Tucker Carlson: “Vick Should Have Been Executed”
All, Media Gossip/Musings, Mike Vick, Video December 29th. 2010, 10:55am
Tucker Carlson, the one-time bow-tied stooge who left CNN and MSNBC and landed at Fox News, is angry President Obama thanked the Eagles for giving QB Mike Vick a second chance. You see, Carlson believes Vick “should have been executed.” Because, obviously, the 18 months in federal prison weren’t enough. Sigh. [via Mediaite]

I’m gonna go use the bathroom.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:57 AM
totally unacceptable and im not a fan of Vick. this guy should be suspended or fired for this act.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:58 AM
He’ll get a raise
December 29th, 2010 at 10:59 AM
I think he should be executed.
/why the fuck am I at work today?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:00 AM
Tucker, here’s my advice. You need to start pretending you didn’t know what “execution” meant.
Sincerely, Lebron
December 29th, 2010 at 11:00 AM
I Love the way he casually said it like it wasn’t a big deal

December 29th, 2010 at 11:00 AM
he was saying it to make obama look worse for saying he’s glad vick is making the best of his second chance. typical fox news speak, trump up an already bad thing then find a way to tie obama to it.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:01 AM
I’m sure he really meant it and didn’t say it merely to ring the bell…
December 29th, 2010 at 11:01 AM
Tucker will learn once he takes a look at this internet thing.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:01 AM
I am for executing child molesters though.
/murderers and peds please stay out of Texas
December 29th, 2010 at 11:02 AM
By the way, I hate Carlson…
December 29th, 2010 at 11:02 AM
I just can’t take Carlson seriously without the bow-tie.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:02 AM
He is just mad that he lost a lot of money at those dog fights in Virginia and blames Vick.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:02 AM
Even for a douchebag, I still expected him to have been trying to be funny. It’s pretty clear he wasn’t.
Best part is how he gives the “I’m a Christian” background info, then wishes someone was dead.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:04 AM
What sportsdork said.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:04 AM
There is probably a good bit of truth to this statement. Carlson is a douche. He reminds me of everything bad about frat guys. Yes, there are cool frats guys, but then there are Carlson’s who ruin it for the rest of them.
/no clue if he is a frat guy or not, but he looks like a caricature of one
December 29th, 2010 at 11:05 AM
This.
Also, I wish we could see a bit more. I’d like to see if the other people on set had the “holy shit, did he really just say that?” face. If not, then it was likely all planned.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:05 AM
he’s straight from the old testament, you can tell from his bowtie.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:05 AM
Eagerly awaits Sarah Palin’s tweet.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:05 AM
I have a wooden bow tie from the Tucker Carlson Collection.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:06 AM
It’s hilarious, actually. I like how he says he should be executed almost as an aside. Like it’s nothing crazy to think that Vick should have been killed. I love dogs more than anyone I’ve ever met, but executing someone for doing what Vick did is insane. China, Saudi Arabia and North Korea think that’s going too far.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:06 AM
I’ll add, I’m sure immediately after this they moved to a segment where they bashed Muslims for twenty minutes.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:06 AM

Think she’ll refudiate the statement?
/her stupidity makes me laugh
December 29th, 2010 at 11:07 AM
I wonder what Carlson feels about the drunk driver that killed Nick Adenhart and two of the three other people in the van with Adenhart.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:08 AM
Tucker, here’s my advice. You need to start pretending you didn’t know what “execution” meant.
Sincerely, Lebron
lol
The igominy of knowing his nemesis Keith Olbermann will probably spend the next month skewering Tucker on Countdown is worse than any suspension or firing could be

off topic, home on vacation and watching Rachel Ray.
I love it when stupid people use “literally” in a conversation to sound smarter and then use it wrong.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:11 AM
That guy that killed Adenhart is just 24. He will be what, almost 80 when he gets out? Life wasted.

I find it fascinating that this is the case with so many people who claim to be “Christians.” It makes it impossible for me to take their beliefs seriously.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:11 AM
George Carlin, RIP. He had him pegged from the get-go.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:12 AM
The only people who think Vick shouldn’t be allowed to play football are non sports fans. If you’ve watched football in the past 20 years on a somewhat regular basis you’d be aware the league gave a “second chance” to a guy who KILLED A PERSON while drunk driving then got arrested AGAIN for drunk driving!
December 29th, 2010 at 11:13 AM
I wish the Lions could get Vick…
December 29th, 2010 at 11:13 AM
Earlier this year, Tucker was on Kornheiser’s radio show and was actually one of the best radio guests I’ve heard. As usual, completely different from his on-screen douchesona.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:14 AM
Was Rachel Ray ever hot? I remember seeing her on a magazine cover and thinking she was hot but it could have been an instance where it required a second look
December 29th, 2010 at 11:14 AM
eh, that just means tucker will still be in the news cycle.
it’s impossible to try and convert people who actually take people like limbaugh, carlson, hannity or beck seriously, however, if you constantly talk about these people saying crazy things it only legitimizes them even more to those who may be on the fence.
you don’t need a big ego on a high horse telling an audience these people are bad, you need a media that will actually challenge statements made by spin doctors on news shows with facts. you need a media who will shout “this statement is a lie, through and through. Do not let yourself be mislead”. Instead, we have a media that lets spin doctors talk, then on a later show, as a footnote during the opening or closing, state what was said was not factually correct.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:14 AM
we know. you’ve told us 254,765,923,837 times. we get it
Still not enough…
December 29th, 2010 at 11:15 AM
So true. I’ve yet to hear about Leonard Little’s impending execution.
Sadly it’s looking like a bigger “if” each year, but if Stafford can stay healthy, The Lions can win 8+ games next year if they get hit on a CB/OL in the draft.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:16 AM
Not to be off topic, but this is exactly how I feel about the sports media who let Terrel Suggs keep repeating that the NFL didnt make a new rule when Carson Palmer got hurt. I’ve heard him say it at least 3 times.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:16 AM
The only people who think Vick shouldn’t be allowed to play football are non sports fans. This. I’m the biggest dog lover in the world, but 2 years in prison and not being allowed to own a dog is punishment enough. I hate how people take a good story about a guy turning his life around (at least, as far as we can tell) and then make it political. He served his time. Let’s move on.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:17 AM
they did a makeover on rachel rays show, the girl is still a hog with a new hairdo.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:18 AM
Ok ok lets not get too crazy here
December 29th, 2010 at 11:18 AM
You and Wide World Sports (I think it was him) are kindred spirits.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:18 AM
They need two more Linebackers that can actually tackle. I’m not that worried about the OL. Secondary help is a must.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:19 AM
all media is bad. most hosts have a resume listing “hard copy” “entertainment tonight” “sportscenter” “insider” etc and then they go on TV as authoritative figures in politics and the news.
they know shit.
it’s like matt millen being in the broadcast booth. WTF kind of secrets does he have on people in the NFL?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:19 AM
I agree. If you take what Hannity, Beck or Olbermann say as fact, there is no helping you. I wish people would boycott cable news, but I’m afraid that train left a long time ago.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:19 AM
If FoxNews didn’t do anything about the infinitely more egregious November comments by Bill O’Reilly directed towards The Washington Post’s Dana Millbank and Fred Hiatt, they won’t give a fuck about this.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:20 AM
What, Nathan Vasher isn’t that good? Get outta here.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:20 AM
If somebody from Peta had said this, you wouldn’t have wasted your time with this blog post.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:20 AM
I just hope a team offers him some ridiculous contract. I am thinking Raiders. Either way I think the Eagles only option is to franchise tag him and then they have a huge decision to make next year with him and kolb.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:20 AM
Irish pretty much nailed this in comment 2.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:21 AM
As long as cable news also means comedy central
December 29th, 2010 at 11:21 AM
The igominy of knowing his nemesis Keith Olbermann will probably spend the next month skewering Tucker on Countdown is worse than any suspension or firing could be
eh, that just means tucker will still be in the news cycle.
yeah, but it’s different with these two. More personal, for some reason. Olbermann hating on O’Reilly or Beck is ratings-based. Carlson & Olby despise each other
December 29th, 2010 at 11:21 AM
What did they give up to get Houston from Atlanta? I remember laughing when I heard the Lions picked him up. He was terrible for the Falcons.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:21 AM
what did he say?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:21 AM
One expects crazy stuff like this from PETA. Oh wait…..
December 29th, 2010 at 11:22 AM
They didn’t make that rule until boy wonder got injured in KC
December 29th, 2010 at 11:23 AM
If somebody from Peta had said this, you wouldn’t have wasted your time with this blog post.
No, I believe TBL would’ve posted something, we’d have all chuckled and said, “well, there you go” and moved on pretty quick.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:23 AM
New post please?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:24 AM
You’re probably right, but PETA is such a joke that I think it’s become white noise for most sane people. PETA is an excellent example of a good idea gone terrible awry.
A comedy show making fun of the news should not be taken as news. They simply riff on the coverage that cable news provides.
What did he say?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:24 AM
I love it when stupid people use “literally” in a conversation to sound smarter and then use it wrong.
Yeah. That’s up there with people who use “borrow” instead of “lend.”
December 29th, 2010 at 11:24 AM
he’s straight from the old testament,
he likes his coffee black, and his parole denied?
/dismemberment plan’d
December 29th, 2010 at 11:24 AM
Also, I wish we could see a bit more. I’d like to see if the other people on set had the “holy shit, did he really just say that?” face. If not, then it was likely all planned.
They actually had the full clip up on HuffPost…and none of the three really reacted at all to the execution remark. Wonder if he thinks the caribou-killing Palin should be strung up, too.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:25 AM
i regularly run into people who use “leverage” incorrectly and it really burns me up.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:25 AM
That’s why he posted it. Even PETA wouldn’t toe this ledge.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:25 AM
When’s the post where we get to talk about how the players/coaches thought Charles Woodson was better than Tramon Williams this year?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:26 AM
I don’t know. I’m sure someone attached to PETA has said something like this before. They are a crazy lot.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:26 AM
If you think about it, the internet is to blame for all of this. News programs had to come up with a way to get viewers (since people used the internet to get the latest info) so they created these talking heads shows. All the stupid people who couldn’t figure out the internet started watching the shows and formed their opinions around the talking heads. Then when they finally got on the internet, there were groups of stupid, close minded people who could meet and talk and feel good about their stupidity together. It’s a vicious cycle.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:26 AM
Surprised that Tucker didn’t say lynch instead of executed.
/it’s on!!
December 29th, 2010 at 11:27 AM
you guys have weird grammar pet peeves
December 29th, 2010 at 11:27 AM
See, and this is why we need people correcting Suggs.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:27 AM
Excerpts:
“Does sharia law say we can behead Dana Milbank?” He then added, “That was a joke.”
The next night, O’Reilly read a complaint from one of his viewers, Heidi Haverlock of Cleveland, who said: “I thought the joke about whether sharia law would allow the beheading of the Washington Post guy was completely inappropriate.” O’Reilly replied to her on air: “Well, let me break this to you gently, Heidi. If Dana Milbank did in Iran what he does in Washington, he’d be hummus.”
On Thursday night, he made an eerie reference to The Post’s editorial page editor. “Would you put Fred Hiatt’s picture up on the screen here?” he asked. “This is the editor, Milbank’s editor, Fred Hiatt. And, Fred won’t do anything about Milbank lying in his column. I just want everybody in America to know what The Washington Post has come to. All right, you can take Fred’s picture off. Fred, have a nice weekend, buddy.”
Shortly after this, O’Reilly proposed to his fellow Fox News host, Megyn Kelly, a way to handle their disagreement with me: “I think you and I should go and beat him up.”

December 29th, 2010 at 11:28 AM
This was FOX News, right?
/no explanation needed.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:28 AM
I agree, but it’s slightly beside the point of my comment. If a Peta member said this, it isn’t blog worthy. The only reason this is news is not because he thinks (maybe) that Vick should be executed but rather because he is Tucker Carlson. In which case, TBL played right into the shtick he presumably despises.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:29 AM
when someone tells me i can leverage them to help get a deal done i really wish i could stop the conversation and walk them through using a dictionary and how to correctly use that word. it’s so irritating b/c it spreads like wildfire on a conference call.
most buzz words in business are migraine inducing.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:29 AM
Was it Kerry Collins or Matt Schaub?
/fuck that redneck trash
December 29th, 2010 at 11:29 AM
New post please?
word, BALLIN’
December 29th, 2010 at 11:30 AM
Yeah they would. He said executed implying maybe he thinks there should be capital punishment for excessive animal abuse. He didn’t say Vick should lynched or murdered in a dark alley.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:30 AM
Actually, the root of the 24 hour news cycle can be traced back to 9/11. People wanted up to the minute news around the clock after the towers fell. Cables news shows were ratings gold. As time passed, and interest in the story faded, the cable news shows were left with a void. That void has since been filled with talking head shouting matches and extremist propaganda.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:31 AM
Rex: What did Milbank write to piss off Bill O?
The fact that it was on Fox News and not some crazy person saying it to E! News has a lot to do with why it’s a post.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:31 AM
This. I need my Blake Griffin fix.
/Man crush.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:34 AM
Tucker shouldn’t be fired. Saying something grossly stupid, inflammatory, and hypocritical on a cable news opinion show is sort of what you’re paid for.
Even if Fox would consider firing him for this, they shouldn’t. He’s just another asshole in a long line of them.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:35 AM
But it’s ok for Cleveland fans to say that they want LeBron killed for not resigning with the Cavaliers. Interesting double standard.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:35 AM
Anyone have a host of a conference call tell you they have a “hard stop” at a certain time?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:36 AM
Totally agree. The list of people who should be fired for lying or saying dumb shit is very long, and Carlson is not even in the top 20.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:36 AM
Really? Who said this?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:37 AM
Funny since critics of FoxNews consider their talking heads worthy of E! news but as soon as one of them pops off with something controversial, these same critics demand balance and fairness. All of the collective bitching hasn’t changed anything over the last 8 years or so, it’s not going to change anything now. And speaking of FoxNews critics, call me when they exert the same amount of energy concerning MSNBC.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:37 AM
most buzz words in business are migraine inducing
It’s a whole new paradigm shift, wilhelm
December 29th, 2010 at 11:37 AM
Did they say it on a nationally televised news show?
December 29th, 2010 at 11:38 AM
Every once in a million times, one of those “debates” on cable news is actually worthwhile.
/totally unnecessary, but I enjoyed it and it’s relatively harmless

they’re so much fun to make fun of/parody, tho. new in my life, cuz for the first 15 years of my grown-up working life, i was not in a business atmosphere. then i was, and the words really stood out
/going forward
December 29th, 2010 at 11:38 AM
Interesting strawman.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:39 AM
Well, when some dipshit celebrity says something on E!, no one takes it seriously or cares. That is not the same as the sheep who watch Fox and MSNBC. And the reason Fox gets more shit is because it’s watched by more people. If you can’t understand that, I don’t know what to tell you. Go back to grading out Cam as a top-5 pick because he’s CAMazing!!
December 29th, 2010 at 11:41 AM
Husker, the initial Millbank article was re: Fox News election night coverage.
Millbank’s follow up to the beheading comment was:
“Hilarious! Decapitation jokes just slay me, and this one had all the more hilarity because the topic of journalist beheadings brings to mind my late friend and colleague Danny Pearl, who replaced me in the Wall Street Journal’s London bureau and later was murdered in Pakistan by people who thought sharia justified it.”
December 29th, 2010 at 11:42 AM
Fox represents themselves as a news organization, and their tagline is in fact “fair and balanced”. Shouldn’t we expect that from their coverage?
MSNBC certainly has its share of extremist punditry, but Fox News has mastered the art of political propaganda. They may be reprehensible, but they are damn good at what they do.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:43 AM
If you think about it, the internet is to blame for all of this. Damn. Yes it was.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:47 AM
Looking forward to the Olbermann/ Whooping Goldberg “that’s not REALLY rape” discussion
December 29th, 2010 at 11:49 AM
Is it about a sports figure? I’m sure you can to a news site and find a thread on it. It was a very stupid comment, but stop trying to even it out i.e. Lib/Cons. When some idiot on the left says some stupid thing regarding sports (and they will) I would bet that TBL will have a post on it.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:50 AM
But.. that’s jpq’s ‘thing’
December 29th, 2010 at 11:51 AM
Dude, I agree with you. I’m just expounding on my points.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:52 AM
yeah, but what does tucker max think of this?
“vick should drink a fifth of whisky, bone like 7 chicks in odd places, crap in an odd place, then drink some more, get caught jerking it at a barnes an noble, then crap yourself again”
i hate that i ever read that dumb shit’s book. HATE IT!
December 29th, 2010 at 11:53 AM
May be late to the party, but…
“In the end however, both Vick and the playbook avoided execution.”
December 29th, 2010 at 11:55 AM
Yes, you should. But if you don’t think their coverage has been fair and balanced over the last 8 years or so, why is it still newsworthy when one of their talking heads says something that you perceive as not being fair and balanced. And in this case, that’s an easy fix by the way. All somebody had to do was say, no he shouldn’t be executed. More than likely the rest of the panel assumed his comments went so against the norm that they didn’t have to justify their disagreement.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:56 AM
Or they work for Fox and hear much dumber shit each day and figured it was a night off of the crazy bus.
December 29th, 2010 at 11:57 AM
I dont know who Im rooting for but this is fun
December 29th, 2010 at 12:01 PM
think we can get a yearly round up in movies/music/tv before friday?
December 29th, 2010 at 12:02 PM
I’m not sure advocating murder is a “fairness and balance” issue.
December 29th, 2010 at 12:05 PM

HE IS FUCKING RELAXED!!!!!
December 29th, 2010 at 12:11 PM
i am relaxed. i don’t literally get migraines from corporate slang, but i just really hate it when people use words incorrectly, happens a lot with the buzz words.

I hereby decree that this Tucker Carlson is reasonable and wise.

Go ahead now.

/let’s talk about this offline.
December 29th, 2010 at 12:35 PM
I am outraged.
December 29th, 2010 at 1:06 PM
Tucker Carlson: Likes Attention. No matter how misguided the way he acquires it is. If he were a girl he’d be a stripper
