Jay Mariotti: Sounding defiant and angry, as if he were somehow wronged, I listened to Mariotti on Jason Whitlock’s podcast. Well, I had to stop listening after Mariotti was insistent that LeGarrette Blount should have gone to jail for punching that Boise State kid on the field after the Oregon game. Mariotti seems to struggle with logic and reason, and he remains the same knee-jerk simpleton who polluted TV and newspapers for the last decade. If you thought he’d be humbled by the arrest and losing his jobs at ESPN and Fanhouse, think again. [Real Talk]

His AOL/HuffPo conspiracy theory was all kinds of terrible awesome, but when Big Sexy asked him point-blank, about 12m in, if he did nothing that night, Mariotti rambled for a full 2:40 speaking in circles. He peppered it with “if we had gone to trial…” a couple of times, and my favorite, “how I was describe that night is not me”.
I do have high hopes for Whitlock’s long format interviews.

Yes, make them web pages and not word docs. If someone doesn’t have Word, such as me (I use nothing but Google Docs) they’re screwed, or have to download and then upload to Google Docs, or worse, are exposed to potential viruses. And get a damn Gmail address just for you. Amateur hour with what you have now.
