Update: Jim Harbaugh Back On The Market, Dolphins Will Stick With Tony Sparano
Update 2: Never mind. The Dolphins have decided to stick with Tony Sparano according to ESPN.
According to 790 The Ticket in Miami, Jim Harbaugh is taking his talents to South Beach. Dan LeBatard first broke the story this afternoon when one of his go-to guys who is “never wrong” said that he could report Harbaugh to Miami.
The Dolphins will reportedly offer Harbaugh a contract worth between $7-8 million per year that Harbaugh will not turn down. Assuming this actually happens, can he still be rumored for every other coaching job? Also, Tony Sparano doesn’t know anything about this, so don’t say anything.
Update: Adam Schefter points out that the Dolphins haven’t gone through the motions of interviewing a minority candidate. If only Harbaugh was part Cherokee.

Nice…this whole thing and them keeping him around is a little bushleague
January 6th, 2011 at 5:03 PM
His teams may have floundered, but I hope he gets another HC job and wrecks shit up.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:04 PM
That seems excessive.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:04 PM
Wonder if they asked him if his mother was a prostitute?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:04 PM
No coach is worth that much money. None.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:04 PM
Tony Sparano to Michigan.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:05 PM
The Dolphins will reportedly offer Harbaugh a contract worth between $7-8 million per year that Harbaugh will not turn down.
2-3 years under that contract and then he takes the Michigan job, right?
/Saban Part 2?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:05 PM
SHHHHHHHHHHHHH
January 6th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
Gary Patterson thinks this is bullshit.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:07 PM
Petrino part 3.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:07 PM
Tony Sparano to Michigan.
Why wouldn’t the Broncos try to scoop him up off the bin and ask him to turn them around?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:09 PM
Why wouldn’t the Broncos try to scoop him up off the bin and ask him to turn them around?
Because Dave Wannstedt is available. Duh.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:09 PM
get fucked
January 6th, 2011 at 5:10 PM
No?
Bill Belichick?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:12 PM
Luck stays. Harbaugh goes. that Stanford job just became very interesting.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:14 PM
Get fucked
January 6th, 2011 at 5:15 PM
Dennis Erickson to Stanford!
/hopes
January 6th, 2011 at 5:15 PM
The Wildcat is bullshit.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:17 PM
I can’t even guess who would be a candidate. But yeah, somebody will walk into a very attractive position in their first year. Maybe they promote their DC?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:17 PM
Assuming this actually happens, can he still be rumored for every other coaching job?
Absolutely. Also, Dennis Erickson to Stanford is a winning rumor
January 6th, 2011 at 5:17 PM
With Childress and Sparano out, that leaves Jeff Fisher as the only mustachioed coach in the NFL. If he gets fired, it looks like the AMI has a serious case. Pretty soon Dave Wanstedt will be going on token interviews anytime there is a coaching vacancy, per NFL mandate.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:17 PM
CRM,
Did you see these highlights? These shots Jimmer made are ridiculous.

January 6th, 2011 at 5:18 PM
If Harbaugh gets this ammount, Belicheck has to be in the $10 mil range, right?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:18 PM
Get fucked
January 6th, 2011 at 5:19 PM
But what about the Mountaineer formation? Or the Wild Horses? Or the wildhog?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:19 PM
Wonder if Dallas hires Sparano back as an assistant.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:20 PM
You foret because he’s incredibly fat, but Andy Reid still sports one
January 6th, 2011 at 5:20 PM
Nice…this whole thing and them keeping him around is a little bushleague
boo hoo. He’s done a shitty job & is gonna get $3 million to get whacked. Nobody other than Michigan is dumb enough to dump their existing coach before having the next guy locked down
Anybody who’s ever been canned in a job for bad performance (esp in sales) knows your employer has most likely interviewed & preliminarily hired your replacement before you got whacked
January 6th, 2011 at 5:20 PM
They did the Wildcat way too much.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:21 PM
Sources I’m talking to are hearing Randy Shannon and Mark Whipple to coach Stanford next year
January 6th, 2011 at 5:21 PM
That’s because they had a pile of hot soupy poop at QB.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:22 PM
How could I forget the Walrus? He could be the lone wolf, pending Bud Adams decision.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:22 PM
I would like this. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes OC for Kansas City.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:22 PM
Are you talking to the Great Barstoolio?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:23 PM
they barely ran it at all this year and look where it got them. it probably more shows that it won’t work as well in the NFL, but if it can make houston nutt look competent as an “offensive mind” it’s hard to call it bullshit. this also completely ignores the fact that anyone could run the wildcat with Mc Fadden, Jones and Hillis in the backfield.
so on second thought, maybe it is bullshit.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Wonder if Dallas hires Sparano back as an assistant.
I’d say there, or somewhere else on the “Parcells tree” like the Chiefs or Giants, if they needed someone
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Belichick is paid with the souls of the players defeat.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Me either. I’m guessing they promote Fangio, The DC like you said. It’s getting pretty late in recruiting to just grab someone else and I would think they want to keep the staff intact. Problem is that Fangio is an NFL guy so I could see Harbaugh bringing him to Miami.
The guy that would be perfect is Sarkisian (California ties, good pro style offensive coach), but obviously that won’t happen. I would have no idea where Stanford would go if Fangio leaves too.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Sources say Bill Belicheck to Stanford. He wants Andrew Luck that bad.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Miami. Harbaugh. Ireland. Job numero uno… go trade for Kyle Orton.
/looks at what division they are in
Uhm, never mind. Get Matt Leinart, he needs a legitimate shot. I’m sure he would flourish in a place with no distractions like South FLA.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:26 PM
Or sign Vince Young!!! Long Live the Wildcat!
January 6th, 2011 at 5:26 PM
I heard that too.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:26 PM
Ty Willingham!
January 6th, 2011 at 5:26 PM
Dolphins = Redskins
January 6th, 2011 at 5:26 PM
Dr Tom, I saw the second half. He’s a pretty good shooter.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:27 PM
He could live in the guest house and be LeBron’s Kato.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:27 PM
Sanchez to the Finns.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:28 PM
Mind boggling figures for a coach with such a thin resume.
I’m sure this contract will be brought up in negotiations when the Owners bitch to the NFLPA that they are not making any money.
/Those assholes better not lock the players out next year.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:28 PM
Condy to coach the tree football team next year
January 6th, 2011 at 5:30 PM
I feel bad for Orton. Always plays well enough wherever he goes, gets dumped/benched/traded.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:30 PM
Whats up with pictures of preggos CRM?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:31 PM
At the very least, Belichick is worth double what Harbaugh’s getting.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:32 PM
I think Arizona goes after him, but part of me wants to see Larry Fitzgerald hit the open market. Fitzgerald is gone if Arizona can’t throw out a QB who can’t capitalize on having one of the best receivers in the game.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:33 PM
I think AZ is going to try for Kolb and settle for McNabb.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:35 PM
So Michigan gets fucked again. They now are behind Stanford in a coaching search.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:35 PM
this aint happening until harbaugh puts on a dolphins hat at a presser. too many “confirmed” stories lately that have ended being a pile of steaming shit.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:35 PM
Me too, but the lack o’ run game and competent D was going to end his young life in Denver. He’ll do well somewhere that doesn’t need rebuilt.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:35 PM
i can’t believe a michigan alum fucked over his school like that. wow.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:37 PM
The wildhog is legit.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:39 PM
This could be the last of Harbaugh for a bit, so I added a nostalgic picture.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:40 PM
is S-mart around?
if so…brady hoke on zone blocking.

January 6th, 2011 at 5:42 PM
not really.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:45 PM
anybody got any info on brady hoke’s thoughts on zone blocking?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:46 PM
HAHA. +1
January 6th, 2011 at 5:47 PM
I miss any bannings?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:47 PM
if so…brady hoke on zone blocking.
i think oregon and florida’s spread is tad more advance than pepperdine or western mich, brady
January 6th, 2011 at 5:53 PM
menarky…according to smart football.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:04 PM
I’m not even going to bother typing my own thought on how wrong Brady Hoke is. I’ll just quote Brian Cook from his take down of that same quote.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:12 PM
So you are arguing with other people’s thoughts? interesting…
January 6th, 2011 at 6:17 PM
No, Cook just said it better than I could have. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the quote earlier. I had just read the article on MGoBlog before I headed over here.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:25 PM

I was talking about both of you, it struck me as funny. Spencer posted a quote from someone and you posted a quote from someone else taking exception to the original quote Spencer posted..
January 6th, 2011 at 6:33 PM
As a Notre Dame fan I resent that remark sir.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:47 PM
ty…i already stated my own thoughts earlier today.
id counter brian’s argument with a knock on big 12 defenses, who never see smashmouth teams themselves (remember last year…texas had the 2nd best rushing defense in the country and then got bludgeoned to death against alabama). auburn sees smashmouth teams all the time in the SEC and their defense isn’t really great to begin with.
and ACC and big east teams…well, meh.
there aren’t many smashmouth teams around, but OSU’s defense has taken steps to be more competitive against spread teams and they’ve focused OL recruiting on more athletic linemen (the only smashmouth OSU OL is justin boren). then they get beat the fuck down against wisconsin, who’s offense would’ve played right into OSU’s old defense’s hands.
also note how spread offensive linemen haven’t adjusted well in the NFL.
i think hoke’s opinion has some merit here, but agree with you that he’s kinda retarded.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:12 PM
My understanding of FEI is that it adjusts for the team being played.
TCU just shut Wisconsin down.
Jake Long seems to be doing pretty well in the NFL, and Michigan was running zone blocking when he was there.
January 7th, 2011 at 1:12 AM
Harbaugh to SF?
January 7th, 2011 at 8:44 AM
He’s not back on the market, he’s staying at Stanford.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
False. Two Wisconsin RBs averaged over 6 ypc in that game.
Tolzien sucks.
January 7th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
It’s going to be Stanford or SF…
