Charlie Villanueva Says Kevin Garnett Called Him a “Cancer Patient”
The Celtics smothered the Pistons last night, 109-86, but more interesting than anything that took place on the court (that includes Rajon Rondo’s 17-assist, 0-turnover effort) was what Detroit’s Charlie Villanueva tweeted afterward (screen grabs after the jump). Villanueva suffers from alopecia universalis, an autoimmune skin disease; the result is hair loss. Villanueva claims that during the game, Garnett called him a “cancer patient.”
Garnett has been an insufferable prick his entire career. Usually, the 6-foot-11 power forward directs his ire at guards, either delivering cheap shots or getting into scraps with guys who are significantly smaller than he is. Watch here as KG lowers his shoulder into a guard, and then a minute later, talks shit. What the hell is his problem? Who could forget this iconic image from the playoffs in 2009?
(Anthony Peeler is one guard who didn’t take his shit.)
Watch Garnett fall back like a coward here when a guy his size, Zaza Pachulia gets in his face. I wish Dwight Howard would have knocked him the fuck out in this game. Ditto for Amare here. Garnett is an instigator who has yet to prove he can back it up when the fists fly.
Being surrounded by Rondo, Pierce, Allen, and winning a title has only emboldened him.
The worst part is that the 2010-2011 Celtics are actually likable. Between Rondo, Shaq, fiery Nate Robinson, good-guy Ray Allen, and goofball Glen Davis, there’s a lot to like.
Except Garnett.

KG sucks as a human being.
Charlie Villanueva is a shitty basketball player.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:13 AM
who was it that KG jacked in the jaw and then ran away a few years ago?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:15 AM
Wow. There’s some real anger there.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:18 AM
Garnett has been an insufferable prick his entire career
You sir are correct
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:18 AM
Crying on twitter about getting trash talked is just sad.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:19 AM
Anthony Peeler hit him. Video is in there.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:21 AM
you’re an idiot. now don’t cry.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:22 AM
YES! that’s it. thanks. i missed that clip.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:23 AM
It is. KG may be an asshole but going on Twitter to whine about it? Charlie had ample opportunity to punch KG in the face if he was really that offended.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:23 AM
LOL. He does look like a cancer patient.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:23 AM
OOPS didnt read that part
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:24 AM
Cheer for the jersey.
/like Papelbon
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:24 AM
By the way, I’m not saying Charlie is wrong in his opinion, just that the route he chose to go was kind of weak.
I’m not down with the cancer jokes/trash talk.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:26 AM
By the way, I’m not saying Charlie is wrong in his opinion, just that the route he chose to go was kind of weak.
its better than getting suspended and losing a portion of your pay check.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:26 AM
Also, mother bleepin Jon Runyan!
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:26 AM
whatever. dude has a serious disease that caused his hair to fallout, and KG cracks jokes about it being cancer. this isn’t hockey bro, you just can’t drop the gloves and start fighting. you miss a lot of games if you do so.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:27 AM
He clocked Rick Rickert in the jaw back in 2004, during a pick-up game. That what you thinking of?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:30 AM
Valid point. I’m a Charlie fan and he did a lot of good work in his year here, especially with kids who had the same condition as him. I just think the comment about getting ‘in a ring’ was about the same as all of KG’s posturing on the court.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:30 AM
Who would name their kid Rick Rickert?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:33 AM
Agreed, gotta go to twitter to talk about throwing down instead.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:34 AM
it’s like diarrhea with you.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:36 AM
because he has no eyebrows
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:37 AM
K.G. is a loser. No way he’s from Chicago. Too much of a wimp.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:41 AM
remember when “good guy” ray allen jacked anderson varejao in the nuts?
class act, that allen.
and no team with paul pierce on it is likeable.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:42 AM
LOL. He does look like a cancer patient.
I agree with this, and don’t care about his stupid ailment. This guy has never not sucked, even at UConn. He’s totally body bald garbage.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:43 AM
trash talk is exactly that, trash talk. obviously KG has achieved what he set out to do if the Celtics won and Villanueva is flustered. not sure this stuff can be interpreted the same way by a body of people who have never played at that level.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:44 AM
That’s what I love about the Celts. Between Pierce, KG, Allen, Rondo, etc, they are such a colossal bunch of pricks they are easy (and fun!)to hate.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:44 AM
Stay classy, KG. Douchenozzle, First Order
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:45 AM
The worst part is that the 2010-2011 Celtics are actually likable. Between Rondo, Shaq, fiery Nate Robinson, good-guy Ray Allen, and goofball Glen Davis, there’s a lot to like.
this is ridiculous. All those guys are assholes. There is zero to like about the Celtics. Not a single guy. And do not say Glen Davis is athletic, or NDub will come down off the top rope on you.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:45 AM
False: Varajeo doesnt have any nuts.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:45 AM
I died a little bit rooting for them on opening night against the Heat.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:45 AM
Who would name their kid Rick Rickert
Willie Williams?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:46 AM
That’s what I love about the Celts. Between Pierce, KG, Allen, Rondo, etc, they are such a colossal bunch of pricks they are easy (and fun!)to hate.
it’s the truth. Who here likes even one of those guys? Even Rondo turned into a world renowned trash talking asshole last year.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:46 AM
varejao is such a manly man that he doesn’t show signs of pain when midget, also-cancer-patient-looking UCONN assholes throw an elbow to the man region.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:47 AM
They are easy to hate but I think it has more to do with them being really good at basketball and probably whipping your (or my) favourite team on a regular basis. Nobody would give a shit that they are assholes if they weren’t really good/successful.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:49 AM
Also, mother bleepin Jon Runyan!
Yeah, who would have thought Jersey was going turn so Red.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:50 AM
Nobody would give a shit that they are assholes if they weren’t really good/successful.
I thought Nate Robinson was a POS on the Knicks. And I hated Paul Pierce when the Celtics sucked. Miserable crybaby.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:50 AM
has anyone here actually eaten a McRib?
that has to be the most vile, disgusting foodstuff on the planet.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:50 AM
my hate for twitter continues.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:51 AM
Stop making sense!
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:51 AM
Go Celtics!
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:52 AM
Way off topic – but this is hilarious
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:52 AM
has anyone here actually eaten a McRib?
thank you. a terrible faux sandwich made popular by a cartoon.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:53 AM
This. I need to buy my son some Celts gear this weekend.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:53 AM
This makes KG the worst human being in the NBA.
I’ll take Randy Moss as the worst in the NFL.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:54 AM
I’m a huge Ray Allen fan.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:54 AM
I’ll agree with half of this. I have a strong dislike for Nate Robinson and always have. Watching him and Al Harrington play basketball made me want to kill people because they are the prototypical selfish, me-first, winning never players.
Paul Pierce was really good even when his team sucked.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:56 AM
seriously? there’s WAY worse than randy moss.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:56 AM
has anyone here actually eaten a McRib?
I can confirm that they are gross. And you really lose the allure when the mystery meat fits on the bun. That’s just silly.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:56 AM
Ill, when did you suit up again?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:56 AM
There is zero to like about the Celtics. Not a single guy.
i’m a huge delonte west fan. HUGE.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:57 AM
Yeah, I’ll take the rapist
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:57 AM
Paul Pierce was really good even when his team sucked.
he was a miserable crybaby on the court, and a wannabe gang banging thug off of it. Lots to like in PP.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:58 AM
im surprised KG didnt say anything to him about Chuck beating up his gf
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:58 AM
seriously? there’s WAY worse than randy moss.
In terms of treating people like crap.
Yeah I know:
Pacman

November 3rd, 2010 at 8:59 AM
I’ll take Randy Moss as the worst in the NFL.
You can get to 10 pretty quickly before you get to Moss. There’s guys that have killed people who are active in the NFL. And wife beating, pit bull eating their children, headhunting monsters.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:59 AM
Really? I’m not a fan of his antics and his comment was classless but this is a league (like all pro sports leagues) that has a variety of criminals playing in it. My personal moral compass says wife beaters are far worse humans than someone who goes too far with trash talk.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:00 AM
Ron Artest has won me over.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:00 AM
Yeah, I’ll take the rapist
seriously? there’s WAY worse than randy moss.
Point taken CJ and Spencer. I blame the lack of good coffee.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:01 AM
id still think you’d be able to find 10 other guys worse pretty easily.
lotta assholes in that sport. lot. of. assholes.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:01 AM
Sheeeeit! I’ve seen worse said on here by commenters being mistaken for wit. If certain commenters had said the same thing, people would have had their laughs and thrown around their lame +1′s.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:01 AM
What a weird trend we have discovered
Exhibit B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HusUKCcM5sk&feature=fvw
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:03 AM
Ill, when did you suit up again?
i’ve been playing in the WNBA D League for a couple years now, sparty.
i’m just saying that it’s commonplace for derogartory statements to be made on the playing field. figured most people knew that. by no means am i defending that douche KG, i’m just saying that trash talking statements don’t accurately reflect that players stance.
i highly doubt a fat mamma joke would have warranted a tweet from Mr Nueva.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:05 AM
All of this. I’d also love to see a full transcript of everything Michael Jordan ever said to another player on the floor in the heat of battle. I’m sure there would be some gems in there.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:06 AM
+1
of the current celtics, i think shaq and big baby are likeable. big baby trained at my gym while getting ready for the draft and he was cool to talk to.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:06 AM
Really? I think Ron is just off. He seems to have himself in a little better place these days, and I don’t remember any significant Ron vs. anyone stuff off the court. AS far as the melee goes, whenever players go into the stands, I am rooting for them to kick some ass. Most of these “fans” have it coming.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:08 AM

that’s how I feel about NASCAR races, when the cars get airborne. I wish those fences were shorter.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:08 AM
Garnett is a chump. There is trash talk, and then there is being derogatory. Talking about someone’s actual condition is beneath him. There’s a lot tougher dudes in the association that don’t front as much as KG does. Probably the type of dude to clap his hands multiple times while trying to tell someone “I wish a nigga would”.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:09 AM
I’d be surprised if MJ/Bird/etc, trash talk carried over into personal stuff like life threatening diseases. They didn’t need to stoop that low while embarrassing you on the court.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:14 AM
I’ve seen some good hockey player/fan fights on you tube, and I gotta say if there is one sport, other than MMA of course, whose participants I would not screw with it’s hockey.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:15 AM
did ya’ll all read it? This.

i think we give athletes of the past too much credit. those guys were just as corrupt/twisted/law-breaking/etc as the today’s atheletes. fortunately for them, there wasn’t the constant exposure these guys have to deal with today.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:22 AM
I would guarantee that there are things much worse said on a court or a playing field in general. But it’s KG, people are pre-disposed on here to not like him anyway, so cue the outrage.

Yeah, I kinda thought this could pass as a mildly amusing comment on this site. People a bit more sensitive than I remember.

Huh? Apologies but that was one submit.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:37 AM
If being angry about someone with a serious health condition being referred to as a “cancer victim” is sensitive, then I am one sensitive motherfucker. That shit is vile and repulsive.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:57 AM
It’s amazing, when KG was on the T’Wolves, he seemed like a good guy who was stuck on a horrible team. Then he gets to the Celtics and he’s chugging the douche juice by the gallon.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:11 AM
How is this an issue? This is blowing my mind. Had he stuck to just some regular homophobic remark I’m sure nothin would have been said(/sarcasm’d). What people now accept as medical conditions (alcoholism, drug addiction) people are free to openly mock that. As is the case of many people on this site. This is ridiculous that this has blown up. I’m sure if this was a Jets player this wouldn’t be leading off the days post on this site. It’s a personal dislike of a player that has caused this to be an “issue”
I’m not a celtics or a KG fan for the record

Alopecia is “serious?”
November 3rd, 2010 at 12:19 PM
KG is the epitomy of a pussy, trash talking piece of shit. Dude talks shit, takes cheap shots, and runs away every year. He’s a bitch. That move against Richardson last year in the playoffs was a perfect example. Fuck that guy. I hope someday someone lays his ass out.
November 4th, 2010 at 2:53 PM
