The Big East Is Just Sad
1-liner, All, College Football September 27th. 2010, 2:45pm
Pathetic: The Big East is just becoming sad. They are now 1-10 against BCS conference teams this season. Will the promotion of Villanova be a panacea? Or does a potential Big Ten expansion to 16 end the misery? Regardless, the BCS needs a minimum threshold an AQ conference champion must meet to get the bid.

There are minimum standards for AQ status, but are you going to penalize a singular team for the lack of quality teams that surround them in conference? Seems to run contrary to all of the Boise State love on here.

took me until there to figure out who wrote the post.

No, it would be exactly like Boise St. You would lose your AQ, but you could still get in the BCS with the same requirements that are given to MWC and WAC teams.

That’s my point. Everybody jumps up and down and screams “unfair!” when it comes to Boise, yet advocates the same treatment for the Big East. Doesn’t square up.

Greg Schiano has got to be kicking himself for not getting paid when he had the chance.

Why not, it seems like a pretty common practice for the NCAA across the board.

the east coast can’t do football…they should stay out of it.

I don’t think he is exactly living hand-to-mouth in Piscataway and by all acounts he is holding out for the Penn State job. He just has to wait until it’s been real.

Of all the reasons that’s a joke, geography is pretty low on the list.
/Marquette is in the Big East for b-ball.

Wasn’t his name in just about every rumor for open jobs in 2007 though? He was a candidate for ND even at one point.

Being honest, it is only one year. That’s why the BCS evaluates every four years.
Still, they’ve sucked the last two years.

Wasn’t it just a couple years ago when Louisville, RU, South Florida and WVU were all trading top 5 spots around like Bree Olson.
September 27th, 2010 at 3:03 PM
Yes, especially since USF is in there. I would love them to join the ACC. As I am sure ACC teams would love to have us also since our QB is also floaty mcfloaterson.

His and Chris Peterson. And Bob Stoops. And Brent Venables.

The conference already sucks, they don’t need more help.
/sorry

Yeah Jacory is taking care of that currently.

2006 was their year. Their biggest problem now and going forward will be the TV contract. They’ve got a fucking joke of a contract compared to the other 5 conferences and it’s not getting better because they have 8 teams and relatively zero star power to carry them. I mean, WVU? They’re nice, but people aren’t going out of their way to watch the Mountaineers.
That is the reason why the Big East has whored itself to such bad off nights (Wed and Friday).
The conference trying to add Nova is very weak and will blow up in their faces.

I don’t think USF matches…culturally, shall we say, with the ACC.

Similar to how Mizzou was holding out for that Big 10 invite?

I went for the lowball…what can I say? I’m watching Flash Gordon.

This has possibilities of being a worse year than when Pitt lost to Utah by about half a hundo in one of the BCS games.
Will laugh like hell at Boise playing an 8-4 West Virginia team in the Sugar Bowl.
September 27th, 2010 at 3:34 PM
I doubt WVU loses again in the regular season. Honestly, they will be favored in every game. At worst, I think they finish 10-2, but 11-1 is highly likely.
September 27th, 2010 at 4:01 PM
What’s worst or which one resonates more, the Big East’s 1-10 or the ACC’s Saturday Massacre with Tech losing to a 1AA school and FSU and Miami getting blown out on national television? Neither Basketball Conference is very good at Football.

the east coast can’t do football…they should stay out of it.
Cause the west coast is so great at it?
