Watch Virginia Blow a 10-Point Lead with :38 Left and Lose in Overtime to Miami
This chart is all you really need to know about the one-for-the-ages Virginia-Miami finish yesterday in the ACC tournament.
The Cavs led by 10 with :38 left before Miami hit a few bombs, the Cavaliers lost the ability to inbound the ball or make free throws, and the Hurricanes forced overtime. The Daily Progress compared the collapse to the 35-3 Oilers-Bills NFL playoff game and the 2004 Yankees (3-0 series lead on Boston). Rob Daniels (an old colleague), freelancing for the Miami Herald, does the damn thing. Somewhere, Sean Singletary, Bryant Stith and Donald Hand are weeping. [vid via Ballin is a Habit]

I guess I should be more proud of the Canes for this accomplishment than I really am. I mean I guess it’s cool but now we get our brains smushed in by Carolina.

Wow, solid effort. Reminds me of that Duke comeback vs Maryland too, when Jay Williams went off and scored like 12 points in :10 secs.

I’m so happy I wasn’t in a position to watch this take place live. I might have broken something.
Whatever, next year will be better. Right, Tony Bennett?

My rule of thumb here is that if Roy Williams doesn’t care about this tournament then I won’t either

My brother’s high school team did something like this… down 12 with about a minute left. Something pretty amazing to watch in person.

That chart was really confusing.

That was Reggie vs. the Knicks-esque.

Bite me.
Reminds me of the Gator Bowl against Texas Tech a couple of years ago. I was there with some buddies. Up 21 with 5 to play and we lost. Oh, the agony of being a Wahoo.

Oh that was fucking ridiculous. I nearly punched a hole in the wall of my apartment in Cville watching that with one of my roommates.

I think it’s worse than the MD-Duke game, esp when you consider they blew the lead in 42 seconds (as opposed to 1 minute), and that Miami had multiple chances to win the game in regulation. It was more of a UVa collapse than a Miami comeback – they had FOUR turnovers in the last 20 seconds. Miami had multiple chances to win in regulation and couldnt do it.
