fanbase.

The best part of his is that the Phillies are giving Castillo a shot. Somehow, some way, please let him hang around and make the team. I want his suckiness to continue negatively affecting NL East teams not in Atlanta.
