Crazy Strike: Mark It Zero
Here’s a crazy bowling strike from the USBC bowling trials. I’ll let the YouTube description do the talking. “Josh Scanlan gets an AMAZING result with his third shot in the 10th frame at the USBC Team USA bowling trials in Henderson, Nevada.” Sorry, but as a former league bowler, that shot doesn’t count. I doubt you even get a pin for that.
[Thanks to the USBC - which I used to be a member of! - who know enough to e-mail blogs like The Big Lead and Deadspin when something out of the ordinary happens.]

<– Lifetime high game of 212. I did have 8 strikes in a row spread over two games that night. Wish they were all in the same game. Woe is me.

14 300 games, first 200 average at age 12, 236 average last year of college bowling. Best memory was a 300 in a college tourney in St. Louis against Wichita State. Pat Healy, Justin Hromek and Chris Barnes were still with WSU, and I beat them all. Being StL, it was walled up, and everyone shot stupid scores. They all shot 279. Lowest score on the pair was from Dave Soutar’s son, he shot 228. Send it right and watch it fly. A few years later reactive resin ruined the game and made it too easy. The only time in history a game getting easier put it out of business. My old coach owned 3 houses, and he would put up a reverse block for the scratch leagues. Guys would come from all over to bowl in it, because in that league 200 meant something. Carried a 192 average in that league, then we would travel and bowl in cash tourneys on weekends. Suckers with 210 averages had to give me pins, and I would destroy them. You can set up an oil pattern so dipshits throwing it over the thumb hole can score.

golfercraig: No offense, but I can’t help but call bullshit. 14 300 games? Really? That’s just nuts. You’ve got to be a ringer in leagues. Sandbag to get your average down. Then bam! Go off when you need to.
