I think I mentioned this before but Anthony Bourdain made fun of her giant noggin on one of his shows. He was getting a cuban sandwich from some deli and he said “Holy shit that thing is bigger than Giada DeLaurentis’ head!” It was hilarious.

Why do you know so many professional chefs?

For some reason several of my good friends growing up ended up doing it for a living. Parts of the job are great, lots of partying, lots of chicks, lots of free drinks/meals at other restaurants.

Most aspects suck ass and get a lot worse the older you get. Really shitty hours, pretty poor pay, lots of moving/changing jobs. Youre at work when everyone else is off.

I get the bonus side effects knowing them, tables at restaurants I normally couldnt land and free meals at their places.

There was a guy on Top Chef a few seasons ago who had a complete midwestern accent but would suddenly bust out with this 100% mexican accent any time he said the word “taco.” I wanted to punch that guy too.

If you’re trying to become a chef, it takes as long as it does to become an attending doctor at a hospital.

There’s other fields, though. My bosses husband teaches classes at a junior college, wrote two books, and gets brought to seminars to do demos and what not and they are loaded. But from what I gather, he’s not any kind of amazing chef…just knows how to make good food and teaches others how to do it.
