Rob Neyer’s Leaving ESPN [UPDATE]
All, ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings January 31st. 2011, 3:48pm
Rob Neyer announced on his blog today that he’s leaving ESPN. He’d been with the company since 1996, and had put together a pretty decent blog network over there (“Sweet Spot.”) Where’s he going? The word on the street is that he’s going to SB Nation [confirmed] … to presumably help those guys put together a baseball blog network.as a National Baseball Editor.

doesn’t SB Nation already have a baseball blog network?
January 31st, 2011 at 3:55 PM
One of the few writers at ESPN I would read.

The fuck’s an SB Nation?

Rob Neyer in a rare depiction of “Casual Patrick Bateman”

I believe there was an old post/comments where TBL’s voiced his feelings about Neyer. That was fun.

I always thought Neyer’s ESPN picture made him look like he belonged in a Gillette commercial or something.

I don’t remember that, Sportsdork, what were his feelings? SB Nation seems like he’s slumming it although I am a fan of mockingthedraft

The bottle opener on his keychain is eggshell white.

this is before he notices the watermark.

Eh, I tried to find it but it’s on a post where the comments have all been blown away, so I’m leaving it alone. If TBL cares I’m sure he’ll comment.

might have me confused with someone else. Don’t read him regularly enough to have feelings about the guy. he’s pretty well-liked, apparently.

sbnation is fantastic. spencer hall and…uh…um…LSUFreek!

very disappointing. Half of the reason I read ESPN.
January 31st, 2011 at 4:10 PM
Rob Neyer, you might say, is the anti-Jon Heyman.
January 31st, 2011 at 4:10 PM
Not that I read him often, but he was one of the better ESPNers.

Neyer’s quality. Keith and Rob made for some of the most intelligent writing on ESPN.
January 31st, 2011 at 4:12 PM
This right here.
January 31st, 2011 at 4:13 PM
Ah. I think Neyer’s name was involved in one of those annoyingly contentious old Blyleven discussions.

and me! Ummm, sometimes. It’s true!

Neyer is like a cross between Law and Poznanski. He and Law share a lot of the same viewpoints but he knows how to write without coming across as a smug asshole.
January 31st, 2011 at 4:56 PM
so does Law, he just has a lot less patience for dumbasses than Neyer does. Or the dumbasses don’t bother Neyer. One of the two.
January 31st, 2011 at 5:13 PM
This right here. Law comes off as a douchecanoe. He makes valid points in between vinegar and water spritzers, but it’s tough to read.
Neyer is A+ quality. That’s a bad loss for the WWL.

So “This right here” is the new “This”? This all sucks.
