Two questions:

1. Who still keeps ATM receipts (I’m assuming the receipt was from an ATM)?

2. Why would you NEED a receipt from a strip club? Employer reimbursement? Tax documentation?

We have one at the school I teach at that gets used between 6-7 hours a day for 9 months and even then the bulb didn’t have to be replaced for three years. We had to look into the bigger sizes because there are 20-25 students in a room so naturally the bigger the better.

Wasn’t sure about home use or if anyone had one…but the description of them now says they are also 3-D ready.

The Brick tournament is a massive cash grab. If my kid decides he wants to play hockey the deal is going to be the same as what I had growing up (until bantam). If you want to play hockey in the winter you have to do something else in the summer (I swam and played ball).

We’re coming from the same place. My son is nowhere near elite in terms of hockey so I’m not really susceptible to the the sales pitches these guys make but I’ve seen people sucked in. We’re talking second mortgages just to bankroll “The Dream”.

My son plays 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 hockey in the summer. One game a week, no practices and it’s basically an excuse to play with his friends from school. We mix it up with soccer, flag football and jiu jitsu. He’s fit, happy and has a bunch of friends. That should really be the point.

I’ve heard the same thing about the educational aspect. In fact many of the teachers at the schools here are guys I played with at the U of A or alumni of the program.

which is probably what would happen anyway, the suburban areas in the cheaper cities would have this kind of business, i don’t see call centers popping up in the NY metro area, but int he mid west, or even ohio, rural PA, hell even Detroit could use that kind of business.

Hell yes. There are counties in Northern Ohio, that were mainly manufacturing counties, that are upwards of 22% unemployment. Most are educated enough to handle call center tasks, especially those that are repetitive in nature. They speak midwestern English, which is a big plus with customers. The people are work-driven, but there’s nothing for them to do after the companies shipped out all of the work.

These are the type of places that can thrive long term for a company looking for cheaper help doing menial tasks.

Hockey schools and the elite summer hockey programs that many of them run are a huge cash grab. I’m sure you know all about “The Brick” tourney in your neck of the wooods and that’s the holy grail for these summer programs and their super teams. It’s crazy.

Doesn’t DLP also have a high repair rate due to the bulbs and color/mirror wheel?

it’s definitely a solution if you want bigger for cheaper, don’t want to wall mount and don’t care about the thinness of the set.

Of course on the other hand, if you take on the Warren Buffet style with GEICO and move your call centers tot he outskirts of major metro areas, that can bring the gap a little closer, but for a far fewer number of people.

Thanks for the breakdown. Things are quite different out here, all of the clubs at the minor hockey level are run by volunteers in the specific communities subject to similar not-for-profit rules.

Summer hockey teams are another matter altogether and some of those are very sketchy. We are also seeing an increase in private schools dedicated to athletics where a kid can play hockey or other sports every day (whole other issue and something I don’t agree with).

Does anyone go with Mitsubishi DLP TV’s? You can get 65″-inch TV’s for $999 if you look in the right place. Just wondering if anyone sacrifices the perfect picture quality for size (they also make 73″ and I think 85″ inch screens).

i’ve honestly not seen a DLP rear projection TV in a few years. I thought about it when i was looking for a new TV last year but couldn’t find any.

the picture quality is still pretty good (at least on the last few DLP’s i looked at *used to sell TVs at Circuit City*), just need optimum viewing situations. Darker room, the right viewing distance, not too far from the side or too low or high.

depends on the area they live in. In NJ they won’t be able to live alone, probably need at least 10K more per year for that. $9.50 was just an estimate anyway, not a fact that’s what would be paid to that employee.
