The previous record was 45 times by three players – G Mitch Petrus, DE Mike Kudla and DT Leif Larsen. Does this incredible feat even matter? That depends. Have you heard of those guys? Are they NFL stars?

don’t think any of these guys were even first day selections. but petrus is in the league. in fact, I think he has a legit shot at a starting job next fall.

but maybe you should also look at guys like DeMarcus Ware who had speed and agility times of defensive backs in some drills and vaulted him to the top of the draft. but let’s ignore those guys.

This would seem like a negative to me (being at the far end of the rep curve) it probably means you have short arms in addition to being strong. The shorter the arms, the less force required to loft the same weight to full extension. And short arms are not usually a positive for a lineman

In regards to the original video, the guys who can bench press the most are guys who are naturally endomorphs (fat) and have a stubblier bone structure in thier arms so their extension when doing the BP is much shorter. While this is quite impressive, I’d be much more impressed if a guy with a smaller build did it. For example, the fact that Earl Boykins can bench 315 lbs is fucking ridiculous.
