Week 9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Blount Trauma
LeGarrette Blount is hurdling people on your waiver wire. He was mentioned last week as getting the majority of carries and a situation to monitor, and if you jumped, congratulations. If your league isn’t as deep and he is still out there, this is a positive situation for Blount to emerge and be a starter over the second half of the season. His talent has never been the issue.  Â
Quarterback: It’s a slow week, but keep an eye on Minnesota (again), where Tarvaris Jackson would be worth a start at home against woeful Arizona if Favre, in addition to the ankle and the jaw injuries, is also hit by a bus, burned at the stake, and disemboweled this week. The Cleveland situation is also one to monitor, as the Patriots are a decent matchup at home, so if you are desperate, roll with Colt McCoy, or Seneca Wallace, or even Jake Delhomme if you get bonus points for interceptions. Good Matchup Starts: Josh Freeman at Atlanta; Jay Cutler at Buffalo.
Running Back: With Ryan Torain’s predictable breakdown, the Redskins backfield situation is again wide open until Portis returns. They are on a bye this week, but if you are planning ahead, Keiland Williams is probably the best bet for week 10. Flex Starts: Not only Matt Forte, but also Chester Taylor is playable against league worst Buffalo. Same situation in Atlanta, where Jason Snelling comes into play because of the matchup with Tampa. Benjarvus Green Ellis and Danny Woodhead are also startable in flex spots against Cleveland.
Wide Receiver: The Dallas Cowboys secondary has been flammable of late, so look to guys like James Jones and Jordy Nelson to have opportunities this week if you need a start. Arrelious Benn finally flashed something last week, and has a pretty good matchup against Atlanta.  Other Matchups: Get Mike Williams in against Atlanta (79.2 y/gm to #1 WR’s) if you had any doubts; Johnny Knox vs. Buffalo; Patrick Crayton at Houston; Deion Branch at Cleveland.
Tight End: I highlighted Jacob Tamme as the guy at tight end to focus on with Dallas Clark out. He delivered against a team that is worst against tight ends.  Vernon Davis hurt an ankle in London, and Delanie Walker stepped in. If Davis isn’t ready when the 49ers come back from a bye, Walker, who is an athletic receiver, can be a starting option. Other matchups: Look to Ben Watson and Aaron Hernandez in the Cleveland vs. New England matchup; tight ends have had success against Pittsburgh, so Jermaine Gresham is startable despite going against a tough defense; Greg Olsen has been inconsistent, but this is a great matchup in Buffalo.
Defenses/Special Teams:Â New Orleans at Carolina appears to be the best among teams that might be available; Detroit is playing better and gets the New York Jets coming off a lackluster effort.

Minnesota at home against Arizona or Baltimore at home against Miami?
This should be much easier than it currently is.

that’s all your options? That’s not a good set of options. That said, Baltimore. You can trust me, I’m in 24th place in Irish’s pick ‘em league.

I would pick the team hosting the Max Hall/Derek Anderson poo-poo platter.

that 3 point week really hurts you.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:20 PM
There’s a couple more options, but I can’t take Indy at Philly.

I contend that if you tried hard to get a lower score than that, it’s not possible. It’s astounding how poorly I picked that week.

Stupid MTSU is going to cost me my last 21 cents.

get your balls out, and take Buffalo. They’re going to win. Cutler, outdoors, on a cold weekend, running a Martz defense? That’s your pick.
You’ll be a golden god if you do it.

Where am I after my 0-fer week?

tomorrow morning, log on early, and just bet against whatever I bet in tennis. You’ll have three bucks by noon.

Ha, I was looking at that one. The Bills have been knockin’.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:24 PM
Or he’ll be on drugs, one of the two.

Where am I after my 0-fer week?
4 points behind me, near the top of the one week missers. But way, way, way out of contention. Down by 20 total or so

What really hurt was the Hawks derping around last Friday and not covering, and West Virginia going full retard and losing to UCONN.

Games being played in Toronto, they close the roof at Skydome?
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 PM
That’s right! The potato-puncher gone and carried my team to victory this past week.
This is where I mention I also picked up Tamme and the Rams D for that feast on Carolina.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:31 PM
that’s a really good question. I would think open roof as it is two outdoor teams and canucks can handle the elements.
I love the city of Toronto but fuck the NFL for moving the Bills home games.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:31 PM
So there’s a chance?
/there’s really no chance
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:33 PM
just when you thought the Michigan defense couldn’t be any worse – Twitter is blowing up that Michigan’s starting CB broke his ankle.
book 5-7 and bye bye Rod.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:33 PM
Roof should be open if there is no rain/snow. One of the reasons for having the game in November is so that they have the option of opening the roof. They seal it for the winter in December.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:37 PM
They will beat Purdue.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:39 PM
New Jersey is fucked. Parise out 3 months
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:40 PM
not so sure about that. purdue has beaten michigan 2 in a row. Purdue looks awful but Michigan can’t stop anybody.
November 2nd, 2010 at 7:42 PM
This is fantastic news. I love Parise but I hate me some New Jersey Devils. Maybe Ilya will rise to the occasion and carry the team? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
