Seton Hall Poll Says Ban Women From NFL Locker Rooms
A recent poll by Seton Hall University shows that a majority of women think female reporters should be banned from NFL locker rooms. Meanwhile, a recent poll of NFL players shows that female reporters such as Ines Sainz and Erin Andrews should be required in the locker room. (I may have made the second poll up.) Hit me with your best stat Bloomberg.
The telephone poll conducted this week among 1,026 randomly selected adults nationwide found 59 percent of 556 women and 47 percent of 470 men said female reporters should be banned from NFL locker rooms. Thirty-four percent of the respondents said all reporters should be banned. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Personally, I think that this could all easily be avoided if they just had a staging area and let everybody shower up before post-game interviews. Of course, everyone could also just act professional. Expect to see more polls and surveys in the future that both reflect and and contradict this one. Opinions!

Nothing a woman hates more than another woman seeing some dick.

But, but, how can you expect us to do our jobs if we’re not in an athlete’s face, asking why they messed up, immediately after they just got done beating the hell out of each other?

I can’t tell if the guy outside my window on the phone is telling his parents he’s dropping out of school or if he’s trying to convince someone to have an abortion, but I’m laughing at him either way.

I love when Harvey whatever on The people’s Court tries to get the opinion of some guy on the street, and the guy either doesn’t speak english or has no idea what’s going on.
/Nothing else on right now
October 1st, 2010 at 2:18 PM
Why should the opinions of 1026 random people matter to the people who actually are involved? This isn’t a national policy that effects anyone outside of the locker room.

It’s only related to 3 word in your comment but I was reminded of this when I read it.

Howww about no reporters in places where people are naked? How about that? Maybe a separate room to conduct interviews? Does that make too much sense? Oh but how will I know what Mark Sanchez’ locker looks like?! DOES HE USE OLD SPICE???
October 1st, 2010 at 2:30 PM
That’s quite the stance there, Simmons.

they don’t allow the reverse. Men where women are undressing. Otherwise, I’d be a volleyball reporter.

Almost all modern venues DO have a staging area – which should make the locker room become the locker room again and keep the press out altogether.
Locker room interviews are an anachronism from the trains era when teams had to travel to the next city and newspapermen had to dictate stories by telephone or even telegraph to meet deadlines. Today’s instantaneous communications mean that such time pressures are eased greatly.
The interview room setup works for golf and the NCAA sports including football. Media invade pro locker rooms simply because they can. But they DON’T need to.
