Blake Griffin’s Two Nasty Dunks Were Part of 44-Point Eruption vs. Knicks (in a Loss) [UPDATE]
Blake. Griffin. His first dunk put Russian rookie Timofey Mozgov on a poster for the first time in his NBA career. Griffin’s hand doesn’t actually touch the rim, he just throws it down violently while using his left hand to drive Mozgoz’s face into his crotch (on purpose?). We were actually more impressed by Griffin’s 2nd dunk, when Griffin spun on the fast break and dunked fiercely on Danilo Gallinari, all in one rapid motion.
The Knicks won, 124-115, for their third triumph in a row. Amare had 39, Gallinari had 31, and those two combined to make more free throws (24) than the Clippers made as a team (22). Griffin had 44 points and took 15 rebounds.
UPDATE: After Griffin dunked on Mozgoz, Amare acknowledged how impressed he was at the :25 mark of this video. [via @Gary Parrish]
Elsewhere in the NBA last night … Rudy Gay made the NBA’s first walk-off buzzer-beater this season, sinking a fadeaway jumper in LeBron’s face as the Grizzlies won a game we knew we should have bet on, 97-95.

the Amar’e dunk down the lane was just as nasty. Just sick athleticism on the part of those 2 guys.

Thanks for the Vids, TBL. I thought the first dunk was awesome, that second one was just incredible.

Griffin is going to be, excuse me, already is a monster. The Clippers might finally a true franchise player to build around. Just get Donald Sterling to sell the team and they might compete for a title because the team might actually spend some money.

the best part of both dunks was his total nonchalance afterward.

That 2nd dunk will be part of his career highlight package. Amazing.

He plays for the Clippers, so its only a matter of time before all the life gets sucked out of him.

Rudy Gay made the NBA’s first walk-off buzzer-beater this season, 97-75.
Was it a half court shot from the MTV rock n jocks basketball game?

There is an article on ESPN.com that says Jeter is looking for more than 4 years from the Yankees. He just does not get it does he? When it gets ugly between him and the team it’s all going to be his fault, but he will spin it that he is a team player.

Needs more Kevin Harlan. Absolutely no regard for human life in that first dunk.

Of course he gets it. His agent is negotiating in the media against a team with basically limitless cash. He’s already turned down 3yrs/45mil. In about a week, they’ll offer 3 years and 15 more million, and then all this negotiation will make sense.
Even if they don’t budge on years, they’re almost definitely going to offer more cash.

It would be great if the Yanks stood their ground and just said, “Final offer, don’t like it? Go play for the fucking Nationals.”

yeah, but they aren’t going to. They’re going to offer more money, just like they do to everybody that says no.

I like the Yankees, but I hate Jeter. Hate, hate, hate him. I have no proof of course, but I am convinced he wants more years only because A-Rod is signed until after 40 and he cant allow someone he hates so much to be with the team longer than him and make more money.
The year that A-Rod had the season he was getting booed every time he came to bat, Jeter was asked why he did not saying something to the fans about it because it was clearly affecting A-Rod’s ability to play well. Mr Yankee said that it was not his place to tell the fans who they can and can not boo. That same season Rivera blew two leads against Boston in one weekend and the fans started to boo him. After the game he went out of his way to complain that the fans have no right to boo Rivera.

He is such a great player he should just start his own team with players of comparable fielding skills. Him at short, Helen Keller at 1st, Christopher Reeve at 2nd, Stinkmeaner pitching. They will never get to anything unless it’s hit right into their gloves, but they try hard every play so they’ll all win gold gloves.

The Yankees aren’t going to be willing to allow Mr. Yankee to get his 3000th hit in another uniform. And to explain that they were doing it on the principle of saving a year and some dough when you’re still paying AJ Burnett. They can’t win this one.
