Rob Parker Resigns from the Detroit News
Detroit News sports writer Rob Parker, the guy who made everyone feel kind of sorry for the coach of the 0-16 Detroit Lions, has resigned from the paper. According to Journal-isms, Parker was demoted from columnist to reporter after badgering Lions coach Rod Marinelli in the postgame press conference of the final game of the season, and asking, “do you wish your daughter had married a better defensive coordinator?”
Parker quickly apologized in a column the next day, but Marinelli was having none of it. It’s an unsurprising move by the paper, considering how much negative publicity it generated for News. It’s also a brutal economic climate to get canned in.
