Greg Oden Can’t Catch a Break: Fractured Left Knee Patella, Done For the Season
Greg Oden’s pro career is starting to feel as if it could mirror that of Bill Walton or Ralph Sampson – injury-riddled to the point that he never gets a chance to fulfill the promise and expectations that seemed endless when he was drafted. Oden landed awkwardly last night and fractured the patella in his left knee, ending his season. Video is here. Oden missed his rookie year due to a right knee injury, and played in 61 games last year. He played in 21 games this year – averaging 11.1 points and 8.5 rebounds – meaning he’ll have played in 82 games in three years as a pro. It’s tough not to feel bad for the kid, who turns 22 next month. [Oregonian]
