Loyal Owner Donald Sterling Heckles Baron Davis
It’s no secret that L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a clueless, delusional jackass with no ambition of ever winning. Two seasons of narrowly nipping .500 over the franchise’s last twenty campaigns proves as much. But just like any seasoned, business savvy hooker would, he keeps coming up with new tricks. This time, he’s strangely taken to heckling one of his own in Baron Davis:
Sterling has expressed his displeasure about Davis’ play by taunting him from his courtside seat at Clippers’ home games, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. Among Sterling’s verbal barbs:
“Why are you in the game?”
“Why did you take that shot?”
“You’re out of shape!”
The reasoning behind Sterling’s unusual tactic is obvious. Davis has only played in 11 games this season and when he has played, it’s been forgettable. To make matters worse, Davis has two years and $26 million left on his contract following this season, which is enough to make anyone want to shoot bottle rockets out of their ass. But to heckle your own player?
“There’s nothing I can say,” Davis said of Sterling’s taunts. “I have no comment on that. You just get to this point where it’s a fight every day. It’s a fight. You’re fighting unnecessary battles. I’m fighting unnecessary battles.”
Good for Davis in taking the high road. Bad for Sterling in managing to make his laughable franchise an even less desirable destination than it already was.

I bet one of Sterling’s unreported heckles is “I wouldn’t rent a luxury apartment to you but I would rent one to Chris Kaman”
December 13th, 2010 at 6:12 PM
fuck it sterling is paying these guys and they’re playing like shit. if we were as bad at our jobs as the clippers players have been at theirs we’d be fired..with the exception of taguchi who cant get fired from college(HI-YO!..kidding)

Stern is a scumbag, but on this one, he has a point.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:13 PM
Sterling is allowed to get angry and question his players, considering he’s paying the dude millions. He should have done it in the locker room instead of courtside, but he was probably loaded and coked up.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:14 PM
great fan, horrible owner
December 13th, 2010 at 6:14 PM
Some sick, fake CRM just called Sterling “Stern”. That’s anti-semitic
December 13th, 2010 at 6:15 PM
It’s kind of hard to feel bad for a dude making millions who has basically given up on the season.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:15 PM
There’s a Lohan vag-like gap between doing it behind closed doors and courtside.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:15 PM
Sterling can heckle Baron if he wants. People can criticize Sterling if they want. Basically if it doesn’t involve Blake Griffin I don’t see anyone could give a flying fuck about that franchise
December 13th, 2010 at 6:17 PM
well if he didnt suck at his job in public then he wouldnt get heckled by his boss in public.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:18 PM
People easily forget our recently departed fuckstick in NYC who was banned from his team and the sport for hiring a private eye to investigate his best player, and publicly ridiculed every person on his payroll
December 13th, 2010 at 6:18 PM
I do agree with that though. Unprofessional and stupid.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:19 PM
Sterling is not acting like a businessman, he’s acting like someone from Detroit.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:19 PM
This has to do with Sterling…?
December 13th, 2010 at 6:20 PM
Oh come on. Since when can a guy not be pissed off about his team? Not ever owner can/should be like Cuban.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:22 PM
This has do to do with Sterling….?
Yes
December 13th, 2010 at 6:22 PM
That’s funny, because I totally think what Sterling did was fucking awesome in this instance.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:23 PM
I think Cuban and Sterling are nearly opposite ends of the billionaire spectrum. Sterling is much better at making money on his team and being racist
December 13th, 2010 at 6:24 PM
I just meant as a cheerleader for the team.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:24 PM
you know what’s even more unprofessional and stupid? signing a contract then not living up to it and being fat. he had a hamstring injury but davis has never been the picture of being a workout monster.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:24 PM
No, Detroit doesn’t hate black people, that would be Howell
December 13th, 2010 at 6:25 PM
also, if those three things are all he said, they aren’t that bad. The first one might be the worst of them all.
/the fat one is true
December 13th, 2010 at 6:26 PM
It would be much easier to take from an owner who has made serious strides not to be an embarrassment.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:26 PM
Not to hijack your NBA post, but is there a College Bowl pick-em thing this year? I’ve been in and out of here recently.

December 13th, 2010 at 6:27 PM
all the people in detroit who hate black people moved.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:27 PM
Everything Mrejr said. Sterling may be mean, but stealing is immoral.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:29 PM
he had a hamstring injury but davis has never been the picture of being a workout monster.
Which was pretty well known before the Clippers signed him no?
December 13th, 2010 at 6:29 PM
jersey i dont know if my name whole name can fit on the title belt engraving so I’ll settle for my first and last name only. belt
December 13th, 2010 at 6:30 PM
There are ways to motivate under performing employees. I’m pretty sure haranguing them is not all that professional.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:30 PM
You know what’s even more unprofessional and stupid? Signing Baron to that contract. Sterling only looks dumber for putting that product out there and then heckling them
To Howell
December 13th, 2010 at 6:31 PM
This never would have happened if Sterling hadn’t killed Nipsy Russell
December 13th, 2010 at 6:32 PM
very true but sterling still isnt wrong.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:33 PM
very true but sterling still isnt wrong.
Hey, he pays the bills, if he wants to heckle then by all means. It’s just not something I would do to the people that work for me.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:33 PM
pooe millionaire athlete! leave him alone!
December 13th, 2010 at 6:33 PM
Sterling can do whatever he wants, but I do feel bad for the 3 Clipper fans I know. No free agent with half a brain will go there anymore. Clips are just going to have to overpay for a bunch of B minus players that want to live in LA.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:36 PM
If hes a known racist, he is only in this to make money. I dont like owners who are only in it to make money. 1+1=fuck him
December 13th, 2010 at 6:37 PM
Pooe Millionaire Athlete sounds like a great sitcom.

December 13th, 2010 at 6:44 PM
Heat, Knicks, Lakers.
The NBA is broken.
December 13th, 2010 at 6:46 PM
without looking at the salary cap: Heat, Magic, Knicks, Bulls, Rockets(?), Spurs, Suns (?), Jazz (?), Lakers. Thats off the top of my head. I couldnt add the Hornets since the NBA owns them
December 13th, 2010 at 6:48 PM
I wouldnt have added the Knicks had Melo not said anything
December 13th, 2010 at 6:48 PM
Celtics
December 13th, 2010 at 6:52 PM
Well, the Clippers should be in that group for sure. LA, awesome arena, pretty knowledgeable fans dying for a winner, second biggest media market to you can get endorsements. Its obviously in the top tier as far as location and opportunity, but with this clown running the show you’ll never get a top tier guy. That’s what I was going for.
Of course you need cap room and whatever else, but as far as the city selling itself the Clippers should be in the top 5.

The Nets going to be the New Yorkers? I was hoping for the Reign or Fire.
