Kevin O’Neill, the fiery USC coach, was out celebrating the Trojans’ Pac-10 tournament win last night when they bumped into some Arizona fans. According to Point Guard U, trash talk was exchanged and something went down between O’Neill’s wife and an Arizona fan.

The website (which has photos, purportedly from last night, in which a rumpled O’Neill has a drink in hand) claims the USC coach and his wife were escorted from their hotel – the JW Marriott – by security. USC AD Pat Haden quickly released a statement about the incident, and said it is “gathering facts.”

USC plays top-seeded Arizona tonight at 9 pm.

If there were as many Arizona fans present as Point Guard U implies, hopefully someone will produce video.

[UPDATE: Here's a profile from 2008 on O'Neill's wife ... who was 31 at the time. Kevin O'Neill is 54. They met when he was coaching the Raptors. "Roberta was working in Toronto with a restaurant/distillery group that helped open fine-dining establishments, and in walked O’Neill, the head coach of the Toronto Raptors, with an assistant and the team’s strength coach." She's a singer. I particularly enjoyed this tidbit: "During a game at USC, Roberta couldn’t understand why fans were calling her husband a 'Jim Boeheim wannabe,' referring to the longtime Syracuse coach.
