Ballin’: Magic Mock LeBron … Then He Scores 51
Miami 104, Orlando 100: The Heat led by as many as 22 before a late 3-point flurry by the Magic cut the lead to three. Orlando had a chance to tie the game with less than :10 left, but Ryan Anderson took a long, off-balance 3-pointer that missed. LeBron was the story. He made his first 11 shots en route to a 51-point, 11-rebound, 8-assist night (see a cocky 3-point dagger after the jump).
Dwight Howard, who mocked LeBron before the game (LeBron claims to have not seen it – I’m not buying that), scored 17 points and took 16 rebounds, but missed 10 FTs. Arenas, Redick and Anderson combined to shoot 7-of-27. Disappointing loss for Orlando, which – right now – doesn’t look capable of beating Miami or Boston in the playoffs.
Golden State 100, Milwaukee 94: No Bogut, no CDR, and Young Money (1-for-6 in just 19 minutes) is still struggling. Of course the Bucks aren’t going to win. When Luc Richard Mbah a Moute – remember him from UCLA? – is carrying your team (15 points, 19 rebounds) …. yeah. No shot. Monta Ellis, the snubbed All-Star, led six Warriors in double-figures with 24.
San Antonio 89, LA Lakers 88: Antonio McDyess slithered inside of Lamar Odom to tip in Tim Duncan’s miss at the buzzer and give the Spurs a terrific road win over the slumping Lakers. LA’s bench played well (28 points), Kobe passed the ball (10 assists), but the Lakers couldn’t make shots from deep (2-of-14) and the Spurs lead the West by 7.5 games with about 32 games left. If you’re wondering what this could mean for the playoffs … San Antonio is 25-2 at home this year.

LeBron having a his
. And it was frightening. I only saw highlights, but fucking him nailing jumpers in people’s faces is just plain scary.

Ron Artest and Derek Fisher are terrible. Still not sure why Phil doesn’t opt to go big in crunch-time with a front-line of Bynum-Gasol-Odom.

dwight tries too hard to be funny. Maybe it’s just the way he is, but I hope he doesn’t act the way he does because his marketing team tells him to show his “personality”.

What is it about overrated Alabama players hitting shots at the buzzer?

Thats some pretty weak shit Dwight. What exactly have you accomplished that gives you the right to be mocking someone else? Maybe spend a little time in the off season working on your FT’s instead of making shitty movies.

Was Mike Miller on the bench getting a haircut? Or just building a fort w/ all those towels?

Don’t say I didn’t warn you about signing Salmons to a long deal after a contract year. Also, Jennings never was very good. Apart from the 55-point game and scoring on Bibby in the playoffs, I never understood the hype. He’s a backup in 2 years.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
Beat me to it Stringer. Thinking the same thing. Haven’t seen you in awhile.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
Jennings need to work on his jump shot. To me, for a point guard having an outside game is more crucial than having the ability to drive the ball into the hole. Great defensive teams can shut down the lane when push comes to shove lot easier than defend someone who can consistently hit a 15-20 footer.

where’s our obligatory blake griffin highlight? i don’t care that he didn’t play last night.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
Yeah I always come around to do some reading, haven’t been able to comment as much as I’d like. I needed some TBL comments in my life today though.

I’m still amazed the Magic signed Arenas. I ripped Vince Carter as much as anyone and he has his flaws, but at least VC can still ball. Arenas was never that good and now has absolutely no athletic ability.
Magic have no one who can guard LeBron. Peitrus at least made him work.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
i dunno about that…arenas was money for like a season and a half or something.

I’ll tell ya what, I miss watching LeBron, err, rooting for LeBron when he’s taking over games like that. When he’s on, his game is magical.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
As a Suns fan I vehemently deny this assertion.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
This, dude could score.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
Kevin Love and Steve Nash laugh at this.

This comment is in moderation for some reason.
Gilbert and Vince are both donzo. It’s a joke they’re getting paid so much for the little amount of value they bring to their teams.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
Thank god VC has a 3 million dollar buyout after the season. Gilbert is going to be sucking up cap space on the Magic for the next 4 seasons. Of course Rashard Lewis would have been doing the same.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
This really needs to be a post. I really can’t believe Kevin Love is not on the Western All Star team. I might start fighting random people on the street because of this.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
Blake Griffin took his spot. I would have rather see Klove make the all star game. They are both deserving but Griffin is already going to dominate Saturday night.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
Stern hasn’t announced who’s replacing Yao yet has he? There’s still time for this wrong to be righted…Duncan’s lifetime achievement award inclusion is doubly annoying since it’s not even like he’s fun to watch in an All-Star Game
February 4th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
My God Jersey, your Twitter pic is unbelievably awesome.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
You know..because they’ve beaten both already this season and were playing without their starting power forward and backup center.
It was a regular season game. The Magic sucked. We still made it close depite being down a shitload.
I’m not concerned.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
Thanks, Cleet. And thank you again, Mrejr for the awesome belt bet. And thank you Jets for helping me win said belt bet.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
This is true. Quentin Richardson made him work a bit in the second half…he only had 22 then.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:40 AM

So much for the long rivalry with Derrick Rose.

February 4th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Yeah. I think dumping Rashard was more about getting playing time for Bass and Anderson. Bass has been a very good starter offensively and defensively since Rashard left.

They will have someone to market when Howard goes to Lakers.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Agreed. Gortat has been balling lately now that he gets minutes. I just wish VC would pass more the ball stops on him and it kills the suns offensively.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:45 AM
Lakers need another shooting guard desperately. Big men can’t get free cuz no one besides Kobe can hit a 15-23 footer. Watching the Spurs I still don’t know how they are 41-8, still see Lakers coming out of west, but need another shooter, Fisher is basically useless, Blake is so-so, Brown is good off bench, need someone who can knock down a jumper.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
Let me get that for you.

YYSA: Tell management to stop being pussies and free Steve.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
Suns don’t do that and neither do Lakers, Odom too important, difficult cover for too many teams.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
Wow. I just discovered that the Trade machine is blocked for me at work. Weird
February 4th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
Agreed. He would be ridiculous with Steve though.
February 4th, 2011 at 12:10 PM
Speaking of Nash, what are the Suns waiting for, ship him while he’s having a very good year and before his inevitable breakdown. I don’t know where, the more I think about it the harder to find somewhere, but makes no sense to hold on.
