Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN by Jim Miller will be released in early 2011. Miller previously wrote Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live which was a very interesting read. SI’s Richard Deitsch has some information about the book that plenty of bloggers wish they had written.

Miller via SI:

“There are three different types of people we’ve interviewed. The first type is the person who says, ‘I love or loved being at ESPN. It was the greatest experience of my life. What can I tell you?’ The second person says, ‘It’s a great place but it certainly has its challenges and problems and I’ll be happy to share both.’ Then there’s the third person who is resentful and angry and was maybe even scorned. I think there are many people there looking forward to the book, and I think there are many people wondering, Can we trust these guys, what are they up to, and are they out to get us?”

So will this book blow the dome off the ESPN campus? Will all the disgruntled former employees tell stories about late night cocaine use that helped to fuel SportsCenter’s golden era? Was Craig Kilborn the Chevy Chase of SportsCenter? What does The Decision have to do with Sarah Palin? Am I seeing too many SNL connections?
All I know is that the people that left ESPN and lived to tell about it will finally be heard. ESPN also granted access to current employees as well as the ESPN campus after a 9-month ban. The most interesting thing might be seeing if any of the current employees slipped up and let out any juicy tidbits that might land them in hot water. I’m sure that we’ll get some “leaked” passages as the release date nears. I’m sure we’ll all be waiting impatiently.
