Urban Meyer Retiring
Urban Meyer Retired – This is not a drill. Multiple sources nowhere near The Big Lead are saying that Florida Gators’ coach Urban Meyer is stepping down after the Outback Bowl. “Meyer, 46, informed Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley over the weekend that he was contemplating resigning and the two finalized the plan Tuesday. Meyer told the Gators of his decision during a team meeting earlier this afternoon. UF has scheduled a press conference for 6 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium where Meyer and Foley will address the media.” (Gator Zone)

December 8th, 2010 at 2:40 PM
In that respect, Kirk Ferentz would be a perfect hire. A true seamless transition.

Miami should have have jumped on Mullen while they had the chance.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:40 PM

Life after Tebow has been hard on us all.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:46 PM
That guy? He’s clueless.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:46 PM
I knew this was coming. No surprise, been saying it all year. The guy came back because he wanted to leave the program in Addazio’s hands. Then he found out Steve Addazio is a walking abortion.

Take Rich Rod, please.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:47 PM
Anyone else having issues with the site? Hey TBL, have your people call my people about your server issues. They need to invest a little bit of money and take the one your are using and throw it in the street.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:47 PM
I wonder if Urban will take the Orlando Magic job and then come back to Florida a week later

December 8th, 2010 at 2:50 PM
But seriously, who’s getting this job?
December 8th, 2010 at 2:51 PM
i’ll throw my hat into the ring.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:51 PM
I guess we know where Mullen will go. Miami loses out this time.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:52 PM
Mullen has to have the inside track right?
December 8th, 2010 at 2:52 PM
My guess:
1) Stoops
2) Mullen
3) Strong
I would be shocked if it went out of those three,
December 8th, 2010 at 2:52 PM
The next job interview I get will be completely dive-bombed when I describe my present position as “commenting on TBL.”
December 8th, 2010 at 2:52 PM
Tough to say, bet they wish either Mullen or Charlie Strong hadn’t left. Now it probably has to be an outsider.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:54 PM
Just to cover all our bases, complete speculation, but, from what I hear, Gus Malzahn is a possibility.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:55 PM
I guess we know where Mullen will go. Miami gets Beilema and wins this time.
/corrected
December 8th, 2010 at 2:56 PM
Is the Stoops pick an homage to TBL or do you really think he’d leave OU?
And would Gator fans be happy with Mullen or Strong?
December 8th, 2010 at 2:57 PM
1) Weis. 2) Stoops. 3) Skip Holtz 4) Stoops. 5) The other Stoops. 6) Tressel.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:57 PM
Paterno should coach both teams in the bowl game and then transition to FLA
December 8th, 2010 at 2:58 PM
Tebow
December 8th, 2010 at 2:59 PM
Re: Stoops. I have some connections in the athletic department, Stoops told Foley he’d take the job last year…Meyer wanted Addazio to get the gig and that was one of the reasons he changed his mind.
I think most Gator fans would like Mullen or Strong. So long as it’s not some darkhorse assistant.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:59 PM
Winner.
Circumcisions for everyone!

December 8th, 2010 at 3:01 PM
Interesting. I wonder if what’s happened to the Big 12 would help to influence that decision as well.

Not confirmed by me gets hosed again.
December 8th, 2010 at 3:30 PM
