Introducing Sports Reporter Barbie
In the latest of what we imagine to be a plethora of Barbies, Mattel has released a “Barbie I Can Be News Anchor Doll” that will be available this holiday season. The “power pink” jacket, pink skirt and high heels to go along with a pink folder to keep her pink bubble-lettered notes should be enough ammo for USA Today’s Christine Brennan to organize a protest – or a riot – outside of Mattel headquarters. According to the product details, a “special code inside each package unlocks career-themed content online.” Ines Sainz’s jeans sold separately. [via; screengrab via]

My 5 year old daughter already wants one.

I hope she’s not fat. And that she’s Diane Sawyer’s stepdaughter.

Fox News has already hired her.

Going to Wal Mart makes me feel better about myself when I think my life sucks and I’m a loser.

It has the exact opposite effect on me. I go in there, and I realize I might be one of these people.
As for the EBT cards, it’s unsurprising that food stampers will blow through their benefits too soon when they can buy ready made pizzas with them all month long. My grocery store stickers lots of partially prepared foods as “EBT approved,” because that’s who buys that stuff.

thank you, hernia.
i’m positive that pic will be better than the AM Roundup.

does it come with the re-ah (/the town’d) to fill those jeans?

Obama did not originate this…actually, some fairly conservative economists did.
As for the modern bread lines…I don’t think this is any sort of new Wal-Mart and/or EBT occurrence. I suspect this has been going on for more than a few years.
@Dirt…you are so right about EBT abuse, some of the shit I see at the grocery store trips me out.
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:46 AM
You mean people are abusing something that they get for free? Shocking.
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:46 AM
That’s just her size, guys. Jeez.

no, he means that the grocery stores are gaming the EBT system, which prohibits food stamps being used on “prepared food.” So the partial preparation/packaging of food to entice these people to spend their limited resources on convenience instead of huge bags of beans and rice.
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:52 AM
dirtheavy’s fix: take away EBT’s and other social services for the money-challenged population and have the National Guard airdrop giant bags of beans and rice to the po’ folk.
/not what he said at all, but I thought it would be funny to portray it that way
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:01 AM
Exactly…while there is no doubt that EBT abuse among users is present as well, I was referring to what Dirt was saying…grocery stores enticing EBT users to blow their funds.
