Ballin’: Channing Frye Makes Game-Winning Shots. That’s What He Does
Chicago 105, Washington 77: Joakim Noah had his first double-figure scoring game since returning from injury, and the Bulls pulled within a game of the Heat for 2nd place in the East. Leading MVP candidate Derrick Rose scored 21 points, but he’s shot under 42 percent from the field in his last four games, and is only 6-for-23 from deep in that span. Miami plays at Orlando Thursday on TNT, then at Miami Sunday on ABC.
LA Clippers 99, Sacramento 105: Marcus Thornton filled the Tyreke Evans scoring void, scoring 29 points in 27 minutes as the Kings overwhelmed the Clippers in the 4th quarter. Thornton scored 16 in the fourth in the last game at “Arco Arena.” It’ll now be known as “Power Balance Pavilion.” Just go to Anaheim already. Oh, I almost forgot: 27 points and 12 rebounds for Blake Griffin, plus this dunk. Mo Williams scored 16 in his Paper Clip debut and tossed a couple nice alley-oop passes.
Phoenix 104, New Jersey 103, OT: That shot made Maria Sharapova happy. Deron Williams had a solid home debut – 13 points, 18 assists. Mr. Kim Kardashian had 16 points and took 15 rebounds but his tip-in came just after the buzzer or the Nets wouldn’t be losers of six in a row. The Heat wish they had Channing Frye. He made two game-winning shots for Phoenix in a span of 36 hours.
Boston 107, Utah 102: Al Jefferson’s 28-19 must have thrilled Utah fans – he’s played some of his best ball this year in the last five games (without Deron Williams). Plus, he stepped to Kevin Garnett, which is something any NBA fan could be proud of.
Denver 100, Atlanta 90: The Nuggets improved to 3-1 without Carmelo Anthony thanks to balance – five players in double figures. They were led by two players who came off the bench (and would start for most teams) – Ray Felton (16 points, seven assists) and JR Smith (19 points). Recently-married Mozgov didn’t play again, and Gallo’s got a toe injury that will sideline him for a week or two. The Nuggets are tied with the Hornets for the 5th seed in the West. I’m sure OKC would rather play New Orleans.

Channing Fyre is WINNING.
March 1st, 2011 at 10:45 AM
Wins are against Memphis, Boston, and now Atlanta with their only loss being a one-point defeat in OT at Portland. The team is balanced and has a ton of depth. Karl seems revitalized as well.

The Bulls are at Miami on Sunday, play the Magic in Orlando Friday night on ESPN…glad they took care of business against crappy teams to start the road trip, the Atlanta-Orlando-Miami stretch coming up here won’t be easy

Brooks to Warrick was a pretty sick dunk last night. He hangs on the rim like a ……..hmm no good way to say that.

As a baseball traditionalist, I’d kill anyone for jumping from the Orioles to the Nats.

Taking out the beast from the regular east, two guns up, and MJOT and crew tonight, baby.
March 1st, 2011 at 10:55 AM
It is. He has a wonderful shot for a tall guy. He has been playing really well. One of the signings that Robert Sarver did correctly. Josh Childress….not so much.

they’re not really new anymore, so you might be able to find some for cheap, even tho they’re not that much of an upgrade over your mp-60′s.

How quickly? He’s been in the MVP discussion for a couple months, lawya. Pretty much a 2 man race between him and LeBron.

No room for Duncan or Durantula in that race?

The Irish signal has been lit
Pretty cool that there were enough fans in Washington last night to get an MVP chant going…he really isn’t playing all that well since the break though, need more blowouts to save the legs a little bit
March 1st, 2011 at 11:07 AM
they’re not really new anymore

Lately every time I turn on a basketball game, Doris Burke is there. Didn’t realize ESPN thought she was so great.

Ive seen Lebron 2 games in the past week. MVL?
March 1st, 2011 at 11:17 AM
She does good work, TBL has an odd dislike for her but I’ll take her actually breaking down the game over the likes of Vitale any day
March 1st, 2011 at 11:18 AM

Spoiler. Nolan is going to break Batman.
March 1st, 2011 at 11:27 AM
ill, now might be the time to jump on the Nats bandwagon
If he is going to betray the O’s he might as well go north and be a Phillie fan. That bandwagon is so big no one will notice he just jumped on. Plus Citizen Bank Park is the best park I have visited, the only drawback is it is filled with Philly fans.
March 1st, 2011 at 11:28 AM

That is a really nice stadium. But PNC, Comerica, and Safeco are all better, IMO.

You might be right, never been to those 3, I am an East Coast guy, so it is Boston, New York, Philly, Baltimore and the minor leagues in between. Been meaning to do a PNC trip for three years, and D.C. is likely soon.
March 1st, 2011 at 11:31 AM
PNC pwns. I would trade 5 of the Yankees championships for it.
March 1st, 2011 at 11:35 AM
you’d probably enjoy jacob’s field too.

I would likely enjoy visiting them all at some point.

Jacob’s Field is great as is PNC and Camden Yards. Too bad all the teams suck (especially the last one).
March 1st, 2011 at 11:46 AM
I love Fenway. Great experiences both times I’ve been. Never been to Camden Yards, but would love to go there.
