Ballin’: Knicks Stun the Heat in Miami
New York 91, Miami 86: Coming off a loss in Cleveland, and because they trailed late in the fourth quarter, yes, this was a spectacular win for the Knicks. New York won it with – gasp! – defense, limiting Miami to just 52 points in the final three quarters. Miami turned the ball over 20 times, including a pivotal one by Chris Bosh in the final minute down one. D Wade (5-of-15) was locked down by Bill Walker (10 points, seven rebounds in 25 minutes). Carmelo scored 29 points, the Knicks closed the game on a 13-2 run, and there are several videos after the jump, starting with Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups, sinking a long 3-pointer late to give the Knicks the lead. Listen to how loud the arena gets.
Here’s a tremendous spin move Carmelo put on LeBron in the first half. Textbook.
Mario Chalmers heard footsteps. He had a bad game (2-7 shooting, zero assists, two turnovers in 24 minutes), and supposedly, the Heat are going to put the full court press on Mike Bibby today.
While this was a sweet dunk, it’s too bad that LeBron once again couldn’t perform.
Oklahoma City 87, LA Lakers 90: Kevin Durant – unclutch! He missed a 3-pointer that would have sent the game to overtime, and then James Harden missed one too, and the Thunder fell to 1-8 vs. the Lakers in the last two years. Durant, who called for the ball in the huddle before OKC’s last possession, is now 2-of-12 on game-tying 3-pt FG attempts in the last minute of regulation or overtime in the last three seasons. Here’s Russell Westbrook’s first left-handed dunk in an NBA game.
Philadelphia 95, Cleveland 91: The 76ers quietly remain just one game back of the Knicks for the 6th spot in the East. That’s absurd. The winner probably gets the Heat or Bulls, which is like saying to your friend, “I’ll take the grenade, you take the gargoyle. No, you want to switch? Fine.”
Phoenix 110, Indiana 108: Channing Frye won it, but the real story was Grant Hill’s 34 points – the most he’s had in a game since 2005.
Golden State 123, Minnesota 125: Usually, when you scored a combined 75 points in the 1st and fourth quarters, you win. Not the Warriors, who let the Wolves collected 25 offensive rebounds. Minnesota was 12-for-25 from three, Kevin Love dropped 37-23, and rookie Wesley Johnson blocked a Monta Ellis shot in the final seconds to preserve the win.
Orlando 100, Charlotte 86: Shaun Livingston – what might have been.

LAKERS
February 28th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
Wow, 5 videos for a regular season game in February.
Let’s just all get a hold of ourselves a bit…..
/Lakers-Celtics Finals coming
February 28th, 2011 at 11:05 AM
Spike Lee was making me angry last night.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
Once you get TBL’s attention watch out.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
When will the discussion for Knicks for #2 seed in East start?
/don’t forget what they did the game before Heat
February 28th, 2011 at 11:07 AM
G-Money is a stud.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
I would enjoy the new Knicks a lot more if he wasn’t around. Fuck that guy.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
They lost to the Cavs. So did the Lakers. And the Celtics.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
The Heat just look atrocious in half-court sets. And Chauncey has looked great since arriving in NY. Why did the pistons get rid of him and keep hamilton?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
why? I thought you were a knicks fan?
I was not impressed with the knicks last night. They are the Dortmund of NBA, wildly over-rated.
/fanning the flame
February 28th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
Good game, good win, that’s all. No bold proclamations were made.
Figured most people watched the Oscars, hence the multiple vids
February 28th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
So, when does the CAVS for the #2 seed conversation start?
/wanking motion
February 28th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
He’s the only one on that team actually performing.
/Wade is a bitch
February 28th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
And those three games account for more then a quarter of Cleveland’s wins this season.
/Go Cavs?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
Well this certainly takes some of the shine off that win last Thursday.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
i never understood why people watched the oscars, but whatevs.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
I am. And I like Spike. But there was a possession where the ball went out of bounds and he was screaming at the ref. Sit yo ass down, Spike.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
Fact.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
The Bulls lost in Toronto the night before beating the Heat, probably something to teams looking ahead to taking on Miami
February 28th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
You know what sucks? 4 of the top 5 draft picks in 03 played in that game. While the other had about 2 points in 12 min last night. Fuck Joe Dumars.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
B/c it makes for a great drinking game.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
By the way, Stern needs to come down with a mandate to the referees to stop bailing out superstar athletes who drive into the lane and initiate contact with the defender to get a foul called. Lebron James does it all the time. If it’s 30 seconds or less left in a game, you can guarandamntee that he will drive to the basket and at the first sign of contact flail his arms like he got shot.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
If Dortmund is wildly overrated, then Bayern is a stinking, steaming pile of Monkey Crap.
/hands Der Kaiser a broom
February 28th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
I enjoyed watching how stoned Franco was last night.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
Embarrassing for the Heat. That crowd sucks. Chanting Let’s Go Knicks. Just as many Knicks fans as Heat fans in attendance. What a joke of a sports town.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:13 AM
He was being a complete ass.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:13 AM
Because Joe had a mancrush on AI and thought Stuckey was gonna be a star. Also he wanted to clear all that cap space to make a run at free agents. It didn’t work out….
February 28th, 2011 at 11:13 AM
FAN THE FUCK UP!!!!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
I hate Joe D. I know he won a championship as the GM (sorry, President of Basketball Operations or whatever his title is), but he really is not good at his job. He signed Chauncey and made two trades. But he hasn’t done shit since trading for ‘Sheed. I hope the new owner fires his ass.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
It’ll never happen. The Lakers-Thunder contest was refreshing to see the refs let them play for the most part yesterday afternoon though.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
Thunder are going to overtake the Lakers either by the end of this year or next year. They don’t finish the game strong enough and still make critical mistakes in crunch time. Durants numbers may not get better over time but his decision making and shot selection should get better as he gets older.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:15 AM
If Miami losses but their “fans” weren’t there to witness it, did it really happen?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
He would’ve cleared more cap space by trading Hamilton! Instead he gives him an extension. And thinking Stuckey was gonna be a star is just proof (as if anyone needed more proof after the darko debacle) that Joe D can’t evaluate talent. He probably gets lap dances from the fat bitches at a strip club.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Don’t forget about the brillant signings of Ben Gordon and eyebrows. I knew that was the end after that.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Why? Last night’s result was great, the Bulls are now closer to the 2 seed which I want for them since it will mean not having to take on a good team in the first round (no offense to the Sixers)
February 28th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
Embarrassing for the Heat. That crowd sucks. Chanting Let’s Go Knicks. Just as many Knicks fans as Heat fans in attendance. What a joke of a sports town.
you know that about 40% of South Florida’s 5 million people are NYC/NJ transplants, right?
/evidently not
February 28th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
I’m not sure who to root for in a Miami-New York matchup. I’m inclined to root for the Knicks, but rooting for a New York team feels dirty.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
Thunder are going to overtake the Lakers either by the end of this year or next year. They don’t finish the game strong enough and still make critical mistakes in crunch time. Durants numbers may not get better over time but his decision making and shot selection should get better as he gets older.
3-18 vs. the Lakers in the last 21, but I’m sure they will win 4 out of 7 in a couple of months….
February 28th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
What was really telling was outmanned the Lakers bench was by James Harden and the Thunder’s second team. It took a monster effort by the starters in the 3rd quarter to get back even.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
I was taking a shot at the Knicks, Butters.
/tops off Butters’ coffee
February 28th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
If Rip would just accept a buyout. He could be playing for a championship contending team right now. What a jack ass.

February 28th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
How the hell did Davidson approve those contracts? Probably b/c his old ass was about to die. Fuck Joe Dumars.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Theyre all transplants from NY anyway.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
those heat-knicks playoff battles were so hard to watch. Just bad basketball masked by hatred and big market hype. Hopefully if they build up a new rivalry, the games will be easier to watch.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
This too.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Maybe they do. Thunder are close right now. Most likely it will be next year.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Root for a 7 game series and many injuries.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
The possession before the final one where the Thunder turned it over was ridiculous. They showed a replay of Durant trying to get free. Artest had his hands wrapped around him, holding him and then an OKC player came over with a illegal moving screen where he chucked his elbows into Artest. It’s dissapointing to see this, it’s not how basketball is supposed to be.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
You probably will. Going to be tough to keep the band together after this year. Dortmund swears they are going to keep everyone. Hopefully the Spanish and English teams (except for Liverpool) keep their grubby fingers to themselves.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:22 AM
The Bulls lost in Toronto the night before beating the Heat,
Damn it Butters!
/it was a road game
//in another country
///the weather was bad!!!!!!!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:22 AM
eyebrows
Is that a CV reference? +1
February 28th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Rip is certainly a jackass, but he’s due $12.65 million in each of the next TWO seasons. No way his buyout would have been anywhere close to that, nor would he be able to get anything approximating those dollars as a free agent. Maybe he realizes he sucks, and he needs to keep all the money he can.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
At least Ben Gordon can ball. If you give him minutes he can shoot the lights out. Charlie V on the other hand, is garbage.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
I think they can keep hold for one more year. But that’s it. If gotze and hummels put on the same performance next year, it’s over. Teams from all over europe will come with the godfather deals.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
**clears throat**
KNICKS in 7!!!
/goes back to work
February 28th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
I just hope the owners are pushing for contracts that are not 100% guaranteed.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
But BG doesn’t get enough minutes, b/c Dumars thought Stuckey could run the point, which is epically false. So stuckey is getting a lot of minutes at the 2. And yes, CV is pure garbage.
I just keep telling myself Monroe is gonna be a good. He’s looked it the past month or so.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
At least Ben Gordon can ball
Couldn’t cover a bed.
But wished he was still with Bulls right now, but not for the stupid money the Pistons gave him.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
I’m sure they are pushing for that, but I don’t think that’s right. GMs just need to learn how to evaluate a player’s worth and stop being retarded about contracts.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
Kevin Durant – unclutch!
Actually we were looking for Lamar Odom…
February 28th, 2011 at 11:28 AM
Whatever happened to Will Bynum?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:28 AM
They offered 18M, supposedly. Fucking insult, that’s what that is. Obviously not enough to feed his family!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
Easier said than done.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
i think that’s ridiculous. anyone stupid enough to sign a player like eddy curry or baron davis should be stuck with them.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
Where are you when he scores 40 and carries the Heat when Lebron is scoring 12 points?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
He’s getting a lot of minutes running the point, with stuckey at the 2. If Joe Dumars offers Stuckey an extension this summer, someone should beat the fuck out of him.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Can you imagine how horrible the NFL would be if contracts were guaranteed?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Or Larry Hughes.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
I find it funny when Lebron fanboys act as if Wade doesn’t contribute anything to that team and is a filler player or something.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
If Gotze is here after this year, I’ll be shocked. But they should definitely try to hold on to the squad for as long as possible just for the sake of competing in Champions next year (/pants tighten).
February 28th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
I’d say its 50/50 that he extends both Stuckey and Prince!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
I know, but teams have to pay the price for being ran poorly. What, you gave tons of money to Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva? Well, now you’re going to suck for five years b/c you don’t know how to operate with a salary cap.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
Will bynum had 29 points Friday. hes the best player on the Pistons right now.
If rip gets bought out hes going to the bulls.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
Sigh.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
I see what you are saying Spencer and Watson but how many times does a bs contract for a shitty player kill a team in the NBA(baseball too, look at the tribe and pronk). I’m thinking something like 3 yrs of a 5yr deal would be guranteed.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
He’s getting a lot of minutes running the point, with stuckey at the 2.
IfWHEN Joe Dumars offers Stuckey an extension this summer, someone should beat the fuck out of him./Fixed on account of Joe’s head being up his ass
February 28th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
it’s not that, it’s just that he has the exact same skillset as lebron except he’s smaller, more injury prone, worse rebounder, less range, etc.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
I hated that guy in Detriot’s title years, and I hate him more now. Stop complaining about your god damn team when you’re going to be nixing a trade that gets you out of a place you hate. what a tool.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
No way. Prince is gone. Gonna go sign an MLE somewhere (if that exists after the new CBA).
February 28th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
sounds good in principle but there’s too much sympathy for owners that don’t deserve it in that scenario.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Gonna need some VORP or something to back that one up. Think Wade is a considerably better jump shooter than ya boy. The other ones are all totally valid.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Any time someone mentions Eddy Curry, I can’t help but think of this story.
Poor Eddy Curry. He sat on the giant blue physio-ball during a break from Monday’s practice and the ball exploded. Eddy fell and scraped and his wrist but should be okay. The ball, which is used for stretching exercises, was pronounced dead at the scene.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
I know it’s bad for the NBA when teams suck. But if they allow contracts not to be guaranteed, that only means more shitty contracts will be given.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
LeBrons scored 12 or less once this year. Wades done it 4 times.
I know what I’m getting from LeBron every single night, somewhere around 25-7-7. Wade’s averages are a only little lower but his consistency is terrible. He goes for 40 one night and 10 the next.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
Don’t forget less versatile. But he is a much more technical one on one guy, and that’s only because LeBron doesn’t really need to be.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
I see what you are saying Spencer and Watson but how many times does a bs contract for a shitty player kill a team in the NBA(baseball too, look at the tribe and pronk). I’m thinking something like 3 yrs of a 5yr deal would be guranteed.
Or you could just fire your shitty GM and take your medicine…like everyone else does in business when you make poor decisions.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
Would you leave $11 million guaranteed on the table to chase a ring that you already have?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
The Knicks are good enough for a 10 seed in the west.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
Exactly.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
Well LeBron is actually a better 3 point shooter than Wade.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
People used to call Curry Baby Shaq….or was that Big Baby?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
This.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
just go to 3pt%…lebron’s better.
wade’s got a shitty jumper.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Wade is 100% better from mid range.
I would say they are equally effective around the basket, though Wade is obviously at a disadvantage in comparison cause Lebron is bigger.
Lebron is more crucial for the Heat, but Wade has put up a lot of big games this season, which the media tends to ignore.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:39 AM
It is amusing reading the Rip hate on here. First I’ll direct you to comment 53, then I’ll just say this isn’t the first time a player has had words for his coach when things got heated.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:39 AM
that’s because lebron is better than wade in almost every conceivable way except for championships and number of testicles.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Wouldn’t he only be leaving like 6 million on the table? And if you’re not gonna accept the buyout, quit boycotting your fucking coach. Go earn your money. Rip Hamilton and Joe Dumars can go get ass-raped.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
God. I just went and looked at career totals. Wade needs to never ever shoot threes again.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Wade is the single most “dependant on the refs” player that the NBA has ever seen. I’m not saying that he doesn’t have a ton of skills, but if he had to play with 90′s refs he would score around 18 a game.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:41 AM
This isn’t true.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:41 AM
Valid argument, I guess im thinking from the fans perspective. Why should they suffer for a gms bad decisions. I think this allows teams to hit reset and allow them to have a chance again.
I also think players tend to perform better knowing not every $ is guaranteed. Just my opinion.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
Wade (at 6’4″) actually has a better post game. That’s only because LeBron (now in his 8th year in the NBA) hasn’t ever considered developing one.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
As a fan of a team with a horrible GM, part of me agrees with this. But I’m trying not to be biased. I think teams should not have that easy reset button.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
that’s horseshit.
lebron’s jump shot eFG = .458
wade’s jump shot eFG = .427
February 28th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
LeBron’s midrange game consists of taking jumpers one foot in front of the three pt line.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
Thank you Spence.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:45 AM
They need to start giving D Wade the ball in clutch situations. Lebron is just trying to get a call.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:45 AM
you know why jimi hendrix never needed guitar lessons? because he was already better than everyone else.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
This. Its crazy to argue otherwise. DWade is a bigger bitch than Lebron, though.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
And DWade wouldn’t be doing the same thing? Paging Bennett Salvatore!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Despite terrible three point shooting, Wade is shooting at a 50% clip this season.
http://www.rototimes.com/nba/player_comparison.php
As for injury prone….he has played in 2 less games than Lebron.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
and he still shoots for a better % than wade.
/laughs for 20 minutes straight
//gives bo a video of the 2006 nba finals
February 28th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
ONIONS
February 28th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
They would be better off if LeBron actually was driving to the line looking for a call instead of settling for a three. Most of the time, a Superstar is getting that call.
Ask Mark Cuban.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
Caps trade 3rd in 2011 and Jake Hauswirth to FLA for defenseman Dennis Wideman.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
Also, you’re telling me you trust Lebron shooting a midrange J over Wade?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
a lot of big men have called baby Shaq at one point or another. Hell, there was some guy from Greece who was called baby shaq.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
It’s fuck over Detroit long term day!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
yes, because a) as the stats i provided above prove…lebron shoots jump shots at a better % than wade and b) lebron is 4 inches taller, more athletic and not a faggot and can get his shot off better.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
Lebron seems like the type of guy that’d rather pass and deflect the blame of the loss to someone else than take big shots….probably because when he shoots a big shot (e.g – yesterday’s brick three pointer), its a miracle when it goes in.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
This does not explain why LeBron refuses to develop a post game despite the fact that he has a huge size advantage on every other SF in the game.
Unless your comparison is insinuating that LeBron was tripping on acid during Game 5 against the Celtics, I have no idea where you are going with this.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:51 AM
it’d be nice if you based your arguments on reality.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:51 AM
I wouldn’t give him that. But I can live with it. Just means Crawford will be getting over 2 mil.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:51 AM
damnit…old link.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
Come on spence, don’t let numbers get in the way of a debate. And LeBron’s a fag too so leave that out.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
Im just saying Lebron is 0-2 in the past week in the clutch. Someone needs a chance.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
Well, it would be a buyout of the rest of the year + next two, so that’s where I get the almost $11 million.
Agreed on second part. He’s a complete piece of shit.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
This. Surprisingly very little mention of the fact that there shouldn’t have been a “last shot” in everyone’s efforts to show that the Lakers are barely hanging on. Getting Matt Barnes back will help with issues like Harden. Artest can’t check everyone, and Fisher can’t check anyone.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:53 AM

Emphasis on the word SEEMS. Never a good way to enter a debate.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:53 AM
This.
What he emans is, he doesn’t nee to. I agree that a post game would make him more dominant than he already is, but it wouldn’t harness his gifts as much as him taking the ball from the top of the key. Even if he did develop that post game, those moves should be a “break in the case of an emergency” situation.”
February 28th, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Wade (at 6’4″) actually has a better post game. That’s only because LeBron (now in his 8th year in the NBA) hasn’t ever considered developing one.
you know why jimi hendrix never needed guitar lessons? because he was already better than everyone else.
This does not explain why LeBron refuses to develop a post game despite the fact that he has a huge size advantage on every other SF in the game.
Unless your comparison is insinuating that LeBron was tripping on acid during Game 5 against the Celtics, I have no idea where you are going with this.
LeBron is “teh King” he doesn’t need to work on shit..
February 28th, 2011 at 11:54 AM
he refuses to develop one because he clearly does not need it. what good would him developing a post game be while he can get 40 without breaking a sweat?
here’s where im going…some players defy convention. kobe thrives in conventional tactics and techniques with great success, but lebron is a completely different type of basketball player who sees and plays the game in a different way (albeit, without nearly the success kobe has had).
it’s not bad, just different.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
Howard has played a lot more games than Crawford. He’ll get more money because of sample size. Joe Dumars must’ve signed that deal though. 2 years @ 2.25M per.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
I’m talking jumpshots playa. I know Lebron can score when he bulldozes around the hoop or gets to the line. I think I’ve seen the guy make one jumpshot to win the game down the stretch – and even that seemed like a fluke (against Orlando in game 2).
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
How about not letting a horseshit definition of clutch get in the way either? The criteria is bullshit, and anyone claiming to be even a casual fan of basketball should know better than to quote it.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
When is the Knicks tickertape parade scheduled? tomorrow?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
2010-11 clutch stats…lebron’s on there. wade? not even on the list.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
He’ll develop a post game when he gets older. How was Jordan’s post game at 27?
February 28th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
you’re blatantly ignoring facts that PROVE lebron is a better jump shot.
again, you have nothing but conjecture to back this up. absolutely nothing other than a huge grudge against lebron that completely blinds you to the point where you take completely objective evidence that disproves what you’re saying, and stick with it.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
I respectfully disagree. If LeBron ever wants to average a triple double like the Big O, he is going to have to start playing closer to the basket. If teams chose to single him in the post he would dominate (if he had even ONE post move, let alone an array of moves down low). If he is doubled, he has the size and vision to dish to the other side of the paint or kick out to open shooters.
If he truly wants to be “the greatest”, he needs to maximize his potential.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
That’s a terrible way to think, and I’m not surprised if Lebron actually thinks like that.
/ why make myself even more unstoppable if I don’t have too
// have mercy for other players
February 28th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
exactly.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:58 AM
They’re currently working with the Devils to try and avoid having their parades on the same day. Trying to make sure their routes don’t run into each other, too.
Two teams, planning parades mid-season since 1998.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:58 AM
You’re retarded. That’s not a bad deal. I’m fine with it.
February 28th, 2011 at 11:59 AM
you realize if he did this, he’d just be a power forward, right?
yea…put lebron on the post. why bother keeping him out on the perimeter where there isn’t a single player in the NBA who can stay in front of him effectively. nevermind the havoc that’s caused for eight years…GET HIM ON THE POST ASAP!!!
February 28th, 2011 at 12:00 PM
You mean the Big O that was a point guard and didn’t have a post game either?
No one can guard LeBron now. He’s their best ball handler in a half court set. And he is really good at doing that. he doesn’t need to implement it into his style. He should just have it when some coach figures out how to routinely stop him, which hasn’t happened yet.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:00 PM
2010-11 clutch stats…lebron’s on there. wade? not even on the list.
They are both on the “Complete Fucking Fag” list though
February 28th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
season winds down, Ballin’ jumps off.
this is a great week in the NBA, tons of good games.
playoffs are gonna be ridiculous. and unlike the last two years, i will NOT be taking a vacation in may!!
February 28th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
The deal is fine. SC just becomes detached from reality when he discusses the Wings.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
He got a roughly $1.75M raise for doing what exactly? Getting older and reaching UFA status?
February 28th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
With Joe Dumars and Rip Hamilton
February 28th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
How many rings did Jordan have at 27?
February 28th, 2011 at 12:04 PM
I never said Lebron is not clutch. Wade has a higher FG% this season than does Lebron (who’s at 48%), despite Wade being a terrible 3pt shooter.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:04 PM
you realize if he did this, he’d just be a power forward, right?
yea…put lebron on the post. why bother keeping him out on the perimeter where there isn’t a single player in the NBA who can stay in front of him effectively. nevermind the havoc that’s caused for eight years…GET HIM ON THE POST ASAP!!!
REGULAR SEASON RINGS!!!!
February 28th, 2011 at 12:04 PM
Yes, I think he should be playing more like a Power Forward. Especially on a team with no post presence.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:05 PM
This just completely ignores playoff basketball and the style that gets played during it. When the game slows down, just driving to the lane is just not possible every play and just not as effective. This has been proven time and time again (see Jordan vs Pistons)
February 28th, 2011 at 12:06 PM
How was the rest of his team at 27? Jordan and LeBron were both dominant players without a post game.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:07 PM
Obviously it shouldn’t be his primary position to play in the post, but you don’t think refining his post game would help him?? That makes him a threat from anywhere on the floor (except mid range).
February 28th, 2011 at 12:08 PM
that’s besides the point and i’d agree.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:09 PM
Are we going to pretend that those Cavs teams with LeBron didn’t get to two conf finals and an NBA finals? And that’s not the only THING he does.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:10 PM
Chauncey Billups
February 28th, 2011 at 12:10 PM
i think a midrange game would help him more than in the post.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:11 PM
They reason they lost in the playoffs is because teams were able to keep LeBron out of the lane and they had no counter.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:12 PM
again…dwyane wade got his ring because he drove the lane every single play and got bailed out by the refs.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:13 PM
WHich is fine.. but this:
Is a little disingenuous. Also, there were a bunch of other guys on those Cavs teams. If we want to point out the Cavs failures, this argument sounds a lot like “Well LeBron couldn’t do everything, so the team failed.” I can’t ride with that.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:15 PM
driving to the lane by itself isn’t effective, just as just hoisting up jump shots, when you’re a streak shooter at best isn’t effective. That’s why you need a mid range game to keep the defense off balance. LeBron can keep his status as regular season champ by not developing a mid range game, but I remember the previous 2 post seasons when he went up against Orlando and Boston, and each of those teams were more willing to take a charge from him than they would have been in a January game.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:16 PM
The Cavs had some very nice complementary players on those teams. But thanks to Mo’s annual disappearing act in the playoffs, they had no other player who could get his own shot. Therefore, the entire offense was dependent on LeBron scoring or LeBron creating. If you cut off his driving lanes you get LeBron jacking up threes.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:16 PM
No one wants to see Phoenix in the playoffs! No one denies this!
February 28th, 2011 at 12:19 PM
Oh and by the way, speaking of LeBron and mid range jumpshots: Does anybody remember that Orlando game that wasn’t too long ago? I do.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:22 PM
now that lebron’s in a market where david stern can tell mid-market teams to trade their best players to in return for pennies on the dollar, maybe he’ll get a championship worthy roster like kobe got gifted to him.

February 28th, 2011 at 12:27 PM
I hate this argument. Lebron lead the Cavs to 2 60+ seasons…you don’t get that far with a bad supporting cast. Cavs were the favourites to win the ring in 2009 and in 2010.
Don’t mention this year’s Cavs since half of the players from the Lebron era are injured or gone.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:27 PM
I don’t think anyone is saying that LeBron is not a great player. What I am saying is, for whatever reason, he is not motivated to become the best possible version of himself.
February 28th, 2011 at 12:31 PM
Great find! I guess the secret for Miami is to find a way for LeBron to be mad at the opposing team’s GM every night, and that will unleash his mid range game.

or they can just do a 1-hour television special and leave on their own accord….you also seem to be forgetting the cav’s picking up Jammison and Shaq for their championship run…Fuck teh OSU Buckeyes and fuck the J-E-T-S and Fireman Ed
