2011 NFL Mock Draft, Post-Super Bowl Version
The 2011 NFL Draft is only 10 weeks away! And the NFL Combine is only two weeks away! Football will not die. I posted a Mock Draft in January – playoff teams were excluded – and there’s been a few changes, but not really at the top. The Senior Bowl led to some changes in the Top 15, and I suspect the Combine will dramatically shift things. I’ll throw together another mock after the combine.
1 Carolina Panthers (2–14) – Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn. No change.
2 Denver Broncos (4–12) – Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU. No change.
3 Buffalo Bills (4–12) – They need a QB, but there isn’t one of value here. Sticking with Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson, who will help bolster a team that had a paltry 27 sacks.
4 Cincinnati Bengals (4–12) – Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama. Some mocks are projecting him as a DE, but I think he’ll fit nicely at DT with young ends Carlos Dunlap and Michael Johnson on the ends.
5 Arizona Cardinals (5–11) - Tough to guess their move with the potential lockout looming. If they can get a QB via free agency, there’s no need for one in the draft. I’m thinking lockout. And Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri.
6 Cleveland Browns (5–11) - AJ Green, WR, Georgia. The only way this doesn’t happen is if Cincinnati decides the best way to keep Carson Palmer is by bringing in a young, awesome WR (and getting rid of Ocho Cinco and Terrell Owens).
7 San Francisco 49ers (6–10) - Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M. Unlike Arizona, I think they’ll get a QB in free agency. And then take Miller – who soared up draft charts at the Senior Bowl – to bolster the defense, and win the NFC West.
8 Tennessee Titans (6–10) - Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas. Flip-flopped him with Gabbert. What changed in a month? I guess I bought into the Gabbert hype. Other mocks have Mallett dropping out of the first round completely. I’m not buying it.
9 Dallas Cowboys (6–10) – Jerry Jones like flashy items, just like Al Davis. The question is which flashy DE Jones will grab. Kerrigan? Quinn? I’m going with Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State, who will put on a show at the Combine. [Ed. Heyward still not confirmed for the Combine due to Tommy John surgery.]
10 Washington Redskins (6–10) – Cam Newton, QB, Auburn. The only way I’ll move off this guess is if they keep McNabb, which obviously isn’t happening.
11 Houston Texans (6–10) – Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska. What a gift for the worst secondary in the league.
12 Minnesota Vikings (6–10) - Jake Locker, QB, Washington. Sticking with Locker despite other mocks claiming the Vikings are going with a defensive lineman. I don’t feel confident they’ll land Kolb or McNabb in the offseason, and I don’t think Webb is the answer.
13 Detroit Lions (6–10) - Sticking with last month’s pick, Nate Solder, OL, Colorado.
14 St. Louis Rams (7–9) – Julio Jones, WR, Alabama. The real question is what happens if he’s off the board. Do they reach? Trade down?
15 Miami Dolphins (7–9) – Will their meddling owner get involved? Is Ricky Williams definitely gone? Is Henne their QB of the future, or at least the near future? When in doubt, lean offensive line. Anthony Costanzo, OL, Boston College.
16 Jacksonville Jaguars (8–8) – With a few talented WRs opting to stay in school, we’ll go to the secondary (28th against the pass) to help against a division that boasts Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub. Aaron Williams, CB, Texas. Lots of people like Brandon Harris, the CB From Miami, but I prefer Williams.
17 New England (from Oakland) – The primary needs are WR (none of value here), defensive line (plenty of value here), offensive line (it’s getting old) and running back (Woodhead and Law Firm are nice No. 2′s). I’ll go with Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama, and then project the Patriots going DL later in the round.
18 San Diego Chargers (9–7) – Could have used a WR here, but there isn’t one of value. So the Chargers get help for Phil Rivers in the form of Derek Sherrod, OL, Mississippi State.
19 New York Giants (10–6) – Could be a RB, could be a MLB, but right now I’ll guess OL. Tyron Smith, OL, USC.
20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10–6) – I was really hoping he’d fall to the Jets, but they had to go win a few playoff games and slide all the way to 30, where there’s no chance they get him: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue. When you factor in Stylez G and McCoy, the Bucs could build a formidable front line.
21 Kansas City Chiefs (10–6) - Their playoff loss to the Ravens exposed the lack of offense if D Bowe can be contained and Charles is bottled up. They get offensive and grab Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland.
22 Indianapolis Colts (10–6) – The offense will be healthy and formidable in 2011. The defense? It’ll get help in the form of Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia.
23 Philadelphia Eagles (10–6) -Similar to the Colts in that the offense will be healthy and productive next year, but the defense needs work. Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA is the pick, because Andy Reid will have nightmares for the next six months of James Starks gashing his defense.
24 New Orleans Saints (11–5) – Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina. It seems unlikely he’ll fall this far just because he missed a year. If teams in the Top 20 decide none of the QBs are ready, then I think Quinn rockets up the board.
25 Seattle Seahawks (7–9) - Does Pete Carroll still think Charlie Whitehurst is the QB of the future? I sure hope not. But he traded for him, so I think he’ll give the kid another shot. My guess is they bolster the secondary with Rahim Moore, S, UCLA, who takes the play of Lawyer Milloy.
26 Baltimore Ravens (12–4) – Brandon Harris, CB, Miami. He’ll fit right in with two other members of the U on the defense.
27 Atlanta Falcons (13–3) – Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh. If he manages to fall this far, Matt Ryan may be the happiest QB in the league. Baldwin + Roddy White = deadly.
28 New England Patriots (14–2) – Cameron Jordan, DE, California. Remember how meek that pass rush was against Mark Sanchez in the playoffs? Jordan helps immediately.
29 Chicago Bears (11–5) – The worst offensive line of any playoff team needs to help. By all accounts, Gabe Carimi, OL, Wisconsin is very good.
30 New York Jets (11–5) – Absolutely, positively, must be a pass rusher. I doubt Aldon Smith, OLB/DE, Missouri will be around, but he’s getting high marks from everyone who intently follows the draft. Backup: JJ Watt, Wisconsin?
31 Pittsburgh Steelers (12–4) - Offensive line to protect Big Ben? Or the secondary, which was torched by Aaron Rodgers in the Super Bowl? How about another Pouncey? Mike Pouncey, OL, Florida.
32 Green Bay Packers (10–6) – What do you get a team that has everything? Best on board, right? They found success with an Iowa kid in the first round last year, so how about another one? Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa.

I think Pouncey is listed as the top interior lineman on most boards (including Mayock’s). I doubt he makes it this far down. If you’re looking interior OL, Wisniewski is likely a more valid choice. Depending on how Starks/Colon rehab is going, they may even look at OT.
/please let Legursky start ahead of Kemoeatu
February 8th, 2011 at 1:15 PM
Sticking with Locker despite other mocks claiming the Vikings are going with a defensive lineman. I don’t feel confident they’ll land Kolb or McNabb in the offseason, and I don’t think Webb is the answer.
Why take Locker in the 1st round when they could probably get him at this spot in the second?
I think they go OL or Secondary here. Vikings seem to take best player available and Locker is too much of a reach at the 11th pick.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:15 PM
Not enough sizzle. Niners fans need something more exciting.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:15 PM
Ugh. NO. I think the Vikings brass is at least slightly aware of how annoyed and frustrated the fans have been over the “project” QBs we’ve had that never pan out. They go best available at 12, and take Andy Dalton or Christian Ponder later on while signing Hasselbeck or Bulger or someone of that nature to help him out.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:17 PM
Bills or Bengals draft a QB. No way does the first QB come off the board at the 5th pick
February 8th, 2011 at 1:17 PM
16 Jacksonville Jaguars (8–8)
Best available player.
I suspect the Combine will dramatically shift things
If true, I’ll never understand why.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:18 PM
Secondary please, anything to make sure William Gay does not step foot on the field while the game is going on. Is that too much to ask?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:18 PM
Lions move up to take Von Miller or settle on Akeem Ayers.

I think it depends on if you see an early run on QB’s at the top of the draft. The more QB’s taken early, the more likely they burn a 1st rounder for one.
I don’t really see that happening though. There seems to be a lot of really good non-QB prospects this draft that would be too hard to pass up.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:19 PM
I see Cowboys going secondary or Oline first.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:19 PM
I read somewhere the idea of moving Pouncey to LG and letting Legs start at center. The idea of Pouncey pulling around the right edge did have me a bit excited. Plus I share your opinion on Kemo. Not sure if I’d move Pouncey away from C, but it did get me thinking.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:20 PM
Can’t see them passing on Amukamara if he’s still on the board.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:20 PM
Oh and by the way, this is a more accurate statement and should go in the post…
February 8th, 2011 at 1:20 PM
ah…good thing the steelers got the pouncey who can actually snap and block to cover up for the one that can’t do either.
/just because they’re identical twins doesn’t mean they play identically well…mike pouncey is even more of a fraud than maurkice
February 8th, 2011 at 1:21 PM
i disagree that this is a primary need, by adding a good back like Ingram will improve the WR and offense in general, by taking some focus away from the passing game.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:21 PM
I wouldn’t mind that. Aaron Williams has been vouching for him the last month or so.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:22 PM
Kemo does seem to have dropped in talent, and quite fast. Couple that with the infatuation of diving into the piles a half hour after the whistle and you get all kinds of bad. I really wouldn’t be opposed to getting both Legursky and Pouncey in there, I thought Legursky did a good job in limited time.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:22 PM
I’d bet O-line. They’re so thin up there it’s not even funny. Even worse, I’d not be surprised if Hutchenson is given the “renegotiate or get released” speech.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:22 PM
Nice work, TBL. Good post.
Will be a huge bust.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:23 PM
This seems to be what everyone’s saying. Meh. I dont really think the running game is the most pressing issue.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:25 PM
better than VY.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:25 PM
I agree. See: Packers, Green Bay
February 8th, 2011 at 1:26 PM
But Jerry Jones thinks he’s set in the secondary!

February 8th, 2011 at 1:26 PM
Jets will be soooooo happy to get Watt. Cowboys are taking an olineman. Period.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:26 PM
JH Scramble – Wouldn’t Clayborn have been better coming out last year?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
Pack may also take a flyer on Sam Acho outta Texas. Projected mid 2nd rounder, but I’d like to see him opposite Clay Matthews.
/they need offensive line too.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
Ruh-Roh
February 8th, 2011 at 1:28 PM
JHS
Are you in agreement that the Lions go defense in the first 2 rounds? LB/CB or CB/LB.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:30 PM
I’d be surprised if the Pats didn’t trade at least one of their 1st round picks.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:30 PM
Yes. His stock took a big hit. His work ethic or lack thereof was exposed. He should have came out right after the Orange Bowl, his stok was at an all time high.
I think they take an OT if they can get one, but if not it will be CB/LB.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:30 PM
If he falls this fall, that would be fantastic.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:30 PM
/just because they’re identical twins doesn’t mean they play identically well…mike pouncey is even more of a fraud than maurkice
Spencer, you seem to have gone to the TBL school of misusing the word fraud. not a pro bowler and not good are a lot different
February 8th, 2011 at 1:30 PM
Why are the Bears at #29 and Jets at #30 if they had the same record this years; and the Bears beat them head-to-head?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:31 PM
lol.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:31 PM
I thought Ealey was off the team entirely, Ty, so that story could be worse. I see Ingram to the Dolphins everyewhere I look. Might be something to that. I also like the mockingthedraft one that had Brandon Harris in Tampa. That might be a good look for both of them.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:32 PM
you must have missed my class on “seeing things in black and white.”
check the bulletin board at the learning annex for the next installment.

Spencer, you seem to have gone to the TBL school of misusing the word fraud. not a pro bowler and not good are a lot different
Best rookie lineman I’ve ever seen.
/Aikman’d
February 8th, 2011 at 1:33 PM
Seems like everyone wants to pencil in Puncey here because its Maurkice’s brother. I doubt he lasts this long. Also, I think Steelers go FS or NT. P. Taylor out of Baylor seems right here.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:33 PM
I think it actually goes to total winning percentage (playoffs included).
February 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
Do you still do the Tuesday night course in “FUCKING GREATEST COURSE ON HYPERBOLE EVAH!!11!ELEVENTY!!”?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
why does everyone keep saying this?
yes, because interior linemen who can’t snap and can’t block are first round locks. has anyone here watched a florida game from this past year? christ almighty.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
roeth, how do you think legursky did in SB? he was not the reason for the loss, right?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
Bears draft higher because their week 1 victory should have been a loss.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
/pours one out for dirt
What happened to Dirt now?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:36 PM
As always Good pass rush > Good Secondary
February 8th, 2011 at 1:36 PM
He’s rated 3rd or 4th at Tackle most everywhere right now so it’s a possibility SC. Depends how many teams go for tackles. Probably more than 4 but OL are harder for non-scouts to figure so the mocks that are out there generally are just wild guesses once you get past the big names.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:36 PM
no, that’s been moved to wednesdays. tuesday’s is dirt’s “how to clean up brittany spaniel puke from carpet.”
February 8th, 2011 at 1:37 PM
What happened to Dirt now?
Seppuku.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:37 PM
Mike Iupati.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
The labs are AWESOME.
/see what I did there.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
11 Houston Texans (6–10) – Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska. What a gift for the worst secondary in the league.
Houston’s corners got toasted all year because of little help from safeties (see the Jets long pass over the Texans Dime coverage to set up their winning TD). Another corner would be nice, but safety and linebackers who can drop into coverage are where the real need is.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
Highly rated due to him being able to step into just about every O-Line position? Alls I can think of.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
iupati’s a fan of huggin’.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:40 PM
?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:40 PM
Seppuku.
i thought it was harry carey
February 8th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
if you wager someone on that, you’ll win.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
Don’t underestimate the bump up he will receive just because of the success his brother had. NFL scouts aren’t rocket scientist. You know somebody in the 15-25 range will think he’s worth the pick just because his brother was good at the NFL level.
/Bengals scouting department is nodding in agreement.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
Am I reading this right? A Bears fan is upset that they’re picking AHEAD of the Jets? Did I miss something here?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
If he gets to 9 he’s gone to Dallas. No way he drops to 11
February 8th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
my worry about Watt is that he’s a johnny-come-lately who played his ass off this year. did he do anything in the Rose Bowl?
how good were the B10 Defensive lines?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
if the redskins draft cam newton i’m going to hang myself with barbed wire.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
/Bengals scouting department is nodding in agreement.
Needs “” around department.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
They actually had the same record but the Jets had stronger strength of schedule.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
BTW, I can’t be the only one dying for Fairley to go to the Bengals. That is a match made in bust heaven
February 8th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
The Bungles have a scouting department now? I thought Mike Brown unilaterally made all horrible decisions.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
Bills or Bengals draft a QB. No way does the first QB come off the board at the 5th pick
Nope. They’ll either take Ponder in 2nd or trade down to get him later in first before taking someone at 3. I’d love Fairley or Dareus, but I heard they love Peterson also if he gets past the Broncos
February 8th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
i wonder if john cooper is still a consultant for the bengals…
February 8th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
Steeler fans may disagree. Fuck.
Theres no possible way Blaine F’in Gabbert is a top 5 pick. Fraud is too kind of a description.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
how good were the B10 Defensive lines?
They’re littering the first three rounds this year, so I guess they were pretty good
February 8th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
I would have gone with scouting there, because that’s the debatable part. You can have a department, just doesn’t mean that department does anything of worth… LOL
February 8th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
The Bungles have a scouting department now? I thought Mike Brown unilaterally made all horrible decisions.
Maybe he’s developed multiple personalities and refers to them collectively as his ‘scouting department’.
/Jerry Jones’s scouting department is staffed by Jack, Jim, and Johnny.
//he’s a drunk.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM
above average…there’s high end talent there but not a whole lot of depth. last year was a better DL year for the b10.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM
I would have gone with scouting there, because that’s the debatable part. You can have a department, just doesn’t mean that department does anything of worth… LOL
Good point.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM
as of 2008, there were 9 people in their dept. one of those people was a secretary, the other was john cooper.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM
I thought he did really well. There was only 1 slight snap issue, and I thought that was just Ben not catching the ball clean. Legursky has played RG/LG/C and some fullback this year, and I never thought there was any dropoff other than the 2 bad snaps against the Jets, which I can forgive since a) it was near zero degrees and he had hardly played center at all during games/practice and b) we won.
Put it this way – how many times did you hear Raji’s name on Sunday? The only time Legursky was beat at all was on the Mendenhall fumble, and that was only cause someone gave the play away (GB admitted they had the play call).
February 8th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
I’m biased, as I hate Wisconsin, but even I’ll admit Watt is a beast. I think Kerrigan is better, but both are legit first rounders, IMO.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
Actually this Steeler fan does agree. A good pass rush can cover up an average secondary by giving the QB less time to pick apart said average secondary. No pass rush means more time your DB’s need to cover.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
I don’t expect the Bills to go for a QB in the 1st round at all. If one of those big names comes in and rules at the combine then maybe but as it stands they aren’t really that big an upgrade over Fitzpatrick to justify it. Go for other problem areas first
February 8th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
Will the impending lockout have some college athletes rethinking their decision to declare for the draft?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
I wouldn’t use one single game as you litmus test. Especially against a team with a gimmicky offense that used Watt as the guy they were reading on handoffs.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
That sounds like a scouting department when going out to the bars too
February 8th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
I watched several and enjoyed the shit out of the Sakerlina and Missy St. games.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:48 PM
/has nightmares about jj watt
//COBRAS!!!
February 8th, 2011 at 1:48 PM
Every…and I do mean EVERY Redskin beat writer and blogger insists that there is a 0% chance that Cam Newton will be a Redskin, and claim that the coaching staff and front office has made this clear.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling they are going Locker’s direction.
Also, TBL, when you do these mock drafts, sometimes I am unclear…are you trying to accurately project what you think will happen, or what you think should happen? You are a tad inconsistent in your commentary, leading one to conclude that it could be either. For future ref, maybe you could clear that up.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:48 PM
Miz – Heimerdinger out in Tennessee. He and Munchak not see eye to eye?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
if the redskins draft cam newton i’m going to hang myself with barbed wire.
ill, i don;t know what diff it would make. that team goes nowhere while snyder owns it. past performance does sometimes indicate future results
and, btw, what did you mean about ‘the looks of my resume’ this morning. not looking for a fight, hoping to get advice on if it needs work. or were you just referring to me being w/o a ft job?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
Let’s put it like this: If the Jets haven’t selected a lineman from the Big 10, Tannenbaum is going to have a memorial service to attend.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
are you new(!!) around here(?)?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
Re: Torrey Smith. Will be a good KR for somebody, but will be absolutely useless as a WR. I feel sorry for any team that throws away a 1st round pick on him.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
don’t know if they had problems…Heimerdinger was recently diagnosed with cancer though. maybe he’s leaving because of that…or did he just get straight up canned?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
cam heyward > watt > kerrigan > clayborn
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
Miz – Heimerdinger out in Tennessee. He and Munchak not see eye to eye?
I read that Heimerdinger was also considered for the position, but Munchak was the first choice. Perhaps Heimer didn’t care for that?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
how many times did you hear Raji’s name on Sunday?
about as many as i heard polamalu’s
February 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
Ask Andrew Luck
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
I’d love for ATL to get a beast like Baldwin. They need DE/CB help, but at 27, I’m not sure you can expect to get that in this draft.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
don’t know if they had problems…Heimerdinger was recently diagnosed with cancer though. maybe he’s leaving because of that…or did he just get straight up canned?
Forgot about the cancer diagnosis. PFT is saying he was canned.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
LOL. Yet I’ve asked this question a dozen times, and never really received an answer.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
Wooooooooooooooo
They knew it was a possibility a month ago so I doubt it
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
Will the impending lockout have some college athletes rethinking their decision to declare for the draft?
Did TBL hack SG’s commenter account?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
jayv – i’m going to sound crazy for a second, but hear me out. why not just take best available at #10 and resign sexy rexy for a year? there are too many holes in the skins’ roster to make them a contender in this draft. taking a QB this year just seems like the business as usual for danny and co.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
So grab him if you want either teams. Just know he isn’t a top 29 pick by any stretch of the imagination.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:54 PM
i read a mock that had him going to my brownies at 6. i liked that mock draft.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:54 PM
I’m scared that ATL will take him, but I need to trust Dimitroff. They have got to get better at WR and there are some good ones in this draft.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:54 PM
Forgot about the cancer diagnosis. PFT is saying he was canned.
couldn;t waited til christmas?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:55 PM
Nothing reminds you about your youth being long gone more than this.

For the jersey wearing public, if you haven’t used JPQ’s store link yet, DO IT. 5 jerseys under $200 over the last 2 months. That’s total spending, not per.
Quality. Products.

Couldn’t get Wayne Knight in the photo?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:57 PM
Ill…I totally agree. As bad a pick as I think Newton would be, Locker would be worse. If Amukamara is available, and they pass him up…well, that would be awful. I’d also be perfectly fine with Julio Jones…and if they surprise us all and don’t go QB, that’d be my guess for who they take.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:57 PM
Well I hit em high hit em high hit em high, then you hit em low, hit em low, hit em low.

Re: Torrey Smith. Will be a good KR for somebody, but will be absolutely useless as a WR. I feel sorry for any team that throws away a 1st round pick on him.
don’t completely agree here. he has potential in the NFL, but agreed that it’s not as a 1st rounder. in the right system, he’s comparable to percy harvin.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:57 PM
interesting. don’t know why they would do that.
February 8th, 2011 at 1:58 PM
I would have thought one of your links would have been to whatever site it is, or at least mentioned it.
What’s the site?
February 8th, 2011 at 1:58 PM
Torrey Smith doesn’t strike me as a pick that Scott Pioli would make at #21.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:00 PM
He’s a Bears fan, not the brightest obviously…
February 8th, 2011 at 2:00 PM
Tell them to start seeling women’s jerseys then.

depends if rodgers doesn’t get resigned. if heyward or von miller are available, i’d love to see them strengthen that front seven.

Beat me to it.
/Wait, I’m a Lion’s fan. What does that say about me?

Bengals will be taking AJ Green.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
4 Cincinnati Bengals (4–12) – Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama. Some mocks are projecting him as a DE, but I think he’ll fit nicely at DT with young ends Carlos Dunlap and Michael Johnson on the ends.
Wouldn’t Cincy just take Green to block Cleveland from getting the best playmaker in the draft? A defensive player will be there in the 2nd.

i love this kind of correcting….oh, THAT’s what you meant!
February 8th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
Ditto. I need to get on that at some point.

dammit Jose

Roeth – Here. My fault. Thought I had it on one of them. They’re totally stitched, game day apparel. No screen prints. Got three hockey sweaters and now two football jerseys.
Going to invest in a new Cubs now that Theriot is gone. Probably a Castro.
Now who is knocking Carimi? I would kill for the Bears to get him.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:04 PM
Wash runs a 3-4, right? Von Miller would be money as Clay Matthews-type of pass rusher.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:04 PM
Very salient point…it would completely contradict all prior draft strategy that Pioli has previously displayed.

That you’re totally awesome.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:04 PM
So depressing. I was hoping a team that would be on TV would get him. Bummer.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:05 PM
Roeth – Tried responding to your comment a few times and the server is just eating them. Not even going to moderation.
Google BBeststore football jersey. You’ll get to it. The landing page is broken for some reason, but it’s legit. I’ve made 3 separate orders. Getting a new Cubs one now that Theriot is gone too.
Now who is trashing Carimi? I want him on the Bears so bad.

I really wish the CBA would be in place before the drafts. It would make trades so much easier to pull off, especially if there is a rookie wage cap.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:06 PM
Here you go…
February 8th, 2011 at 2:09 PM
If the CBA isn’t in place before the draft, there probably won’t be any trades. Only trades that could occur would be for picks. Players could not be involved.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:09 PM

agreed, gods. however, they may be one more dismal defensive season away from going back to the 4-3.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:10 PM
And I had hoped he would’ve made better decisions before now (going to UGA, selling his jersey, etc), but talent is talent.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:13 PM
Isn’t that Orakpo’s role?

February 8th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
Ill-little late but better than never…
Cam Newton = Disaster for skins…
Would love Von Miller to fall..not sure he will though..hope for a bad combine…
agree on the 3-4 going back to a 4-3 if there is limited success. Haslett job could be up in the air with another bad year..even though its the personel that is the problem.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:21 PM
Isn’t that Orakpo’s role?
Orakbeast would be much better used at DE with his hand on the ground. he’s fast, yes, but he’s more powerful and explosive with a hand on the ground. i HATE watching him standup.
February 8th, 2011 at 2:28 PM
Agree with Orakpo with the hand on the ground….
He doesn’t seem to have the explosion towards the backfield in the standup…
and on most plays seemed to get blown out and unable to get back involved in the play…
February 8th, 2011 at 2:33 PM
Going to UGA was a terrible mistake. I mean, who wants to be a top-10 pick in the draft anyway?
February 8th, 2011 at 3:50 PM
This would be a horrible decision.
