The same theory exists for years with movie theatres. Matinees are cheaper than at night. Why? It’s daytime. Who wants to see a movie? For some, the price change changed behavior.

If a winning team isn’t going to bring people out to the park, some misguided interpretation of supply and demand won’t.

Not being centrally located would kill attendance. It’s proven.

I feel like it works differently for sports because it is more of a desire product than a need or want product. Like people who pay for expensive seats are going to pay for them regardless of what the other seats cost. Plus, these guys haven’t complained that no one is buying tickets. They are complaining about no one being there. Well if you want the stadium filled up, there is a very easy fix.

Stop putting logic and common economic sense in the way of ticket sales.

Cut early season and late season ticket prices. Lower prices during the week. Higher prices on weekends when more people are interested in coming. Supply and demand should now be based on when customers want to come to the park and make it irrestible to come at other times with better pricing…

What does figuring out better markets have to do with the lack of attendance in Tampa? Also, other than the Reds (whose attendance has increased) those other teams are losing. Which one of those other teams are contending for the best record in the American League?
