Babar: to be fair, my wife LOVES her car, and is an admitted badge snob. Thus, my constant needling about mine, esp since her Mother & our kids have all told her they like the Genesis more.

Admittedly I see only a handful of Leafs games a year but his insistence on pinching seems to have more to do with the lack of offense from the forwards. Other than Kessel (and potentially Kadri) they can’t create their own chances so they have to gamble in an attempt to create turnovers.

PK, ultimately, is only as good as the guys doing the killing, I’ve watched the Oilers PK this year (on pace for historic lows) and wondered whether Renney should change the system, but at the end of the day they simply aren’t good enough. I’ve long subscribed to the theory of ‘players not plays’.

I understand the logic behind the pinching but at some point, the sample size is large enough to tell you that it costs you way more goals than it helps you score. I was fine with it in year one. He and his consulting firm are overseeing the remake of Toronto’s MLS team. They’re apparently selecting most of the new management team, developing a lot of training strategies and putting together a blueprint for they academy/youth programs. I have high hopes.

The Leafs weren’t nearly as bad as the score indicated. I’m not a Wilson fan, but it’s hard to make chicken salad with chicken shit.

The roster isn’t great but there are parts there that could be moulded into something respectable if they had a coach willing to work to their strengths. Wilson hasn’t adapted the game plan at all in about 3 years. His steadfast insistence on having defenceman pinch on almost every clearing attempt boggles the mind. I also pin a lot of the special teams issues on him (pk more than pp).

I guess it will be easier to get rid of him and Burke at the same time so he might as well stick around for now.
