Have a weird feeling the Patriots beat the Ravens this weekend and Peter Schmuck looks like a wise man.
Ravens aren’t very good.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:52 AM
I may not know much, but I know this: When a cop says “Stop or I’m gonna tase you”, I’m stopping.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:52 AM
It’s because he’s a douchebag! He’s a giant bag of douche! What an asshole!

October 14th, 2010 at 8:53 AM
Pats are fucked.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:53 AM
Yes! I got two links into the roundup.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:54 AM
Best I can tell, the cheapest seat I can get on StubHub for one of the games in Philly is $167 (standing room only). In San Francisco, it’s $117 (SRO). In NY, it’s $110 (obstructed view, but bleacher is just $115). And Texas…. $60.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:54 AM
true but that announcer seems like an even bigger one
October 14th, 2010 at 8:54 AM
That’s just silly. Name 5 teams better than them at this second.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:55 AM
Chris Jackson, do your thing, homie.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:55 AM
Ravens aren’t very good.
Pats are fucked.
these two aren’t mutually exclusive
October 14th, 2010 at 8:56 AM
Lisk has been railing against San Diego’s special teams for weeks.
actually, he originally tried to use past season stats to say they wouldn’t give up any more special teams touchdowns this year, at least not on returns.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:56 AM
Yes! I got two links into the roundup.
okay already! we get it! yer a person who sends in links!
October 14th, 2010 at 8:56 AM
Nice roundup pic, always thought she was pretty hot in her short appearances on 30 Rock
October 14th, 2010 at 8:56 AM
That’s just silly. Name 5 teams better than them at this second.
i base it on this: they needed until the last minute to beat the Steelers, who were playing a 4th string QB, and needed 2 very makeable FGs to be missed. not the profile of a powerhouse.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:57 AM
so little going on in sports last night that we get no less than 3 highlights from the marshall game in the Top 10 plays
October 14th, 2010 at 8:57 AM
Ravens aren’t very good.
this is just silly, although their quarterback is not good at all.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:58 AM
Yeah, but aren’t they like… the only team that’s beaten the Steelers?
October 14th, 2010 at 8:59 AM
Brett Favre got hit in the groin with a football yesterday. Ha!
i could watch this all day long.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:59 AM
Methinks the Joe Flacco opinion poll has swung a little too far towards disapproval.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:00 AM
It’s close this year, but def next year when they lose the dead weight.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:00 AM
I don’t think any team can be labled a powerhouse in the NFL right now. So just by having an outstanding defense, the Ravens are near the top. Defenze, they haz it.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:00 AM
Good to see TBL still has a sense of humor.
Pretty sure Micha Barton is fat and ugly now. Karmic justice for ruining the OC.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:01 AM
but he made john claytons elite rankings made specifically to make flacco look elite
October 14th, 2010 at 9:01 AM
I would say Ravens are top 3 along with Pitt and the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
October 14th, 2010 at 9:01 AM
video of a naked jogger getting taseed – Florida, of course
wet
October 14th, 2010 at 9:02 AM
Methinks the Joe Flacco opinion poll has swung a little too far towards disapproval.
I’ve seen two games this year. I’m basing what I think on what I saw. I get Ravens Pats this weekend, and the Pats have a suspect secondary, so maybe he’ll look good this week.
But if the Ravens are not very good, and they beat the Steelers, then all the Steelers have are excuses, right?
October 14th, 2010 at 9:02 AM
Go Browns!
October 14th, 2010 at 9:03 AM
Favre is willing to sit out? big of him
October 14th, 2010 at 9:04 AM
Just to chime in on yesterday’s 30 on 30 debate:
The 2 Escobar’s is one of the best docs I’ve ever seen. I would have paid money to see it. Once Brothers was great, but I don’t think the filmmaker knew how to start. Got off to an awkward start.
I loved The U but thought it needed a little external perspective. But for pure entertainment value, it was awesome.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:04 AM
but we take issue with the Big 12 being called the “toughest basketball conference in the land
You are making me think here. The Big 12 is going to be really good this year.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:04 AM
Yeah, I didn’t mean that just for you. And obviously I agree that Clayton is annoying.
But I think the “Flacco is not good” and/or “Flacco sucks” folks are getting a bit out of hand. Uneven, yes. Sucks, no.

All of that.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:06 AM
Go Browns!
they should show the browns game nationally this week. mccoy could die on national tv. talk about a ratings boost.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:07 AM
That’s being far too kind.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:07 AM
could make a case for miles austin being the best WR in NFL right now. dude is a defensive focus and still gets his, often amazingly
October 14th, 2010 at 9:07 AM
coming in February Dr Tom. Not too soon. I saw that preview last night while watching SoA.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:09 AM
ahhh, nascar.
hey sunnsysid, i mean ark, this needs some tone. i’m gonna go with the kind of ‘ahhhh nascar fans’ that is equivalent to ‘ah, home for the holidays.’
October 14th, 2010 at 9:09 AM

that rushin column linked above reminded me why i can’t stand his preachy, snobbish prose. not to mention it failed on two very basic fundamentals: it neither informed nor enlightened.
five minutes of my life i’ll never get back.

October 14th, 2010 at 9:33 AM
I wouldn’t mind if it was someone besides sunnyside, isn’t he known for his moronic comments on nearly a daily basis? I at least try to space mine out a bit. at least I thought.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:33 AM
like sally jesse raphael
more like drew carey, esp. now that carey is skinny, which is just wrong. imagine if chris farley would have dropped 300 pounds. not the same
October 14th, 2010 at 9:34 AM
Just for the record, Mishka Barton is not washed-up, she’s drugged out.

No. 1, sunnyside is the only other NASCAR fan here (oh, texansfan, too)
No. 2, i’m one of the few here who like sunnyside. yesterday i referenced him because you told a funny family story
/bottom line, no harm intended

that was a setup. dude was never gonna jump. TI is going to court tomorrow for parole violation. coincidence? i think not.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:37 AM
this i agree with. some people should accept that they look better being bigger. Can’t fault him for wanting to be healthy…but I’d start looking for a new host for The Price is Right ASAP.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:37 AM
But both are dumb.
i would love a dog like that, but don’t they have health and maintenance issues?
we’re trying to find the right dog–we have three wee ones, not a huge yard, no wish to vacuum hair every day

So I had this dream last night that I was interviewing Snooki for a job.. she walks in and hands me an application but all that is filled in is the first line. I explain to her she has to fill in the rest and she says “Oh, I thought you would do that while you talk to me”. I then have to go line by line with her and explain what things like “address” and “birthday” mean. Dont ask me what job I thought she was qualified to do.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:40 AM

/does that combo get one banned? (maybe it should)
October 14th, 2010 at 9:42 AM
Bulldogs are really expensive and have serious health issues. I think they’re awesome, but I can’t imagine owning one. Also, down in GA, every single breeder tries to connect their dogs to Uga so they can jack the price up.
Ndub: His real name is awesome. Who wouldn’t want a bulldog named Big Bad Bruce?
October 14th, 2010 at 9:42 AM

wow. aren;t dreams supposed to be nonsensical?
i had a dream the other day that actually had TBL commenters in it, but GSG is the only one i can remember
October 14th, 2010 at 9:43 AM
eh, I probably got my commenters mixed up. no problem. and roastbeast, that was kind of a catch-22 wasn’t it, because if I would have bashed nascar fans, isn’t that more of a slam against you anyways? I should have cleared it up and just said, ahhhh, rednecks, which that guy clearly was, and all would have been good.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:43 AM
Smush mush!
/South Park got it right
October 14th, 2010 at 9:43 AM
They do have health issues, roastbeast. They pant a lot, easily get overheated, and have allergies because of the way their faces (noses) and necks are built.
They’re cute as shit and funny to look at because they’re so rolly polly. But, they’re difficult to train because their stubborn and not intelligent.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:44 AM
I think it should be up for consideration at least.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:44 AM
With kids it’s so tough to pass up a lab. They are excellent family dogs. They do shed a decent bit though.
Sidenote: Anyone else pissed that three of the best games are on at 3:30 Friday? Ark-Aub, Tex-Neb and Mich-Iowa…boo.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:44 AM
I think roastbeast is auditioning for coop’s meme.

One of the worst things about job hunting is when you apply for something where you fit the description perfectly and never hear back from the place, then go on the internet and see that 2 weeks later they have re-posted the same job because they haven’t found anyone yet. Just happened to me this morning… again.

Wish they would have moved the Tex-Neb game to noon/11c.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:47 AM
There are bulldog rescue shelters in each state. I’m always so tempted to head to one. But I just don’t have the time for a dog right now.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:47 AM
apply again! don’t give up, holmes. this time, apply and give them about 3 days max before you start calling trying to set up your interview.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:48 AM
No no no. That game is a huge recruiting weekend for NEB. Early starts are killers for recruiting purposes. I would have preferred it at 8:00 (7 CST). At least I get to watch UGA and then go straight into the Nebraska game. I just wish I could also watch the Ark-Aub game.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:48 AM
At least the night game will be entertaining.
/BIG TEN FOOTBAW!
October 14th, 2010 at 9:49 AM
Well, Michigan-Iowa is certainly on my TV. Ark-Auburn is CBS, right? So I can pull that up at CBSSports.com. And Texas-Nebraska is ESPN? So I might be able to pull that up at ESPN3.com if its not blacked out here. If so, I’ll do split screen on the laptop. Shit, maybe I’ll just find an illegal stream.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:49 AM

October 14th, 2010 at 9:51 AM
Been there. Laid off for 14 months the first time, got a job that got me by, got laid off after 6 1/2 months, and about 5 weeks later, I finally found a job that fits me perfectly. Took me almost two years…..but it actually can end well. Good luck, hang in there.

October 14th, 2010 at 9:51 AM
I will be a MASSIVE Wisconsin fan this weekend…but I don’t see them winning that game. I think their defense is too soft.
Ndub: The Nebraska-Texas game will be on ABC down here, so I don’t know if you’ll be able to watch it online. Plus, I can’t watch two games at once. I will always just pick one to watch and then flip back to the other during commercials.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:51 AM
I’ve already Fandangoed.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:52 AM

Anyone have any thoughts on Mich – Iowa? Think UM got exposed a bit last week, but not a big Iowa fan. Hopefully DR gets back on track. Dude is exciting to watch.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:54 AM
I have tried that before and it does not work.
Last week I applied for some freelance gig, that again I fit the description perfectly for, with some fashion house doing a video project for them. It said they were going to rent whatever equipment was necessary, so when I applied I said that I own all my own stuff that I would be more than happy to use and would of saved then a couple thousand dollars. They still did not get back to me. And this was on Craigslist too.
Just venting.

October 14th, 2010 at 9:56 AM
I think beats them pretty good. Mich’s defense will make Iowa look great on offense and I don’t see Mich putting up more than 24 points.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:57 AM
what’s your profession?
October 14th, 2010 at 9:57 AM
I like the 2:30 games a whole lot more when they are on the road. there really isn’t many good games this weekend though, but Camp Randall will be pretty riled up, they won’t know what to do up there with not having their customary 11:00 start which it seems like they have every week.

Once like 10 minutes after it was posted. My sister knows someone who does HR and she says that if you apply more than once or contact them without being asked to you come off as desperate and as someone they will not want to del with.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:58 AM

i aint got no money but i damn sure got it made
October 14th, 2010 at 10:00 AM
same here, which sucks because my game was starting to come around a bit at the end of the summer, but football season also coincides with hunting season, which makes weekends tough.

He did a great job on the board of Freddie Mac.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:01 AM
Iowa is giving 3, right? That seems like a pretty easy bet. I’m going to assume that Iowa’s defense is going to be able to do pretty much what State’s did last weekend.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
That just means he’s a much better hustler than most politicians.
/13 years working for Wall Street firms
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
wrong. it does work and is absolutely necessary in landing a job. networking is extremely important too, but if you don’t know anybody, well then, you don’t know anybody. the only other way to set yourself apart is with persistence. when I was laid off, I had resumes and cover letters to 40+ companies and had a system down where I waited a few days to allow them to to review my resume and then I started calling. I made every single one of them tell me they weren’t hiring or just turn me down before I stopped calling. I heard many no’s before I heard the one yes that I needed.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
All political opinions must be a Democrat versus Republican choice. It’s black and white, very simple, you know.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
I think roastbeast is auditioning for coop’s meme.
i admit it. i have problems being a dick and dreams with raandom folks in them
/doesn;t seem llike a fun meme, but i’ll take whatever you got
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
Its Chicago…it doesn’t matter. You win the Dem primary, you win the election. Personally, I’m on Team Ditka. Why? Train wreck.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
The difference between Michigan last week and Michigan in the previous five weeks was that the Wolverines turned over the ball. If Denard doesn’t make two terrible decisions in the endzone, that’s a different game. The defense sucked in all of Michigan’s games, though.
I see Iowa running early, setting up playaction and getting some lengthy passes from Stanzi.
Not until you make a comment about Islam or Muslims.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:02 AM
I really hate decision makers some times….for instance:
There are 3 late games this week
Oakland/SF
Jets/Denver
Minny/Dallas (you can guess who’s brocasting that one)
Woof.
I will be rooting for the stadium destroying comet to win the Vikings/Cowboys game.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:03 AM
Haha. I’m guessing Erin won’t be seen at State St. Brats or Wandos. Probably should hit up Fat Sandwich Co…so good.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:04 AM
Mich-Iowa, Aub-Ark, Neb-Tex and OSU-Wisky are all really good games. Then you have two interesting SEC games with Fla-Miss St and SC-Kent, Cal-USC is also good. Mizzou-Texas A&M is also good as an A&M loss could mean Sherman gets canned at season’s end.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:04 AM
I generally agree with your point, but I’m kinda looking forward to Denver/NYJ.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:04 AM
you never apply more than once for the same job posting. that comes across as stupid, not desperate. but, you ALWAYS contact the person who you will be working for. I’m not talking about HR (unless you’re applying for an HR job), because HR doesn’t give a shit who gets hired. I’m talking about calling the boss of the department you’re applying to be hired in and expressing your interest in the position.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:05 AM
Miz gets it. My last job search was agony and took months, hundreds of resumes, jobs where I thought I was the perfect fit but didn’t get it, and lots of pride swallowing. But, you just need one place to say yes.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:05 AM
apply and give them about 3 days max before you start calling
are you saying that old saw about being persistent and showing how much you want a job by calling to follow up still works? i’m cynical, cuz with so much supply in the labor market, employers are finding exactly what they need, rather than being impressed by someone’s moxie
October 14th, 2010 at 10:05 AM
Never implied that. Just the way the comment was worded. Low interest rates only compound this problem and unfortunaely benefits will have to be cut. Its hard to fix this when the Dems largest constinuency and the ones who will put Rahm into office is the beneficiary of those pensions.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:06 AM
it was a weak attempt to skew your words into liking peens and men. i.e. coop’s meme.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:06 AM
I do video- edit, shoot. I also produce and have done writing in the past. And on a high level, not local news in the middle of nowhere. Now I just do my own wedding videography business out of my little office at home for the past like 3 years or so, but the economy has killed me this year. I lost like 2/3 of my clients this year because they did not want to pull the trigger and sign a contract. Or the ones you actually get you have to undervalue yourself to close the deal. Or the fiance wants to show the bride who’s boss and refuses to hire you after you spend like a month e-mailing and meeting up with them.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:06 AM
The game last year was lost on special teams and the offense turning the ball over. Though I agree, the Badger defense has looked pitiful this year and Pryor has made some pretty large strides throwing the ball. I’m just hoping it isn’t a blowout.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:07 AM
i did that once for a job i really wanted. I told the guy there’s absolutely no way i can get to my cell phone during these hours when i’m at work and i’ll be happy to call you back the moment i can, or we can set up a time. he refused to set up a time and always called me when i couldn’t answer, never returned my calls. or acknowledged my voicemails. guy was a douche.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:08 AM

Miz speaks the truth. I do a fair amount of the hiring for the company I work for and someone that takes the initiative and calls to state their interest in the job typically moves closer to the top of the pile. They may not always get the job but I think they tend to get more interviews.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:08 AM
Your problems are at least as serious in Illinois, but at least your choices are better than here in NY. Paladino is not an option for anyone who is honest with themselves and can make a rational choice. Cuomo gives no one any reason to be optimistic that anything fundamental will change.
Just hope the Wall Street recovery continues so NYS can reap the tax windfall, cover up all the problems a little longer. Whatever.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:09 AM
Badger – What are the best spots to watch the game in Madison if you don’t have a ticket? Went to Brats last year for the Iowa/UW game which was alright, but looking for a better spot. Looking to be close to State Street so Stadium Bar is out.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:09 AM
it’s exactly what I’m saying. employers are receiving a tidal wave of resumes when they advertise a position. it’s a bunch of hollow papers listing credentials. if you want a job, you have to set yourself apart. if you’re young (like me) and you have limited experience (like me) then you likely don’t have the credentials to beat out someone that’s been in the industry for two-to-three times longer. if you’re waiting for your resume to do all the talking, that’s the formula for staying unemployed.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:10 AM
The reason those turnovers happened is that Michigan’s running game was essentially shut down, forcing them to pass. Although Denard had been pretty efficient passing up until that game, those numbers were skewed because he was making easy throws that resulted from teams keying on the run. Last Saturday, he was forced to make some more difficult throws. he just doesn’t have that in him yet. He’s going to be faced with that same scenario the remainder of the Big Ten season.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:11 AM

so you do work so good, most work in your chosen field is beneath you, but you’re looking for work. And the people who don’t hire you for wedding photography or video are the assholes, but lately nobody’s hiring you, so everybody is assholes who won’t sign a contract or just the guy is a jerk.
As I’ve said before, you sound awesome.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:11 AM
Yeah, but how do you find out the persons name or get their number? I’ve tried calling just the general number to get that info and once they figure out why you are calling they just blow you off.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:11 AM
I’d share a fishbowl with her
October 14th, 2010 at 10:11 AM
Yeah, doesn’t seem like there is much to be optimistic about in a lot of these cases.

I think I might need to take a mental health day and stop following Roger Ebert on Twitter. He posts the most depressing shit ever. Like this story.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:12 AM
Sad part is, everywhere I look, it always seems like I’m confronted with the lesser of two evils. The political ads just piss me off, because it’s all negative bullshit that twist words. Does anyone have a quality, reputable site (that doesn’t lean one way or the other) to do factual research on candidates? I like to vote, but refuse to do so unless I have an educated opinion on where someone stands.
Politics blow

that sucks. i had a hard time getting anything in film production after college and got out of the game when nothing was coming up. could only find non guaranteed per diem work.
the photographer i hired for my wedding in august was originally a videographer and got in to photography instead since fewer people were hiring for video 5 years ago.

I’m mildly interested in the ole piss-bama game as well. mostly to see houston nutt fidget on the sidelines while Saban unleashes the wrath on him. ole piss players have been talking a lot this week thinking that they will stay in the game with them. I do think the spread is a little high, but I think Bama comes out with something to prove.

October 14th, 2010 at 10:18 AM
Maybe you should read more closely instead of just trolling.
I never said anyone was beneath me. 10% of the country is out of work, so I guess that 10% of the country must suck at what they do. Great logic.
I said that I am not getting bookings because of the economy. It’s not like small businesses are going out of business left and right now because of the state of the economy, right? It’s because they think everyone is an asshole. But yes, if you know you never intend on using someone’s services and waste their time by leading them on for a month, then yeah, you’re being an ass.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:18 AM
AND now I’m crying.

State Street kinda sucks for watching games in this guy’s opinion…Brats is probably the best if you can get the prime seating, same with Wando’s

I can agree with that.

When asked why she did it, Petkov sounded a lot like a high school mean girl. “Personal satisfaction,” she told the station. “Because it rubs their a-s raw.”
In a demented way I find this level of honesty refreshing
October 14th, 2010 at 10:22 AM
MUWarriors, You mentioned the two bars I normally go to. Always have a pretty good time at Stadium View and Brats. I would try Hawk’s Bar.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:23 AM
Politics is not the sort of thing sane people enjoy, yeah. If you’re going to be engaged, just gotta prepare yourself for perpetual frustration.
/what I tell myself, anyway
October 14th, 2010 at 10:23 AM
I disagree. Michigan marched the ball down the field with ease on that first drive, much of it because of Smith and Shaw rushing. Then Robinson threw the pick behind the WR in the endzone.
I thought State did a good job in the first half on stifling the running game and then built up that 17-10 lead.
Once State went up 24-10, Robinson was forced to pass because the team was behind, because he turned over the ball and because Roundtree dropped a sure TD.
Michigan wasn’t faced with being far behind at all thsi season until last weekend. The team is not geared to play from behind.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:24 AM
That 33 year old cunt bag piece of shit actually took pride in making fun of a 7yr old girl and her dead mother. That “woman” should have her picture next to the word cunt in the dictionary.

I don’t mean to sound like i just fell off of a truck, but what exactly is a “c**t bag?” And why can’t we get that word into moderation. Girls who hate when C bombs get dropped shouldn’t drop C bombs either.

I saw it. Lapierre is a repeat offender and a dirty fucker. I wish the refs had stayed out and let Downie (not that he’s an angel by any means) deal with it. Lapierre refused to fight and back up the shit he pulls – have no respect for that guy at all.
