Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic Are Engaged

Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic are now engaged. 26-year-old Vujacic proposed to the 23-year-old Sharapova exactly a year after they first met. Sharapova was named the world’s highest paid female athlete this year, pulling in more than $24 million. Vujacic has earned around $14 million in his 5-year career. Smart move, Sasha.

Vujacic sucks and is annoying.
The Machine is some hilarious You Tube parodies of Vujacic from a few years ago.

One more reason to hate that guy. And Maria in that 2nd pic… A+
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:08 AM
I feel like Sharapova’s been 23 for like 5 years.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:09 AM
She looks good here but she is kind of always hit or miss for me. I have never seen Anna K look bad ever though
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:09 AM
The $24M must be only tennis related earning right?
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:10 AM
add the Machine to the Above the Rim Hall of Fame

Sharapova the highest paid athlete this year.can not be right. You mean tennis player maybe? I would imagine that tiger even with his problems or a-rod just based on his contract made more, no?
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:11 AM
Highest pain woman athlete, maybe?

Doesn’t have to any more, he putta ring on it.

So anyway, I saw Russell Westbrook in person for the first time the other night, and man, that cat is explosive. Really impressive. Thunder are a fun team to watch.

She makes too much to be good at it. Plus she seems like too much of a good girl. Probably does not even do it come to think about it
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:17 AM
corn, you’ve never seen a bad pic of anna k? she went through a couple years where she looked like a straw
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:18 AM
They seem to be everyone’s second favorite team around here, behind the one they grew up rooting for. I’ll definitely watch them when they’re on.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:19 AM
The world is not fair. This is proof. He looks like he smells like Fritos.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:19 AM
They’re so athletic, it’s pretty awesome. And Harden has a great Partlow/Ed Reed beard, which always gets bonus points from me.

I’ll probably watch more basketball this year if they are on. It’ll be better than watching the Raps.

Maria? Um…she’s a mega-diva/bitch. I bet she sucks a mean dick. Get her some good Russian vodka and she’d be like a Dyson.

The “teabaggers” are not a religion. MSLSD, mainstream media, and other CONTINUALLY assault the Christian religion as all the time. I’d be hard pressed to find someone who got fired for an anti-Christian rant recently. All other religions including Jewish, Islam, Hindu, Shinto, Santaria, Buddist, etc are beyond criticism. Why is it OK to assault the Christian religion? Please don’t bring out the tired old “fundamentalist Christians, and boy raping Catholic priests” line. It’s tiring. What about “artists” who paint Christ in feces, and other such stuff. Perfectly acceptable, right?

Ok St is a blast to watch play. It helps when their star isn’t a mega douche like LeBron. I hate Texas with a passion, but I loved watching Durant play in college. Such a badass.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:23 AM
Teabaggers crack me up too much to scare me!
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:23 AM
Anything will be better than watching the Raps. I’m sure they’re going to be ‘scrappy’ and run a lot but there will be a whole lot of losing going on. Already looking forward to draft previews for next year to see who we’re getting with a top 5 pick.

The only defense they’ll face that is remotely good is AZ’s, and that game is at home. The USC game will be interesting next week as the Trojans will have had 2 weeks to prepare, but they are so undermanned on defense that I don’t think they’ll be able to hold Oregon back too much. Oregon had better hope they don’t see Bama or even Ohio State in a bowl game. A good, stout d-line blows the zone read up more times than not. Oregon’s offense is designed to pummel bad defenses. They embarrass teams who play lax D.

I get what youre saying and it annoys me too. What I think it is though, is that a majority of this country identifies themselves as Chrisians. And it has always seemed taboo to attack something that is the minority in this country, but ok to attack the majority.

Marc Lamont Hill was fired last year from Fox News for being a Mumia sympathizer and I don’t remember any free speech outrage from the right.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:28 AM
I saw that. He failed on another breakaway last night that would have tied the game up. Leafs are settling back in to reality. They’re much improved defensively (forwards especially) and in net but they are going to struggle to score goals.
Komisarek and Lebda playing together gives me nightmares.

Not just salaries, but teams! He’s talking contraction which is probably a good thing, though it’s just a negotiating plot.
Memphis, New Orleans, and Charlotte beware…
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:32 AM
I saw that. He failed on another breakaway last night that would have tied the game up
Ya, I watched most of the game before the Oil/Wild came on. What did you think of Bozak getting benched?
Hall didn’t get a point but was dominant last night, if they play that way and lose I can accept it. The second/third periods were fun to watch.
Komisarek/Lebda >>> Vandermeer/Peckham

Thank god. I think the NBA would benefit the most from contraction out of any league.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:35 AM
The NBA needs to lose 4 teams. They won’t do it…but they need to.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:35 AM
If he contracts some teams here, he can eventually add some teams overseas. I can see it happening.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:35 AM

You had to put in a waiver claim a couple days ago. I think at the time I had a higher waiver position than you.

He owns the Habs. Everyone else now owns him because he’s fat, old and slow. Seriously, not that good anymore. The Devils are floundering as a whole too. Fucking Kovalchuk is a big fat minus right now AND he’s not putting up points.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:36 AM
Would they really do that with the travel involved? I can’t imagine an overseas team would have an easy time signing American free agents.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:37 AM

I’ll give you Gagne and Havlat!

October 22nd, 2010 at 10:38 AM
I didn’t like it. I could have lived with a shuffle where Bozak got bumped down to Ziggy’s line but nailing him to the bench is pointless.
Probably but I’d really prefer to see Mikus or Lashoff playing over Lebda. He’s not a terrible depth guy but he’s got zero upside.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:38 AM
Fucking Kovalchuk is a big fat minus right now AND he’s not putting up points.
Do we need to sit down and have a serious discussion as to why +/- is a shitty stat?
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:39 AM
Totally the same thing but not at all similar
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:39 AM
It’s a fantasy category therefore it matters when concerning an overpaid Russian jackass that got autodrafted to my team.
The points still matter in things not fantasy related. Ovechkin lite my ass. Score a fucking goal.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:40 AM
This was my feeling until Josh Childress left the NBA to play in Greece and other players intimated they might do the same. You also have a slew of Euro players that would probably jump at the chance.
I think if you put teams in Barcelona, London, Italy, etc. it might work. But you’d have to do it all at once and not add a team one year, another 3-4 years down the road.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:41 AM
I’ll give you Gagne and Havlat!
Havlat is averaging a point a game, he should have had a couple more last night. I don’t want Gagne anywhere near my team.
Garland, I was perplexed by the Bozak move as well, I can see limiting his ice, but they should be playing the shit out of that line. Gotta love Ron Wilson.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:41 AM
SC – Are you really shocked that Kovalchuk has disappeared after signing that contract? You thought that selfish fuck was going to play the same way he did before he got paid? Dude is going to be on one long ass retirement tour for the next decade.

So he wants to contract Charlotte, a team that has only been there what 6 or 7 years because the team that was there before already left town on their own?
Best commissioner in sports!

All of this right here. If I was a GM I wouldn’t sign a Russian to more than a two year contract. Sweet Lou really took that one on the chin from his owner.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:44 AM
No. But he was autodrafted to my squad, therefore I have to hope he does something. He’ll probably have like 2 hot streaks this year when something pisses him off but I don’t expect more than 35 goals and 65 points.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:45 AM
I could see pulling that move with a second year player who came through junior and has a habit of coasting by on talent. Bozak is a guy with a track record of busting his ass and paying attention to detail (faceoffs, defensive assignments, etc…). He wasn’t having a great game and was being knocked off the puck a little too much but I think a lot of the credit for that should go to the great game the Rangers played without the puck.
Only bright side is that Bozak isn’t the type of player to sulk so he should bounce back well.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:46 AM
Marty Havlat will not play more than 55 games this season. If that was in a sportsbook to start the season as an O/U, it would have been -800 to bet on it. Guy can’t stay healthy.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:47 AM
I have heard a lot of stuff that it’s a fake wedding because she is secretly a lady lover and he is just her beard and that they have already planned to cancel the wedding in order to get publicity

They both suck balls.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:52 AM
I think a lot of the credit for that should go to the great game the Rangers played without the puck.
The Rangers played a solid game last night. I’m coming around on Del Zotto, thought he was a little too one dimensional last year, but that probably had more to do with being so young than anything else.
I was questioning Renney before the game last night after he switched up Hall and Paajarvi. But the Hall/Cogliano/Brule was all over the place last night. If only he hadn’t stuck to his rolling of the lines, the 4th line gave up two bad goals early, cost them the game.

October 22nd, 2010 at 10:54 AM
In simple terms, yes. More specifically, neither one of them is willing to play a game within the limitations of their skills. They are constantly trying to pull off shit that will fail more than it will succeed. One of them needs to go (Lebda’s contract means it’s him) and be replaced with an intelligent/responsible player.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:56 AM
It’s totally awesome that the NHL is keeping the Coyotes in Phoenix!
5,000 for the home opener is a joke. A new owner isn’t going to result in a bunch of new fans. I’m sure new guy has some language in the agreement that allows him to relocate if the team keeps losing money.
October 22nd, 2010 at 10:57 AM
Do you know who BizNasty2point0 is on twitter? I think he plays for Phoenix but I have no idea which player he is. He made a comment about the lack of people at the game.
If the ATL marketing people knew anything they could get more people to attend Thrashers games just from posting a few videos of Andrew Ladd.

Yes, Winnipeg (Manitoba Moose) almost outdrew Phoenix last night. Moose vs Coyotes attendance may be something to follow this year.
From Jeff Marek this morning.
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:08 AM
To be honest, it’s hard to fault the league for putting a team in Phoenix when they did because it was one of the fastest growing cities in the country. I understand the warm weather thing and whatnot, but teams like Carolina and Florida were worse ideas. Smaller markets.
Phoenix and Atlanta had potential because of market size. Now that they’ve failed, time to cut losses.
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:09 AM
SC at least Boynton can block shots. John Scott does NOTHING. Horrible horrible signing.
Ladd was invaluable and never should have been traded. Yes I know the team had cap issues but they should have figured out a way to keep him. They could have dumped Brouwer’s ass somewhere.
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:11 AM
Phoenix and Atlanta had potential because of market size. Now that they’ve failed, time to cut losses.
A large part of the problem in Phoenix is the location of the arena. It’s not the easiest place to get to. Couple that with the lack of success and it’s a recipe for failure in many US markets.
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:12 AM
He’s an RFA where as when Ladd comes off ATL’s books, he’s a UFA. They made the right choice in terms of economics and long term signability. But yeah, I miss Ladd. Keeping Sharpie was the best offseason move they made.
Agree on Scott and Boynton sentiments. I still miss Sopel. He was such a lovable meatbag. I also admit to hating him most of the regular season but he grew on me.
