both the nba and golf are totally off my radar. i literally couldn’t name 10 players from each sport.

Ouch. We have to really limit the spending at the movie theater. One movie at night for the wife and I is $40 + babysitter. Can almost get two tickets in the upper deck for the Oil for that.

Don’t move up here. $12 per ticket for an afternoon matinee, plus at least $12 more for 2 drinks and popcorn

The $15 per ticket price was matinee. I went at 1:15. Basically I’m either restricting myself to only seeing movies at the IMAX ($17 for a regular ticket and the popcorn is cheaper) or I’m only seeing movies when I go visit my parents (matinee price is $6).

That’s fine, but wouldn’t the revenue produced by the increased amount of people going to the movie with cheaper food/drinks outweigh the fewer people going now (many of which refuse to spend a dime at concessions?)

By this logic nothing should be priced high, it’s simple supply and demand…and I don’t think the movie industry is hurting at all, if anything the recession has helped it because $20 for two tickets is still cheaper than a lot of other entertainment options for people who still want to go out

Will someone who knows anything about business explain to me how a movie theater wouldn’t get more people to a theater with cheap food/drinks? If they were giving that shit away, wouldn’t you be more apt to go?

It’s pretty much the only way the theaters make their money. I believe studios licensing fees are crazy high and are based on the number of seats in your theater.

my son was at my mother-in-laws last weekend and was watching Wall Street 2 on her computer. She was amazed, & wanted to start doing that.

go to the machine and buy kids tickets. the 14 year olds working the door never look at the tickets

Go to the right theater and you can bring in stubs from a previous movie and they won’t even bother checking. You can even pick a stub up on teh ground on the way in. This actually works every at the Showplace 16 in Naperville.

It’s also where I almost got in a fight with four kids who thought I was a student at a nearby school when I’m actually a teacher there.
