September 24th, 2010 at 8:16 AM
Praise Jesus! Please let the refs actually follow through on this.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:16 AM
I was surprised about all the buzz concerning this Hard Knocks thing here in DC. The Caps are already the darling of the city and so this show putting them on a national stage really seams to legitimize their chances of winning the cup this year.

awesome, now we can hear about how cool the unshowered russian is until he chokes his way out of the playoffs again.

Look for many more technical fouls to be called in the NBA this season.
Didn’t they try this a few years ago and since all the players complained they couldn’t get used to it, it just kind of faded away?
September 24th, 2010 at 8:23 AM
win the crowd, and you’ll win your freedom.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:24 AM
awesome, now we can hear about how cool the unshowered russian is until he chokes his way out of the playoffs again.
His average of goals per game went up in the playoffs vs the regular season, so yeah he sucks.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:24 AM
Demonstrative disagreement, such as when a player incredulously raises his hands, or smacks his own arm to demonstrate how he was fouled.
I hope this includes appearing to cry, because that’s Paul Pierce’s signature move.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:27 AM

smalll sample size. can’t get a large sample when you get knocked out in the first round.

Alba might be living in Austin now. I rode past her on our hike & bike trail a few months ago. She was in spandex pants… damn. Two days ago my co-worker said she walked past him at Whole Foods. My mission in life is to have a conversation with her.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:30 AM
Well hot damn. I guess it’s better for the league to bring attention to player’s reaction to horrible calls than to you know, uh, address the level of incompetency of their refereeing crews.

Went to the game last night. Pitt should be embarassed. Home game on national TV against a ranked opponent and the stadium is 80% full. And they wonder why PSU won’t give them a home/home.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:35 AM
I get to see Sidney Crosby be excruciatingly boring both “behind the scenes” AND when talking to the media? Awesome!
September 24th, 2010 at 8:36 AM
unintentional, but made me laugh.

THANK YOU!!! Everything on that list needs to be enforced. It’s trickled down to the high school level – hopefully I won’t have to punch out some 16 year old in the near future.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:36 AM
who’s going to humanize Heather S. for us this morning? I nominate Jersey or SC.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:37 AM
they should be more embarrassed about how shitty their football team looked rather than how many people were there to see it.

Yep.

Home game on national TV against a ranked opponent and the stadium is 80% full.
Why is this? Pitt is a decent program — certainly not a title contender, but one of the better Big East teams (granted not saying much).
September 24th, 2010 at 8:43 AM
The whipping came more from how horrible Pitt was. Miami still making terrible and dumb mistakes. Pitt should be ashamed of themselves, more than normal amount for being Pitt.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:44 AM
Why is this? Pitt is a decent program — certainly not a title contender, but one of the better Big East teams (granted not saying much).
People care more about the Steelers, plus you have a lot of Penn State fans in Pittsburgh.

September 24th, 2010 at 8:46 AM
Last year’s team could have been competitive with the right coach, they had a ton of talent.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:47 AM
Do they have a ton of injuries on offense or is that the 2010 Pitt offense at full strength?

How was your Auburn weekend?
September 24th, 2010 at 8:47 AM
that’s quite the stretch.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:48 AM
Unless HBO is shoring up the Caps blue line somehow, they’re still going to struggle in the playoffs. Excited for the series though.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:48 AM
Well hot damn. I guess it’s better for the league to bring attention to player’s reaction to horrible calls than to you know, uh, address the level of incompetency of their refereeing crews.
nice one, Darrell. 2 shots and the ball.

Dammit – I wanted to paste the info on the NBA Techicals. That’s what I get for going to work after a night of drinking
September 24th, 2010 at 8:50 AM
it was great. actually played decent golf (from what I remember). good game too. Auburn looked real bad that first half, I was surprised to see how well they bounced back in the second half. I love going down there, Auburn gets a lot of hate around here, not sure what for. well, I kind of do since you guys snag a good player or two out of the state every year…
September 24th, 2010 at 8:51 AM

especially when the majority of those calls have to be made to ensure the league mandated result.

New QB and bad interior to the offensive line. Makes it difficult to utilize their two top players (Baldwin/Lewis).
September 24th, 2010 at 8:52 AM
They should address both issues.

for all the Petrino haters. bought pizza’s for all the students camping out to get tickets. delivered by Ryan Mallett himself.

September 24th, 2010 at 8:52 AM
By the way, I’m not really sure how it can be a Hard Knocks type of show when it’s happening in the middle of the season. It’s more of a show about the Winter Classic than anything else.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:53 AM
Well, they lost their 5th year QB who could actually throw the ball and I’m pretty sure they lost an O-linemen or two. The Miami defensive line gets my only gold star for the game, they were beating them up all night.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:53 AM
Giants back on top of the West. In their last 8 losses, they’ve given up 18 total runs. That’s how effing ridiculous this pitching staff is right now.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:54 AM
You mean he copied Tom Izzo and Coach K by buying pizzas for students? Big fucking deal.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:55 AM
This morning I was eathing breakfast and turned on the TV. My cable was set to ESPN2 (M&M was on). Before I changed the channel, I noticed they were discussing King Felix for the Cy Young. Olney said that Hernandez is the “clear frontrunner” right now.
I declare on 9/24 that the internet is winning.

/that league is rigged

September 24th, 2010 at 8:57 AM
SG- they’re supposed to film from Dec 15 through the Winter Classic. Caps and Pens play on Dec 23 in DC as well. It’ll be 3 weeks or so worth of footage. Bruce Boudreau could be entertaining. He’s no Rex Ryan though.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:59 AM
I prefer the Mallett picture here.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:00 AM
Ok so that’s still not the Hard Knocks format is it? Plus they’re following 2 teams at the same time. I guess they were worried about not having enough story lines to make a good show?
September 24th, 2010 at 9:00 AM
The Cubs lost 13-0? Ryan Dempster gave up 7 runs in less than 2 innings. Made the right decision 3 months ago to stop staring at that trainwreck.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:02 AM
This will be the first time in almost 10 years that I haven’t attended at least one Cubs game during baseball season.

/Opulence – I has it
September 24th, 2010 at 9:04 AM
No, definitely not the Hard Knocks format verbatim. Think those 24/7 boxing specials. He may draw ire for playoff failure but I can guarantee that Ovie will be entertaining when the camera is on. It’s more to bring fans into the sport than for current fans. It’s a good marketing ploy, IMO. Hopefully they spotlight someone like DET, CHI, VAN, or BOS next time.

cereal, coffee, dip, poop.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:11 AM
Not sure how interesting this HBO hockey thing will be. Here’s what we’ll probably get:
-Ovie will dance for the camera because he’s an attention whore
-Mike Green will make sure he has some super cool hair (/sarcasm)
-Semin will say something stupid
-Crosby will look annoyed everytime he realizes he’s being filmed
-Max Talbot will do something to re-enforce the sterotype that French Canadians are shifty characters
-Fleury will make everyone think he might be kinda, sorta gay
Having said all that, I’ll be watching.
What was my point again?
September 24th, 2010 at 9:11 AM
why would i want my world to be my pizza when the buckeyes have made the world my thurmanator?

I wish I knew how to dub over a video. I’d open the video while Sarah is bouncing around and the antagonist is approaching with some Rocky music. then, about 1 second of absolute silence before this played in a constant loop from 0:05 to about 0:20.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:13 AM
I forgot about good ole Maxime Talbot. This photo always makes me laugh. He’ll be the Penguins version of Ovie for entertainment.

Thank you. I get thinking Crosby is boring (I’d say professional, but whatever), but Ovie is fucking Deion Sanders with unfrozen caveman lawyer mixed in. Nothing likable about him to me.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:14 AM
Fork and a knife is a must there. I think I could probably get through 75% of it before having a grabber.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:15 AM
Agree. I think the show always should have been original six but they decided they wanted to do it around the Winter Classic.
/fuck the Penguins, fuck the Capitals, fuck Sidney Crosby, fuck Mike Green, fuck Malkin, fuck Nicklas Backstrom, and fuck Gary Bettman for picking those two awful teams for this season’s winter classic.

September 24th, 2010 at 9:45 AM
SC, as I said last night, the league sent out a memo/video on that exact gesture a day before Boynton did it. He deserved a game.

Dwight Freeney says Peter King can taste his nuts.

I didn’t want to but I laughed. Can you imagine living like that?
September 24th, 2010 at 9:47 AM
Can’t. Stop. Laughing.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:48 AM
My friend describes it as, “God’s blatant trolling of humanity.”
September 24th, 2010 at 9:48 AM
“There it is, that’s what it is…fucker, fucker, fucker, fucker.”
September 24th, 2010 at 9:49 AM
Arrives tomorrow. Probably get it in tomorrow night if there’s no good late game. It’s supposed to rain all weekend here so it’ll be perfect.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:49 AM
“Every whisper… FUCKER!”
September 24th, 2010 at 9:50 AM
I’m tired of shit like this. Freeney should shut his pie hole and show King on the field that a mistake was made. Instead, his pie hole gets the publicity and becomes the story, potentially taking away from his play on Sundays.
/It’s not just Freeney.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:50 AM
Is a person born with Tourettes or is it something that they acquire from some sort of traumatic expierence?
September 24th, 2010 at 9:51 AM
Eh, you have a good point, but it’s not like Freeney’s play is slipping. I did enjoy him pointing to Orakpo’s name and saying, “Who is this?”
September 24th, 2010 at 9:52 AM
In high school there was this kid in some of my classes with tourettes, except that he would honk all the time.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:53 AM
Sounds like a lot of butthurt.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:53 AM
“I think I saw you laughing… FUCK!”
The 3:05 mark is my favorite part so far.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:53 AM
i have a buddy with tourettes…it’s not that bad tho. only a little shake.
he likes animal porn and is the fastest guitarist ive ever seen.

It’s definitely been rip on Colts players week around these parts.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:56 AM
If it makes you feel any better I think Addai is a top 15 complete back in the NFL.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:57 AM
Joe Addai, #29 in your program and #29 on the list of best backs in the NFL this season
/Last night
September 24th, 2010 at 9:57 AM
I was in the Addai camp last night. Not sure why that whole discussion came up but I’m a fan of the guy. Plus, the best TE in the history of football plays for the Colts so I can’t hate on the Hoosiers football team.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:59 AM
The exact cause of Tourette’s is unknown, but it is well established that both genetic and environmental factors are involved.[31] Genetic studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of cases of Tourette’s are inherited, although the exact mode of inheritance is not yet known,[32] and no gene has been identified.[6] In some cases, Tourette’s is sporadic, that is, it is not inherited from parents.[33] In other cases, tics are associated with disorders other than Tourette’s, a phenomenon known as tourettism.[34]

The most shocking thing about last night’s RB discussion is that people actually think Marion Barber plays on third down.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:01 AM
Send the notsopuremichigan link to TBL last week and it must have gone in the trash. I’m a UM guy and I love the Michigan football parody. Classic.

I think his point is that his play HAS been talking, and been talking at a high level for a long time. I guess only fans can talk.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:15 AM
Fastest offensive player, doesn’t fumble, most athletic, catches the ball out of the backfield. All ACC triple jumper. Qualified for the National championship on his first attempt with very limited practice.
Need anything else?
September 24th, 2010 at 10:15 AM
seriously…if anyone can gripe about something trivial like this, it’s freeney. i mean, it’s not like freeney is braylon, a guy bitching about shit he hasn’t done…freeney has been a dominant force for awhile and probaably will be for the next two or three years.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:54 AM
As a hokie fan, I couldn’t be more excited about wilson. I was surprised to hear he was recruited by Myer.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:56 AM
And by myer I mean urban meyer of course.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:35 AM
I wonder if that goal scorer was really good or if the Koreans just fall over a lot by default?
September 24th, 2010 at 11:57 AM
Interesting story on that:
Wilson had already verballed to VT and after Florida won the national championship Wilson was the first kid Meyer called. He told him Harvin was leaving early and wanted him to replace him. Wilson could have bounced on his commitment to VT but stayed true to his word.
Says a lot about Wilson and also about Meyer. I wouldn’t have blamed Wilson if he left though.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:04 PM
Something other than the fact that he is a more accomplished track athlete than football player at this point.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:16 PM
I can see you like to hate so it’s hard to satisfy you.
He hasn’t gotten an opportunity since there are/were other backs in front of him and Frank Beamer goes with seniority over talent(yeah that’s dumb but that’s how it is.)
He will get his carries now that Ryan Williams is hurt and you will find out how good he is. Prior to last week he had 4 caries. Last week he had 9 in the 2H after and had over 100 yds.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:32 PM
I’m not a hater at all. Wilson may be a great athlete, but at this time the best RB is Williams. Also, it’s worth noting regarding Beamer going with seniority over talent, Williams started most of last year as a Redshirt Freshman, and there is that Michael Vick guy as well.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:33 PM
awesome, now we can hear about how cool the unshowered russian is until he chokes his way out of the playoffs again.
Ovechkin vs. Canadiens: 5 goals, 5 assists, +5 in 7 games
Crosby vs. Canadiens: 1 goal, 4 assists, -1 against the Canadiens in 7 games.
September 24th, 2010 at 2:20 PM
This year Ryan Williams hasn’t been the best back. He hasn’t found any holes and said himself he couldn’t figure out why. Wilson fond holes versus ECU; granted ECU D is terrible but he still found somewhere to run. Wilson can break a 50 yard run every time he touches the ball; Williams hasn’t shown that ability this year. Maybe he has been hurt more than we have been told.
Beamer went with Williams last year because he had no choice. Evans got hurt in the preseason so Williams was the only viable option since he had a decent understanding of how to block, which is required for VT backs since our o-line is consistently terrible.
As for Vick, they red-shirted him didn’t they? After Grant Noel there is only one way to go; up.
