Brett Favre is Probably Angry Cliff Lee Stole His Thunder
Brett Favre: Anyone else think Favre is setting up his conference call with his agent Bus Cook this morning to pinpoint the exact day he wants to announce his retirement? The regular season ends Jan. 2. We’ll guess he waits and makes an announcement the week of the Super Bowl, because he’s a douche like that. Without Favre last night, the Vikings could muster a meek 164 yards of offense in a 21-3 loss to the Giants. Minnesota is eliminated from playoff contention. Hey, it’s one preseason prediction we got right!

What are the chances the NFL finally brings the suspension hammer down on Favre now that the streak is over?
December 14th, 2010 at 10:36 AM
He will do it at halftime of the Super Bowl. The first 30 minutes of Sportscenter after the game will ignore the Super Bowl and watch Favre get interviewed in a silly camo #4 hat.

Wait, he’s alive!?!?! After seeing the coverage last night I assumed he was dead. Turns out he just didnt play in a football game, who knew?
December 14th, 2010 at 10:39 AM
I’m just glad the sky is still where I left it when I went to bed last night. I had my concerns.

I’m thinking more of he gets suspended this week for one game which is a game he wasn’t going to play in anyway. Since, the Vikes are out of the playoffs, my thinking may be wonky.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:46 AM
Don’t forget the emergency tax increases to build a stadium so LA does not steal the Vikes!

#11 overall right now. Marcell Dareus to replace Pat Williams
December 14th, 2010 at 10:50 AM
Rachel Nichols will still be in a lawn chair in his front yard from June-August.

Aren’t the Vikings one of the oldest teams in the NFL based almost entirely on having Pat Williams and Favre on the roster?
December 14th, 2010 at 10:51 AM
I think they will suspend him via press release, in the most quiet manner possible (XMas Eve or New Years Eve). ESPN will barely cover it.
If he would have just paid Sterger, this whole thing would be in his rear view.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:51 AM

The #1 song on the Billboard music charts when Favre’s streak started. Not kidding.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:54 AM
On the other hand, Jake Locker has already proven he can pull off purple.

December 14th, 2010 at 10:59 AM
This ought to make for great television.

/still think Glenn Hall’s is equally impressive.

That’s weird. His left hand looks of similar color.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:10 AM
he needs that money for his divorce proceedings (coming soon) and the sterger people screwed themselves over when they left an ultimatum for punishment or lawsuit/release of pictures. now they punish favre and sterger loses leverage to make demands.

My daughter was a month and a half old when his streak started, and now she has just finished her first semester in college. I know alot of you dudes have grown up in the reality TV era where everything personality driven and it’s difficult to seperate achievement from likability, but his streak is one of the greatest accomplishments in NFL history and it deserved whatever recognition it received.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:19 AM
It is, I was nine years old when it began…in five years or whenever it is that he gets his number retired at Lambeau we’ll forget this silly little Viking time ever happened
December 14th, 2010 at 11:24 AM
I agree. The guy has become a huge punch line at this point and probably needs to go away so people can separate what he did as a player from all of the “other stuff”.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:25 AM
but his streak is one of the greatest accomplishments in NFL history and it deserved whatever recognition it received
I’ll second this assertion. When you consider that every game he goes out there, there’s at least 5-7 guys on the other side of the ball who want nothing more than to smear a QB across the turf, his ability to keep playing through injuries is astounding.
This is much much more impressive than Cal Ripken’s streak.

so true. My son is 19.5 & was just saying he was born 15 months before the streak started and can’t believe he’s played all this time.
He also said Rice & Emmitt were first players inducted into HOF he actually remembers seeing play as a little kid

On the other hand, Jake Locker has already proven he can pull off purple.
I just don’t think Locker will be available given the number of teams that need QBs in the Top 10 right now (Carolina, Cincinnati, Arizona, Tennessee, Frisco if they don’t keep The Smiths).

Does Carolina give up on Claussen already? Nati is locked in with Carson through 2014. Arizona will draft a QB. Assuming Luck goes to AZ, Tennessee and San Fran are tied with Minnesota right now (5-8) and are in position to take the 2nd QB on the board. It could happen.

Not a lot of money tied up in him, if they see Luck as a franchise QB they have to pull the trigger on him.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:38 AM
I’ve been on the “Clausen sucks” bandwagon for a while now, but it would take some juevos for Carolina to admit that they fucked up after one year.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:43 AM
Does Carolina give up on Claussen already?

Yeah, when they keep going back and forth between him and Matt Moore, it makes me question their committment to him.
On top of which, Fox is out of contract and might not be back. If so, a new coach comes in and will have the #1 overall pick — and zero attachment to the last coach’s guys.
Nati is locked in with Carson through 2014. Arizona will draft a QB. Assuming Luck goes to AZ, Tennessee and San Fran are tied with Minnesota right now (5-8) and are in position to take the 2nd QB on the board. It could happen.
I’ll be very surprised if Luck slides to Arizona. Cincy could stay with Palmer, but they’ve no one behind him and he’s looked past it most of this season.
And I’m not including teams like Buffalo or the Browns who could choose to stay with their current young QBs and look at another position — DE?.
I agree that, if Minnesota is in position, they will draft a QB. They have to. In a way, throwing T-Jack out there may help them get that high pick!
December 14th, 2010 at 11:43 AM
I don’t watch reality TV and I find it repulsive.
All I’ll say is that if Favre wasn’t fellated for years upon years upon years upon years by the media, then maybe we all wouldn’t be so indifferent about his streak.
December 14th, 2010 at 11:54 AM
His streak wasn’t a media creation, and as a sports fan, the media shouldn’t influence your outlook on sports. The game is the game.
