Mariotti is a tool. He’s now also a hypocrite and the cost of hypocrisy has always been exclusion from the group. It’s an important part of how we maintain common values and if someone spends their life talking about how things should be in sports, setting the standard for who’s good and who’s not, they should be accountable for their transgressions. This is how civilized societies handle their loud mouthed jackasses. I do hope he learns from this and goes on to develop some empathy and a sense of fairness towards the athletes he covers, but I’m thinking he’s not going to be real big on self-accountability and that soon enough he’ll be ripping every athlete, for every transgression, except maybe domestic violence.
