Colts Punter Pat McAfee Arrested After Drunken Dip in Indianapolis Canal

Pat McAfee, the Colts punter, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication around 5 am this morning. Police found McAfee shirtless, dripping wet, and reeking of alcohol. The punter said his shirt was in the Indianapolis Central Canal. Then, he asked police if he could walk home. They arrested him after he blew a .15 on the breathalyzer, which was twice the legal limit. The other part of the story is that when the cops asked him why he was wet, he said “because it’s raining”

Oh God, I hope they don’t. He’s the sole reason for the marginal uptick in the Colts’ special teams. Doubt they cut him.

They won’t. Their DT Fili Moala got a DUI over the offseason and nothing happened to him. And I doubt the Colts will want to have to open up a roster spot for another punter just to suspend him for like a quarter or something. He also handles kickoffs. Has a rocket leg.

Sec. 1. A police officer or peace officer making an arrest for public intoxication may do the following:
(1) If an individual is unmanageable or is causing damage to the individual or others, take the individual into custody for criminal processing in the city lock-up or county jail.
(2) If an individual is manageable and not causing damage to the individual or others, issue a citation and do either of the following:
(A) If within reasonable proximity, take the individual to any of the following:
(i) The individual’s home.
(ii) The home of a relative of the individual.
(iii) A responsible person who is competent and willing to provide care, assistance, and treatment.
(B) Take the individual to an approved public or private treatment facility or to the city lock-up or county jail if no facility is available.

So either the cops were dicks or he was. If he was cooperative they should have just issued the ticket and taken him home
