Gus Frerotte Is a Head Football Coach … at the High School Level
Gus Frerotte: The former QB best known for suffering an injury while head-butting a wall, has landed a head coaching job. After two years as QB Coach at John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Frerotte was recently named head coach. Since playoff numbers are the stat-du-jour this week … Frerotte was 0-2 as a starter in the playoffs (both losses on the road), going 34-for-74 with one TD and three INTs. You guys know that with a win Sunday, Mark Sanchez will have the most road wins of any QB in NFL history? [Post Dispatch]

Galloping Gus. No one could freeze to the oncomming rush better than ol’ Gus.
Congrats on coaching at a high school…Just don’t rape your players and you should be golden.

The stat of the day of the week?

If Sanchez gets credit for the wins, does he also get the blame for not having home field advantage?
January 20th, 2011 at 12:56 PM
not even

He was actually pretty decent on the Lions.

Anytime you can be on top of a list tied with Joe Flacco and Jake Delhomme, you should stop and celebrate. Maybe if guys like Brady, Manning, White Mamba, etc… weren’t on division winners, they could try and “win” some more road playoff games.
January 20th, 2011 at 12:57 PM
That depends. Do 1st round byes count as playoff victories?
January 20th, 2011 at 12:58 PM
Didn’t this guy famously run into a wall once?

Maybe if guys like Brady, Manning, White Mamba, etc… weren’t on division winners, they could try and “win” some more road playoff games.Winning division and getting bye weeks are totally overrated. It’s all about the MOMENTUM.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:00 PM
He’s like the Bizzaro Peyton. Gets credit for playoff wins rather than blame for playoff losses.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:01 PM
C’mon SC, read the post.

Sanchez has been perceived as the second-best quarterback in each of the Jets’ postseason gamesIf its a fact, does that make it perceived, or real?

Oh man, TBL. Please…

The article rightly compares his path to Roethlisbergers, but two rings later Ben still has many people who think its all the defense. Dirty Sanch wins a few games and hes a god.

I used to enjoy watching preseason football waiting for the second half to see which team Gus Frerotte was on that year…has to be either him, Chris Chandler or Vinny Testaverde as to which QB played for the most teams in their career
January 20th, 2011 at 1:05 PM
I’m more worried about stopping Brad Smith and winning the special teams battle, but thats just me.

Just proves how pointless most stats are

Way late to the party on this, but it pissed me off… I would just like to step in and tell Rich Roeper to kindly go fuck himself and never try and speak for Chicago again. I’m pretty sure no one in Chicago hates Green Bay, and I sure as hell respect the Packers and their fanbase. Also, Bears don’t have any more bandwagon fans than any other basic franchise, and their great fans certainly outweigh any bandwagon jumpers. fuck off with that shit, ATL_badger.

That article also references Mark Whipple a lot. Who sucked and got run out of Pitt. Sucked and got run out of DaU.
And now the Browns are going to hire him. Perfect!

I saw that Richard Pryor movie she was in the other week. Still looks the same from 20 years ago. God love her.

Renaissance Man is an underrated movie.

I have always wondered by Stacey Dash is not a bigger star.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:16 PM
I first saw Stacey Dash in Mo Money like 20 years ago. She does look the same now. So hot. I actually saw her in person once. She’s hot in real life and just not photoshopped hot.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:19 PM
She says she is going to have her own reality show on vh1, but that was a year ago. Maybe playboy channel would be a better idea.

mantis, smith was invisible v the pats. is he a better matchup for stillers?
January 20th, 2011 at 1:24 PM
Returned opening Kickoff for a TD. Steelers KO coverage has been suspect at times this year.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:26 PM
If i knew how to strike-through, I’d switch “this” to “every”
/Fixed for accuracy, unfortunately
January 20th, 2011 at 1:26 PM
last week? or first matchup? either way, i see mantis’s rosary-rubbing concern
January 20th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
He didn’t play last week, but I expect him to sunday. They should just squib (sp) kick it every time. They did it after that return TD and it worked everytime.
January 20th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
the bears will want the stillers then
January 20th, 2011 at 1:28 PM
He was out with an injured groin versus the Pats. He’s the wildcat in the qb scheme and the kick returner.

I’d hope in that match-up the Steelers just kicked everything straight out of bounds

you must give me some credit. i just didn’t know what he had done vs steelers

In a league where everyone cries that every rule is made to protect the QB or the receivers the QB throws to. In a league that has been called a QB driven league, now all of a sudden, just because the guy you’ve been rooting against this entire time because he plays for the favorite team of the guy who runs this site, has made it to the penultimate game, we’ve come up with this revelation that the QB, in this QB driven and influenced league, is receiving too much credit for wins. Some of you guys are more petty than a bunch of pre teen girls at a slumber party. Sanchez’ job isn’t to throw the ball around the field the entire game, but it is to manage the the game and at the big moments come up for his team, sort of like in a Bob Griese type of mold. He has done it often enough that his team is in the Conference championship game 2 years in a row. The throw he made to Santonio Holmes in the corner is an example. Not everyone of these QB’s in the league would have the arm strength, timely accuracy or guts to make that throw at that time.
