ESPN Has Three Finalists to Replace Rob Neyer
All, ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings February 5th. 2011, 12:30pm
ESPN is moving swiftly to replace baseball writer Rob Neyer, and I’m hearing there are already three finalists: Joe Sheehan (who writes for SI), Craig Calcaterra (of Hardball Talk), and Jonah Keri. I’m hearing conflicting rumors of ESPN’s Eric Karabell being in the mix. Supposedly, David Kull is the editor at ESPN who is making the hire.

Can’t say good or bad about the other candidates, but I would be happy if it was Jonah Keri. I sense actual enthusiasm for baseball in his writing rather than rote VORPy smarminess.

I hope it’s Calcaterra. He’s one of the best baseball writers out there, IMO.

I’m with the professor. Calcaterra was great at THT, I don’t really read Hardball Talk

I know of Sheehan and Calcaterra, don’t remember ever hearing/reading Keri.

If Jonah gets the spot, sweetspot goes back in favorites.
